Bad service
NO VONTAGE! They are a total scam and unethical company. They offered a 30 day free trial and took all my information and shipped their device. Upon receiving the device, they never informed me I needed to have my Internet modem by my fax and phone line. I called and canceled my account and they did. BUT, they want you to pay for the shipping and handling and if the device is not received within 14 days they will charge your account $85 dollars. This is what is wrong with America, people taking money with S**** service and unethical business practices. How can we as consumers allow companies like this to stay in business? We as consumers have control of supply and demand and we as a people have a voice! This company is not even a member of the BBB, why is this? I believe e if they were they would be out of business.

equipment bill and not explained
i changed service and was charged a disconnect fee 39.99 and a equipment fee 79.99.
then i was informed they do not accept returns on the equipment. this was not stated verbally when i signed up. I feel like i was taken advanage of, not being able to return the equipment. and it was cute when then told me it was part of the contract with vontage. this is not right

took money from my account for early disconted after being a customer for over 13 months
After being a customer for 13 months, signing no contract them trying many times to have my service disconnected they send another withdrawal to my bank account for early ternimation. PLEASE be aware they are someone you DO NOT want to have access to your banking information, The only way I could stop them was to change my bank account. What a scam! I am not done complaining! Not sure who will listen, but PLEASE watch this company. I feel violated!

Held Hostage
I feel like I am being held hostage by Vontage. You can never cancel even if you did everything they asked like waiting two years. I have tried to cancel their service for over a year now but am always told they will charge me 39.99 to do that unless I wait two years. Well it is two year on 7/16 and I called today and they told me if I cancel today which is the 14th I will be charged a cancelation fee. I already paid through the 16th but no one there can understand that. My only 2 options I was told by the 2nd Supervisor (?) I spoke to is to call back on the 16th or they can cancel it today and charge me the fee. I have never seen customer service like this before. PLEASE IF YOU ARE THINKING OF USING VONTAGE JUST KNOW YOU ARE IN IT FOR LIFE BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT LET YOU GO..., .WITH OUT CHARGING YOU SOME UNFAIR FEES.

Pass Trail Period
Called the Vontage Company for Information about the Phone Service and Opt to sign up for Service. The first two days after the equipment arrived I had nothing but problems and made eight calls in five weeks. On the nineth call I told the person that I have done everything possible to make this equipment work and I would like to cancel the service. On the eight calls I had told them that if this does not work then I am going to cancel this service, they in turn told me "Yes Sir, let us try this first and then if it does not work then we could close out your account". After the last call was made they told me that I have a $79.99 charge for the equipment and a $39.99 for earlier termination fee. I am still trying to resolve these charges with a letter to Corp Legal Dept. of Vontage.

vontage took money off my card though they declined to accept it
i tried to order a telephone from vontage.i gave them my card info. and they said they could not accept it. but when i looked up my account transactions i saw my card was charged .can you fix this problem?

drop calls
I am getting calls that are dropped before I can understand the caller. At times when I pick up the phone to make a call the phone goes dead. Calls are being directed to voicemail even on the first ring.

ripping customers off
My brother requested Vontage service on March 1, 2008, the rep advised my brother that he needed a computer to obtain the service, he informed the rep that he did not own one and advised the rep during the same telephone conversation of that fact and asked to forget about the call. On Mach 3, 2008 vontage sent out the hook-up device, my brother sent it back on March 26, 2008. Vontage has been drafted money out of his account since March. When they were notified they told us it is because the account was still open, the rep stated she was looking atbthe initial information and sees where the account was opened in March and where the request to close it at that time was made. The reason my brother did not know this until now is because he does not receive a paper statement from the bank and he seldom looks at the electronic one. At any sense Vontage does not want to repay him for the 6 months they have been deducting funds from his account. They said they have been sending electronic statements to him, how can that be remember he doesn't have a computer and they have not sent anything to my address. 2 lessons learned: check your bank statements and do not deal with Vontage.

Customer Service
I don't use my vonage phone service so I tried to cancel. All of a sudden there were all of there charges and fees that they never mentioned before. The talk about there free trial, but if you keep them your stuck with them for years. There worse than the cell phone companies. Then when you do try to talk to someone, there in India and its imposable to understand them. Avoid Vontage at all cost.
