Walmart Money Card Reviews

No access to funds
I lost my card, called to have it re-issued and was charged $20 to have a new one fedex mailed to me within 5 business days. Today is day 7. No tracking number could be provided when I requested it. I have two accounts with this company. I simply asked that they transfer the money to my other account which they told me they could not do even if I provided them with every bit of account detail etc. They speak limited english and have no ability to escalate a call. The supervisor was actually dumber than the rep.

My complaint is this. I have 850.00 in the bank account. I need the money know for gas and basics. I have waited this long and they still will do nothing to get me access to the funds.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO. I have filed complaints with the BBB and local state attorney general over this.

activation nightmare
The prepaid walmart card really stressed me out!!!what ever happened to handing the cash to the salesperson them activating the card right then and there. Its all about greed, how can I make another dollar. They don't care at all about the consumer, I tried to activate a card that was a christmas gift, twice before my wife had to take over, I just could'nt believe all the info they wanted, really irratated and will think twice when dealing with visa or walmart, their just to big for their britches. Good luck and Godbless, and remeber cash is King stay away from pre paid cards.

Refund being sent to wrong address
Don't even bother with this crap! I got a Wal-Mart money card today so I could buy my kids something online for Christmas. I didn't realize I had typed my address in it incorrect and long story short it denied my activation and is now sending a refund check to the WRONG address. I call up customer service and after a half hour non human communication it sends me to a real person who within 1 minute after explaining my situation to her says there is nothing they could do, since I was prompted to check my address before I submitted the form. I am a single mom who recently lost her job and I am on a VERY tight income, I have three children. I am almost in tears over this because I basically lost 65 dollars! I am so mad! Don't even give them your business!

Rude customer service, unhelpful
I purchased a 50.00 Gift Card from Walmart back in August as a gift for my mother-in-law only to find out when she went to use it 2 weeks later that it only had 1.67 on it. We researched the purchases to discover that they had been made back in JUNE!! So I was told by 15 seperate people that I would be receiving the money, after two times of FIGHTING with a rep that there was NO WAY I am filing a dispute claim since there was NO WAY we made the purchases. One customer service rep told me that for the hassle I would be credited 10.00, later to be told that the only way I can receive that 10 dollars is by purchasing ANOTHER walmart card. Once I received the refund check of 53.95 on October 18th. (Remember I purchased the card August 1st.) Then I called Walmart C. Service to verify that I would receive the 10+activiation, which I was guaranteed.. So I called the day before Thanksgiving 11-24-09 and was told I would get a phone call back from a supervisor that same day, and imagine that... Today, 12-9-09 I still had not received a phone call from a supervisor. So I called in and FAUGHT for my money. Except I was told I will not be allowed to get the activiation fee back. So Finally on 12-9-09 I was told that I would get my 10 dollars minus the activation fee back. I am extremely heated about Walmart and honestly try to tell everyone DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR GIFTCARDS or MONEYCARDS. Walmart is AWFUL at customer service.

Customer service and the difficulty of activation
The buyer tried to activate the card and all went well until she tried to use the debit/credit (Visa). While trying to put some money on the phone, it was rejected?
Then she proceeded to call customer service and the woman on the phone was terribly rude. The purchaser then demanded a supervisor and was shut down. The customer service representative himhawed around and said the mistake was a street address entry. The purchaser supposidly told her the street numbers and not the house address. Then the Rep. explained that the money will be refunded back on the card on Dec. 5th. Mind you, it was purchased on 11/24/09!
Well, forcing the issue, the purchaser demanded once again to see a superviser. This time she was shut down again but with a promise that her money would be refunded within 2 business days. Readers, these type of cards are a sham! Take my advice, steer clear of the too good to be true prepaid and reloadable debit/credit card(s). Consumers Beware!!!

not able to activate card.
I called the number to activate. They would not acknowledge my birth date. I tried on line, and was told i needed a receipt from two weeks ago that i had thrown out. The way this card works is ridiculous. You would think a company as huge as walmart would come up with a better card.

No recourse for problems
I purchased a Walmart money card at the Madison Walmart. I paid $38.00...35.00 loaded on the card and a 3.oo fee for the card. The same day I gave the money card to a child as a birthday gift. No...I did not read the microscopic print on the back of the card that says u must "activate" the card by going to a website or calling a number. Nor did I realize that the "activation code" was on the receipt! Needless to say...I certainly didnt give the kid the receipt. He saved his money for something he really wanted and 3 weeks later...the card doesnt work. His mom tried website, phone calls, etc until she finally called me and told me about the problem. I went through the same routine...unless u have an activated card...the online and phone number stops u dead in your tracks. There is no mechanism for online complaint. I no longer have the receipt...I do have my checkings account statement with the amount. The Madison Walmart has not offered any solutions. Someone was going to call me in a few days...that was 5 days ago, Previously I purchased gift cards and simply mailed them because the money was already on them. The cashier scanned the card...I thought that what she was doing. This is a huge scam. Basically my money was stolen. Do not buy this card. If u cant activate it for whatever reason u are out of the money and no one will help u. What if u spill something on ur receipt, accidently throw it out with the bags, cant read it???? Walmart should be ashamed to allow this scam to carry their name.

no money on card
I loaded my walmart money card yesterday with $25.00, today I went to pay a bill online and was told my card was declined because I have no money loaded. I would appriciate getting my money put back on there or I will stop using the card and dealing with walmart altogether.

Fraudulent Charges
I got a Walmart prepaid money card so that I could be secure in knowing that my daughter who is away at college would always have money available to her in an emergency.
Twice since I got the card they have allowed fraudulent charges to my card. The first time I called them and told them there was a fraudulent charge from a hotel. The next day they allowed the same hotel to charge my card two more times. Then a gas station charged me for gas I didn't get because the pump was messed up and I had swiped my card. The gas station put a $70.00 hold on the card. Both times this happened I had to argue with a customer service rep and be very rude to them to even get a supervisor to call me back. The first incident the supervisor was nice and apologetic and told me since I had already reported this company for fraudulent charges, I wouldn't have to wait the ten days. He told me my acct would be credited the next day. I should have known this was to easy and it had to be a lie. Of course, the next day was a Friday and when the money wasn't there I called back and was informed they do not post credits on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday so it would be Tuesday. The bad thing was that I didn't even ask for them to refund the original fraudulent charge during any of these conversations. The last time, with the gas station, my daughter was out of town and I had went that day and put $100.00 on the card so she would have it should something happen. Well, something happened and she was in another state with no funds and I was in another state for a family wedding, so I had to wire her money. I should have known better then to put money on this card but didn't want her to carry cash. ANYBODY WHO IS THINKING OF GETTING ONE OF THESE CARDS, DON'T!!! If you have one and they haven't messed it up, THEY WILL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSONNEL ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND YOU CAN NEVER GET A SUPERVISOR AND IF YOU DO, THEY ARE GOING TO LIE AND TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR BECAUSE THEY ARE COWARDS. YOU WOULD THINK A COMPANY LIKE WALMART COULD DO BETTER THEN THIS!!!
