Refusal of service
The Pharmacist in charge today February 6, 2010 at 10:30 am central time, refused sale of "Plan B" contraceptic product with the excuse that it was against her religion. Now as far as i know she is not the walgreens owner therefore should not refuse service. I am very upset because she sent me away to another one close by, but what she did not know was the fact that the next pharmacy did not have any at that time. Now, her actions put not only me but my partner in difficult circumstances and i would like appropriate actions and investigations to take place for not only my sake but many others as well.

communications
When I go to pick up my prescriptions, I have trouble trying to communicate to them that all my prescriptions are covered under workman's comp. They sometimes forget to get authorization thru the carrier and I have to go back later to pick up my prescriptions. When I drop my prescriptions off, I write on it and also tell the person at the window that it is a workman's comp. prescriptions. They get paid very well from my prescriptions. It is a hassle to have to go back and make another pickup. Gas is expensive and it waste my time. I have ask them several times to put it in their computer. If it happens one more time, I will take my business somewhere else.

Incompetent pharmacist
I submitted the following complaint to Oregon Department of Justice:
I picked up Alphagan-P eyedrops from the above pharmacy on 12/29/2009. The next day (12/30), when I opened the box, I found that the container had no security seal and there was no informational brochure which comes with the drops. By then, while opening the box, I had torn off the patient information slip that was attached to the box. But I immediately called the pharmacy and spoke to someone and explained what had happened. She told me to bring it in and that I would get a new bottle. On 12/31, at around 5:30pm, I promptly took the eyedrops (in its box) along with the patient wlip (which was torn off the box by now) to the pharmacy and asked to get a new one as promised. The pharmacist on duty examined the bottle and the patient slip for a while and without hesitation declared that that bottle was not sold from their pharmacy. She then said that I would have to take up the matter with the manufacturer and that she would not be able to replace it. I insisted on her that I had got that bottle from them two days earlier and asked her to check their system to see if she can find a cross reference to the lot # from the bottle or the barcode from the patinet slip on the box. She refused and stuck to her claim that that bottle was not from their pharmacy.
I felt utterly annoyed at this point; she was implying that I was lying. At that point, I asked her to give me a written statement stating what she had told me. She then took the bottle and the box and asked me to wait. After about 5-7 minutes, a gentleman came with replacement eyedrops in a box and said that they had given me a new bottle.
This whole experience was very unpleasant. Despite my telling her that I had obtained that bottle from their pharmacy and asking her to check that I had been getting that medication from them for years now and why I would claim something was wrong just this once, she could not for once consider it probable that they might have given me an opened bottle.
I wonder how they could sell me an opened eye medication in the first place. At a minimum, I would think the pharmacist should be reprimanded for inconsiderate attitude and arrogance and Walgreens be warned about such harmful paractices.

Incompetent Pharmacist
On 12/31/2009 I was dispensed a partial refill of Topamax 100mg (6 tablets out of 120). This medication is used for seizures. Six tablets will only last me 3 days, the pharmacist then told me that he would not have the remaining tablets until Monday; obviously he miscalculated and this would not hold me over until Monday and I could be in danger of having a seizure. I then called the pharmacist and told him his mistake and he acknowledged his error and stated that he would have 12 tablets available for me in the morning. I also told him that the label did not state partial and it showed as if he had dispensed all 120 tablets; he then stated that they were aware that this was a partial. Today January 3rd, my husband went to pick up the 12 tablets set aside for me and the pharmacist on duty "Keyla" was not only the most unprofessional individual I have ever met new nothing of the 12 tablets, but refused to dispense them to him and stated that all 120 were already given to me and refused to call the pharmacist that was on duty on 12/31/2009 to attempt to clear up the mistake. She had no concern of the fact that I could potentially have a seizure today and stated that SHE WOULD NOT BE LIABLE AMD DID NOT CARE!!! When my husband returned without my medication at 8:00a.m. I attempted to contact Keyla to correct the problem and she simply hung up on me. I have filed a complaint with Walgreens and have been able to obtain my medication at least for today but the issue is yet to be resolved. As a CEO of a Hospital I am appalled that Walgreens employs this kind of individual that does not take patient safety seriously. I will not stop until this is resolved but I would like everyone to be aware of this persons serious lack of consideration and professionalism.
Sincerely,
Concerned Consumer.

