Fired
My name is Jon; I joined the Walgreens management team in January 2008 and was recently discharged. During the two years that I worked for the company I’ve noticed that in many cases that justice is handed out totally at the discretion for the Manager there at the moment, is this Walgreens policy?
It is strange to me that nothing in my history with Walgreens was taken into account prior to making the decision to dismiss me. The fact that I had nothing but GOOD customer feedbacks and my last evaluation I was rated as exceeding standards seemed to mean nothing, is that policy of Walgreens?
I’m a retired vet and in the military issues are black and white for the most part. If someone isn’t performing their duties you talk with the person and have them correct it, you don’t discharge them with on warning and you always look at the person history to see if this is out of character for them since there may be another problem behind the situation.
I my case I admitted to loosing my temper with and employee and yelling at her. The situation started when a customer approached me complaining that she had been sitting in the drive-thru for 20 to 30 minutes and the pharmacist was ignoring her. The customer walked to the pharmacy to talk to the pharmacist face to face and 30 to 60 seconds later the pharmacist called for me to come to the pharmacy. I called her and said I know what it was about and to handle it, she hadn’t even tried if it had been less than a minute. Then she called the clerk at the front register and had them call me, at that time I when to the pharmacy and that was what I lost my temper, she didn’t even attempt to handle the situation. When I arrived the customer in question was standing back at the wait here line several feet from the register, waiting.
I, and other MGT’s, had complained to the Store Manager on many occasions about this one pharmacist, that she has problems working alone and if a customer becomes upset, whether rightly or wrongly she tends to make the situation worse. Even her communication skills with us the MGT’s is questionable, so I can understand how the customers may become upset. Just the night prior to this situation I had problems with her communicating with me, I was assisting a customer in the drive-thru, I had to ask three times what the wait time was because the pharmacist, three times, talked about other customers in the store and that she was busy. I affirmed that she was busy but that wasn’t answering my question, the customer wanted to know what to come back.
In my situation I admitted to getting angry and loosing my temper. This was the first and only time I did, and that seemed to be forgotten in this. I’m known for keeping my cool in very, very stressful situations, in fact my store, at the time #925 in Tucson AZ, I was robbed at gun point. I had two mask gunmen come in point a gun in my face and made me empty the safe. Even in that situation I had the frame of mind to lead them to the office in a way that they wouldn’t see my co-worker, another MGT, so he could get away and call 911. We then moved to a new store “10879 and may of the problems we faced in the old one where gone. So please believe me when I say that when I lost my temper that night it was months of handling customer complains on this one pharmacist and reporting problems and nothing happening to correct it.
I was told I created a hostile work environment; the definition that I read this doesn’t fit. There must be more than one instance to create an “environment”. Also trying to correct a performance problem is no where in the description. I have started to consider that there may be other reasons why the manager decided to dismiss me instead of other actions, it could have been a personal thing or may because I was openly gay and he had a problem with that. I would have considered moving if he had personal reasons for keeping the pharmacist. This would have been bothersome for me since my store was a 5 minute walk and I love my area, but I would have moved if need be.
I loved my new career at Walgreens, I’m the kind of person that says and always tries to make improvements. I retired after 20 years in the US Air Force and I thought I found a career that suited me and that I could feel proud of. I feel that not having any appeal process is wrong and hope this can and would be corrected.

treatment
i was treated badly as a customer @ a jackson walgreens, monday march 8, 2010. i could hear the conversation between the tech and the insurance company. she said she could not read the writing. this is the only store that fills my perscription, the only doctor that i use & i seem to get one tech all the time. which seems to be very rude. i was over charged and was told that my insurance would not pay for the perscription and i could pay for it myself. which i did because i called my company and i paid the full price for this medicine. i could hear her telling the nurse when she called to verfy what she thought it was and of course the nurse agreed and thus that was the way it was filled, despit my objections. it was not only different from what i usually get, it was twice the price. i am medical personnel i understood every word that was said. it seems as though i was treated this way because they thought i didn't know any better. is this the way you treat people all the time. i am looking for a new phamacy. i will not accept this treatment. and to add insult to injury i did not get a full month's supply.

