Poorly maintained and unsafe sailing vessels. The 43 foot catamaran had no working speedometer, any type of navagation equipment and the VHF radio was connected to a portable antenna with a range of .5 miles or less. Smelled hot plastic, and checked crockpot. Plastic was dripping from the bottom. checked to find a line melting in the plastic base. Opened up unit to find the element had fallen down on the plastic bottom and was melting it. There is only one clip holding the element wraps up on the side of the chassis and only one wrap was going through it.