poor customer service
My mother called in for a refill at 9:30 am and was told it would be ready by 11 am. Last month when we went to pick up her prescription at the time we were told it would be ready, they told us they were working on it and it would be another 20 minutes. This time we gave them an extra hour and fifteen minutes before we tried to pick it up. While we were waiting in the drive through for the clerk to check on it another car pulled up. When the clerk came back to the window, she waited on the other customer first. After she was done with them, she got back on the phone to tell us that the pharmacist was just now filling the prescription and it would be a few more minutes. After another ten minutes or so, she came back to send us the basket for our payment. When she sent the basket back out to us with my mothers credit card and medicine, it just popped open and everything fell out and under my car. The clerk did not notice since she had walked off as soon as she sent the basket out to us. I had to squeeze out my car door which was blocked by the basket that was still just hanging there. Then I had to get on my hands and knees to reach my mother's medicine. Being a 50 year old woman with bad knees, this was not the easiest maneuver for me. At no time did anyone from the pharmacy ask if they could be off any help or even if there was a problem. A few months ago, they said they would call my mother's doctor to get a refill authorized and when we went back the next day, they claimed to know nothing about this. My mother had to end up contacting her doctor and get the refill called in which delayed her getting her medicine for another full day. Needless to say, I have convinced my mother to move all her presciptions from Walgreens. We will not be returning there for any reason.

Poor Customer Service
I had a RX filled on a Monday for an antibiotic, erythromycin. I was told that they could only give me a partial order as that was all they had in stock. The balance of my RX would be in the next day. I recieved a call on Thursday that the balance was in. This was two days later than I was promised. I went to pick up the balance on Friday as I was now out of this medication. I was told that it was not in yet from the warehouse and they couldn't tell me when it would be in. The clerk at the pharmacy left it at that and said next customer. Any dummy knows that an antibiotic must not be skipped and finished until the RX is gone. I had a very bad infection and Walgreens didn't seem to care if Imissed any dosage. I asked to speak to a manager. She offered me a soulution: She would call around the area to see if another Walgreens had the antibiotic and whould then pick it up for me and bring it to the store where I was waiting. That was a very kind gesture on her part and part of her job as a manager. I waited an hour for her to go 7 blocks. Although I very much appreciated her helping me I was still upset with the Pharmacy Manager who could have either called around for the balance the first day I was there or made sure the balance was in when promised. In the Chicago area there are hundreds of Walgreens stores. I am a Senior Citizen who does not drive and the Pharmacy Manager knew this. I think it is horrible they way Walgreens treats it's older customers. I for one have been shopping at Walgreens for over 30 years. I think it's about time I looked for another pharmacy.

Would not fill a refill
This is the second time this has happened in the last 6 months.
Tonight I tried to pick my class 3 controlled substance 2 days early. It's a refill. Insurance would not pay until tomorrow which was only 3 hours away. I asked if they would run it on my secondary insurance since I was there and picking up another script they told me no. So I said I would pay cash, again they told me no. The pharmacist at walgreens said I had to wait exactly 15 days from date of the last refill. It's a 15 day script.
Now they have put a flag in the computer saying they will have to call my doctor to get my refill. I'm sick of being treated like a criminal when I go in to pick my controlled substance up.
Because of this I have decided i'm going to transfer all off my scripts (8) to a local pharmacy.
Bottom line I'm fed up with getting looks and comments from the pharmacist and staff when I go to walgreens for my pain medicine.