price
I have shopped at this store several times and each time there is at least one item that rings up more at the register than is marked. Last time I was there, I purchased two items and they both rung up more at register; when I bring this to clerks attention they are very good about giving me the right price. I don't know why this happens, but doesn't make shopping there a very good experience

Pharmacy awful service
I am writing to you because I've never experience such a bad service before!!
Today was an awful service. I came to the Walgreen's' pharmacy to order medicine, stuff took the order around 2:30pm and said that it will be ready around 3:30, I came at 3:30 and lady (another one) said that "you order scheduled at 4:00pm (oh, reaaaly?!), then she took my insurance card, check it and said"It is not valid, go and call your insurance" (interesting, every time I use it in different W's it was valid) . So, I already twice waited in the line, around 9-10 people line. I went to my office, call insurance and they said that EVERYTHING IS VALID! I went back at 4:15, STAY IN THE LINE AGAIN and they said "IT IS NOT READY, sit we will call your name", I said "I will be back" and came around 5:15, again waited in the line and they said "IT IS NOT READY", so it was awful and seems that workers are not in the process of doing their work! I said that I do not have anymore time to wait, I have to take child from the daycare and take my pill TODAY. One person was not polite, during that time another customer was very upset and loudly saying that his medicine is delayed for two and a half HOUR!!! After my arguing with worker they said that it will be ready in 15 min and I said that I don't have 15 min, they said "OK, 5 min" BUT IS WAS NOT ready in 5 min!!! VERY BAD SERVICE, STUFF DIDN'T HAVE BADGES, not pleasant to talk with, long lines...everything was so bad.
I NEVER and EVER WILL ORDER in THIS STORE - customer service AWFUL, especially one worker w/o badge!! I will file/write complaint everywhere where I can possibly find to place that complaint.

UNETHICAL SERVICE
I went to the pharmacist at Walgreens on Sunday March 7, 2010 to fill my prescription for Vyvance and Deprocoat, which I take on a regular basis. I told the pharmacist that I still had some Deprocoat so at that time I only wanted to fill the Vyvance. She told me she could not fill only that. I explained to her that I always get one at a time filled because of the cost and she said she could not. By this time it was after 6;00p and all the other pharmacies were closed and I was completely out of my Vyvance. She started scribbling on my script and handed it back to me. I was really angry because I could not fill my script until the following day. On Monday, March 8, 2010 my psychiatrist called and said the pharmacist had called his office and stated that I had been there and was very angry. What right does she have to call my doctor when she didn't even fill the script and not tell him the Exact Truth! She didn't tell him that she wouldn't fill it or that she referred to my med as a controlled substance several times like I didn't know that. I am 18 years old and have a depression problem and see a therapist on a regular basis. I intend to call the board and hopefully had her totally barred from any drug store chain. She is there to fill prescriptions not be judge and jury!!!

coupon refusal
Walgreen's on 801 S.E.17th, Ocala, FL where I shop refused to accept my B1G1 manufacture coupon for the Purex liquid detergent that Walgreen's had on a B1G1 sale. I know others who have received their Purex liquid free except for tax, but I ended up paying for the Purex. They refused to take the coupon and it has now expired and I am very upset with the policies whereby some get service and others are refused. Could you please look into this and explain how some stores accept the B1G1 coupon and others refuse to honor these cpns? Thank you for your help in this matter. Mrs. Peggy Russ 352-351-1095

Checkout
Why is it that every time I go to check out at the Walgreens, the sales associate is always trying to sell me some last minute item like candy or some other item that is laying on the counter? It is a very annoying sales tactic. There's no real conversation or customer service. All Walgreens cares about is making another dollar. Why not ask me if I found everything okay? Most people tend to know why they go to the store. It's not like anyone walks in and says, "uh, why the heck did I come here for"? Please stop pushing these last minute items on me. Otherwise, I may just find myself at CVS Pharmacy.
