Walgreens Pharmacy Reviews

Lack of consistency
We have dealt with our local Walgreens pharmacy for years. Our needs have been sporadic with occassional illnesses requiring prescription medications. However, in the past 5 years or so, our health situation has changed dramatically. We are ordering up to 10 different medications in any given month. Our Walgreens staff has been wonderful and we have made a personal connection and totally felt like our local staff cared about us. BUT, now the store seems to have turned into a training center. Each time we go in to do business, the staff has changed. There is no personal connection; mistakes have been made in either filling the prescriptions or with billing issues. We are asking ourselves if it is really worth it to stick by Walgreens. There are other pharmacies in town that seem smaller and perhaps would give us the small town caring atmosphere that once existed at our own Walgreens. One more chance is all you get...we can go elsewhere.

Charging for mediceine
Run a way from Walgreens Pharmacy very quickly run back to CVS. CVS is one of the best pharmacy who is always looking in to help out their patient. Why and how let me tell you. I just come back from Walgreens Pharmacy located on East Main Street in Meriden, CT. On 8/16/2010 around 4:30 PM I was trying to pick up heart medicine for my husband. The assistant from the pharmacyst told me there is some problem with my insurance and because of it I had to pay cash and get reambased from the insurance company. I asked the assistant does she can give me just 2 pills untill I will resolve this matter with my insurance company. I was told by her after she spoke with the pharmacyst I have to pay $12.00 per pill (the medicine was Plavix) and I know from my previous expirience that the CVS give my husband before pills for the next 3 days free of charge and I was back before the 3 days went by and get my medicine any way. You probably think why I went to the Walgreens if the CVS acrross the street was giving such a good outstanding service I will be honest because I was to unpatient with one of the weekend staff. I got my lesson I just come home and called the CVS from the East Main street and ask them to transfer all my scipts from the Walgreens back to CVS and I will never go back. The all staff from the CVS starting with David Ho who is the manager pharmacyst and all his assistants like : Brian, Carmen, Debbie, Jen and Waleska and the rest of his great staff. Just plese do not go on weekends when Nancy works(she is the PT wekend pharmacyst) she has no clue whats oustanding customer service stands for???She was the main reason I left the CVS but this is another story.
PLEASE Remember the CVS on 839 East Main Street in Meriden, CT is one of the BEST PHARMACY's don't go to Walgreens.
Sincerely,

wrong prescription
I dropped off a prescription for Pamelor on 7/13/10 and picked it up the next day. I am to take this medication before bedtime so I did not notice the mistake till late in the evening and realized I was given the wrong medication. They gave me Prozac. I know mistakes can happen so you should really be aware of what you are taking. Lesson learned, check the prescription before leaving pharmacy!!!

discrimination againts seniors & disable.
walgreens has advertisements and a policy which states "federal and state statutes prohibit persons enrolled in a publicly funded health care program to participate in this program." the program is the walgreens prescription savings club. the statement and policy is totally incorrect. false. federal and state statutes do not prohibit. walgreens is discriminating against all medicare, medicaid and triaid persons.

Never thought that a company like Walgreens would resort to such underhanded business
I picked up a 3 month supply of non generic medication paid the high price for my pills, when I got home and opened the pills they were not the usual color or shape...so I returned to the pharmacy to get some answers, the girl behind the counter was adament that they were just made by another manufacturer... I was not convinced and wanted assurance that I was not getting generic ...well, a very nice pharmacist finally came to my rescue and changed the pills to the correct ones...not only did they expect me to believe that the generic pills were what I received but also were charging me for non generic...I have heard of these types of switches...never thought that a company like Walgreens would resort to such underhanded business.

Better take your business elsewhere
I attempted to fill a prescription at the Walgreens in Hurst, TX for my mother who had just been released from the hospital. Not only did the prescription take 3 hours to fill (was promised 2 hours -still ridiculous) Employee Cole was very rude when i called to check on why the prescription was late- responding with "we service over 1, 000 customers a day. I don't know when it will be ready...could be 45 more minutes, could be 3 more hours." WOW. We will be taking our business to the CVS across the street.