PHARMACY HARASSMENT
Our problems continue to be with customer service and demeanor from the pharmacy end of walgreens. My mom has terminal medical conditions and suffers immense pain 24 hrs a day for years until recently the last year. My mom's new doc had worked for 2 yrs to find a pain control regiment that works for best quality of life and it works well with minimal side effects. It consists of very large mg doses of narcotic pain meds and something like 3 different kinds for instant relief, extended relief for bedtime and breakthrough pain.
The doc prefers she use only walgreens to fill meds and many times she is judged and harassed by pharmacists, lied to on two occasions and today the pharmacist flat out refused the monthly refill. The guy took it upon himself to decide that my mom does not need her refill this month since she has other pain meds. The guy even said that she has too many pain meds and he; who has never even met her, doesnt know her illness or anything about her... alters her doctor's prescription regiment after years of trying so many other treatments and meds. the current regiment would not be in place if it wasn't needed or if there was some other method or if my mom and her doc hadnt exhuasted all other means.
The pharmacist told us that he would give her one day supply until he contactcs her doc who isnt in for two more days. He actually told my mom she didnt need the refill and I told him the script is lagit and has been for some time and we always fill it there. The man said there is no since arguing (as if we were) that she go home and he will call her doc to verify why she needs so many meds and he sternly said not to call him either just to wait for his call. Upon our efforts to complain about past harassment, i learned that walgreens policy is that all prescription fills are at the discression of the individual pharmacist so they are allowed to refuse for any reason.
Further, the pharmacist filled a one day supply yet printed on the label that he filled the full quantity over 200 pills so we called to tell him knowing the importance of medication label accuracy and the guy said it was no problems and makes no difference and hung up on my mom.
We have complained to the doc before about walgreens but the doc really preferred we stay with them but this next vist we are going to demand a new pharmacy on the pain contract.
As far as i know, a pharmacist is not a medical doctor and has never treated my mom for her illness. I do not understand how he or any pharmacist has any right to make adjustments my mom's treatments. We are tired of her being humiliated almost every time she gets her meds just because they are pain meds and she gets 15 other scripts from them as a huge revenue source they are about to loose but dont seem to care.
This pharmacist was the pharmacy manager so we will start by talking to the store manager after she gets her meds. Anyone know of another source to file a complaint about bad customer service knowing we cant dispute the decision not to fill a script.

Don't Understand Insurance
My Blue Cross plan is a Health Savings Account. We get $1400/per year/per family. After the $1400 is used up, we pay cash for any doctor visits, lab, RX etc.
I guess the Walgreens was out of the generic blood pressure meds I was prescribed, so they took it upon themselves to give me the equilivent brand name med. Their reasoning was: "I ran it through and it was free!". I explained to them that everything is "free" until I use up my allotment. She couldn't understand it. I told her I did not want the brand name meds, that I wanted generic, and could wait for them to order it. She said "well it's free, so I can't figure out why you want the generic", and slammed the phone down. They keep trying this every month, so instead of having $4 taken out of my health savings account, I get $62 taken out. What a dope, I transferred all my prescriptions to Walmart, which will probably be another messed up situation.

Inconsiderate Company
I have been working at Walgreens for five and a half years. I have learned every area of the store, except pharmacy. This includes photo, cosmetics, main, sims and have worked the stock room. I constantly watch people get hired in the company one day and then a year later are management. I have busted my ass, not goofing off, listening to mangement, being polite to the customers, etc. When I went for an interview for assistant manager I was told in exact words, "You don't have super star quality." The thing that irks me even more is that my EXA- step below store manager, doesn't even know photo, which is mandatory for all management. How do you know more then even some managers and get turned down???? I am not one to complain about much. I haven't ever gone to district and complained about how our store manager belittles everyone in the store, thinking that he is smarter then everyone else. He has very little respect for people in general, including the customers. He has made every woman in our store cry at some point. The sad thing about it, this is the type of people district looks for as management, not kind and considerate people, but people who treat their employees like shit. It's not that I didn't have "super star" quality, it is that I don't have "asshole" quality. Another thing is they push for the employees to sell the "Item of the Month" so much, that some people have even been threatened to lose their job if they didn't sell more. That is the reason they gave me for not getting a mangement position. I didn't sell enough. They want the employees to pester every single customer that walks through the door. I thought it was a freaking pharmacy not Telemarketing. I didn't know the quality of my worth was based on how much I sell. We have actually had customers complain about being bothered every time they come in, to buy the the Item of the Month. People don't want to be haressed when alot of them are elderly and just coming in to get their perscription filled. All in all, I think Mr. Walgreens would be disappointed to see his family company become just another victim to coperate america. Walgreens used to care about their employees, now they only care about opening stores and sucking people of every dime they have. They look at loyal employees as dispensable, and have even used the economy as a means to scare them into doing things they didn't have to do before. I would not recommend this establishment as a place to work.