Bad customer service
I took a bottle of Eucerin Lotion back to the store I purchased it from (Walgreens Pharmacy located on Perris Blvd in the city of Moreno Valley, Ca.). I didn't have the original receipt with me (couldn't find it) so when I entered the store I immediately told the clerk (Irene, I believe) near the entrance that I was only bringing it back to do an exchange for a different lotion, as this brand was not adequate for my needs. It had not been used. Irene said only the manager could authorize an exchange and so she called him over. His name was Sergio Ramero. He looked closely at the bottle I had brought in and then walked away, without explanation, to see if he could locate the same bottle on the store shelf. Before coming back to me he then went into a back-office with the bottle. When he returned a few minutes later (btw, I had no idea where he went or what he was doing) his attitude was that he couldn't justify giving me an exchange because, according to him, that product had not been sold in his store for the past month. I explained to him that that might be true because I did, in fact, purchase it approximately a month before. We didn't disagree about that, however, he also said that he was not going to do the exchange because he couldn't tell that it was even purchased in "his" store. I asked him to simply scan the UPC code or other bar-coded information on the bottle in order to verify that the product came from "his" store. He said, in no uncertain terms, in fact, angrily, that he wouldn't and that there was no information on the bottle that would indicate it even came from Walgreens. At that point I then offered my credit card that I used for the original purchase in order to try tracking Walgreens system as a way of verifying the purchase and he said again "no", that Walgreens isn't a Target-type operation that can do that. By now I had become frustrated at not only his responses, but his demeanor, his attitude towards me, and his overall lack of customer-oriented skills. He just didn't grasp the concept that I was there, as a customer, (I already had several items I was planning on purchasing before his involvement) whose purchase not only effect Walgreens' financial bottom-line, but that I was indirectly contributing to his own salary and benefits. He finally, and with a great deal of consternation, said he would give me a 'store-credit' for the bottle I was returning, and I then told him that a credit was the same to me as an exchange, which was all I wanted to do in the beginning! He never got it!!! After I told him that and asked why he was being as belligerent as he was, he then changed his mind about giving me the store-credit and told me to take the bottle to another Walgreens and if I had a problem with him I should come back and tell it to his boss, the store manager. He was clear that he would not, under any circumstances, allow me to do any kind of exchange in "his" store. I emphasis "his" because he was pretty adamant that he was the "boss" and it was "his" store, and that things happened there according to his dictate. So sad!! I hope that Walgreens or someone associated with Walgreens, either as part of corporate management, corporate customer service, or any stakeholders in Walgreens doesn't take this complaint lightly. This guy Sergio, is NOT doing the name of the business any good with the attitude he displayed to me today. I am absolutely sure that from what I experienced today, that I am NOT the only Walgreens customer in our area who has had the misfortune of dealing with Sergio and has left the store with nothing less than a bad taste in their mouth because of it. My experience also left me feeling like he thought I was a common criminal trying to scam the store... Too bad that his people-skills are as lacking as they are. As consumers, we come to stores like Walgreens to spend hard-earned money on goods offered and expect at least to be treated like we're appreciated. Today Walgreens didn't treat me like a valued customer...and with a Rite-Aid, A CVS and a Costco and a Sam's Club all within a mile of this particular Walgreens, the choice is pretty easy to NOT return to this Walgreens for anything, especially if it means running into an attitude like the one displayed by Sergio Ramero... Thanks for taking the time to read this...

attitude
FIRST OF ALL THIS STORE IS THE WORST DRUGSTORE I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. THEY ARE NEVER PREPARED WITH YOUR PRESCRIPTION THEY ALWAYS ACT LIKE THEY ARE ON THEIR COMPUTER SCREEN AND THEY HAVE A PREJUDICE TOWARDS WHITE PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY THINK THE WORLD OWES THEM SOMETHING BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK. I ASKED THEM TO LOAN ME ONE PILL (ZOLOFT) WHICH I HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED FOR OVER 20 YEARS. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT WITH THIS MEDICATION THAT YOU DO NOT SKIP A DAY. I HAVE HAD THIS PARTICULAR PRESCRIPTION REFILLED AT THIS LOCATION FOR OVER 10 YEARS BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT LOAN ME ONE DOSE BECAUSE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW. THAT IS FINE BUT THE REGUALAR PHARMACIST HAS ALWAYS LOANED MY MEDICATION WHILE THEY GET IN TOUCH WITH THE DOCTOR TO GET AUTHORIZATION TO REFILL MY ORDER. I ORDERED A REFILL FOR THIS PRECIPTION 4 DAYS BEFORE A RAN OUT SO I WOULD HAVE THIS ALL STRAIGHT WHEN I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE REFILL, BUT THIS LOCATION NEVER INFORMED THAT THE DR. DENIED IT THEY JUST MADE IT INACTIVE AND JUST LEFT ME TO DEAL WITH IT ON MY OWN. I AM NOT A BITTER PERSON BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SUE THEIR ASS BECAUSE THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DISPENSE MEDICATION TO PEOPLE. NEVER GOTO WALGREENS BECAUSE THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! THIS IS NOT OVER!!!

no brains in that pharmacy dept.
After a long bout of oral surgery I went to fill pick up my prescriptions which had been called in by my doctor's office. The doctor requested I hand them the prescriptions to confirm the correct items were filled. The prescriptions had my name, address, and DOB written on them.

Wallgreens:
-----------------
- First asks me my name (after looking at the prescriptions!)
- Gets confused and takes a long time back and forth, presumably because I handed the written prescriptions over, even though they had been called in.
- Finally, insists on me telling them my address. I said it is on the prescription, and this started more discussions and delay. They came back to me and said they had to have me provide verbal confirmation of my address before they could give me the Rx. Now, I had minutes ago handed them this information, written down on the Rx, and they had been attending to me during the entire intervening few minutes. So I rather painfully vocalized my address, to get my prescriptions, but not after first saying "hurts" and pointing at my mouth, after which the lady again said she couldn't release my prescription without verbal confirmation of my address (which as I said was written down on the Rx I just gave to her).

I was in enough pain that I dared a little more so I could get the means to make the pain less. But It sure left me unhappy, and incredulous that such lunacy and pure brainlessness actually exists.
