They wont please their customer
I have had Vonage for eleven months and up until about two months ago all was ok. Then, for no reason I have begun to have issues whereas people whom I call advise that that my voice is all choppy. I replaced my phones, cable box and router, but still the problem continues. I have called Vonage numerous times and they run tests and tell me to continue to try the service. I have advised them over and over that all my equipment has been changed which leaves me to believe the only way to fix this is for Vonage to replace my Vonage box. No matter how many times I call and no matter how many times I email them, they continue to blow me off. They continue to try to place the blame on Comcast or my phone or my modem. I have done the tests and the Vonage Device (BOX) is causing issues with up loaded data. It's that simple. A replacement box may very well fix the problem, so why won't they just please a customer. The box is still under the one year warn.
My one year contract is up next month. If they don't change out this Vonage Device, I intend to dump Vonage. If they can't serive a good customer, I say screw them. I've had it with this company who talks a lot, but doesn't deliver.

BAD Customer Service
Do NOT use Vonage! I'd been a customer with them for 3 years and the service itself was decent but recently found a way to make money off my phone bill and others so I switched to a different provider. I called today to cancel and all was well until I had the following conversation with the the customer service agent:
CSR: "Oh, I see you upgraded equipment in November of last year. We'll have to charge you $86 for it."
Me: "No, I don't want to keep it. Tell me where to ship it back."
CSR: "I'm sorry, you can't ship it back. It's part of your contract and you have to keep it."
Me: "Let me get this straight. I've been a customer for 3 years and you were going to cut my bill in half to stay but you won't let me send back this now useless equipment AND you're going to charge me $86 for it??"
CSR: "Yes"
Me: "Then I'm glad I'm canceling your service. I'll never use you again AND I'll make sure to spread the word on how you treat your 'loyal customers'."
Moments after hanging up I then get an email from Vonage saying, "We've successfully charged your credit card for $86..."
Wow, just wow. Pass the word along.

Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices
Vonage got the best of me over the past 2 days. First off I called to request that they give me the pricing that they are giving new customers only to learn that "they are sorry but do not have such offers in place for existing customers" They go on to say how much they appreciate my business (1.5 years) as opposed to saying what is really the truth of "we really enjoy screwing good customers while we give away the farm to attract new ones"
So after pondering this for a day I decided what the heck, I really dont need a landline anyway as this was just old habit right! So I first tried to cancel service via the web (the same way that I ordered it) only to learn that you have to call and get the pleasure of speaking with some low level employee who's primary language is something other than English...Next, they cancel my service and then I get an "oh, by the way. your cancellation fee will be $39.95 plus tax..." and WAIT!! THERES MORE!!! "we are unable to process a partial months credit that you have pre-paid because thats the way the system works"
Ok, so now this is done and I have had 3 email exchanges with Vonage customer care in an attempt to make things right and they have all been to no avail. They are UNWILLING TO MAKE IT RIGHT AT THE RISK OF THIS HAPPENING!! THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE!!!
That said, it is now my personal mission to help 100 people learn about the perils of doing business with Vonage and to prevent Vonage from getting that business.

Fraudulent Credit Card Charges
After nearly a month of trying to become a customer, with tech support trying to make the Vonage technology work (tech support was awesome, by the way; it was the technology that wasn't working), I finally decided to cancel the service.
I figured I would get a full refund given that they never go the service working.
BUT, not only were they not going to get me a refund, they had the audacity to try and charge me cancellation fees -- for canceling a service they could not render! Blew me away.
So I turned to my two Visa Bank companies to dispute the original charges. I took care of one, and had them reissue a new credit card with a new number.
When I talked to the second Visa bank, they wanted to confirm that each of the charge lines represented a separate phone line charge, and that they never got any of them working. I confirmed that. And then they wanted to confirm that they were unwilling to give me my money back, and were trying to charge me more money. I confirmed that too.
The bank customer service rep put me on hold to discuss the matter with their manager, then came back and said that this wasn't a simple dispute / charge back. That this was systemic fraud, and they would have to look into this more deeply.
Fraud. Wow. You know, they were right. I never thought of it that way.
So, that inspired me to by the VonageFraud.com domain name, and to start chronicling the events of my account with Vonage.
So go to www.VonageFraud.com. And, be careful about your decision to go with Vonage. If things don't work out, you could be in trouble.

Wrond ad
Vonage has phone deal called "vonage world plan" for $24.99+tax. It includes unlimited phone calls to 60 countries. I got this deal from vonage since I call my wife in India a lot. A couple of days ago I got an email from vonage asking me to cut down the usage of the phone otherwise they are going to change my plan to higher plan. What I don't understand is when vonage say "unlimited" what do they really mean?!?!?!?!?

Terrible Service
Ridiculous that I have to pay a 5 month disconnect fee after having the service for 2 years!
The World Vonage Calling Service Sucks, you can never get a connection
The call quality is terrible and I only put up with it because the telcos charge over $80 a month
Bottom line, telecomm in the U.S. is a monopoly and the customer gets screwed
I am so glad I am no longer living in the U.S.
Good riddance to bull crap companies screwing people

Wasted my time and in today's world that's not a good thing
I am a second time customer of Vonage . I used their service for my first business and transferred the phone when I sold it. I was so happy with the service that I got several friends to switch to Vonage and I got another phone for my real estate business. I realized I was not using the line and tried to cancel. The girl told me that I had to wait a year or pay over $100 in cancellation fees. So... I waited a year, then I was told I needed to wait two years or I would be charged $39.00. Also, you cannot cancel online which is just a way to try and get you not to cancel. It is a waste of my valuable time. I was on the line for 24 minutes and while the person's English was excellent, there were times that I couldn't understand her which added to my frustration. Jobs need to be here in America! The superviser came on the line and gave me the run around. Both told me I had to write a letter of dispute. I am very, very unhappy with Vonage and when I open another business, I will not use them and I will never recommend them to another friend. You have lost far more money than the $39.99 that you gained! I will also be calling the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey to complain. Your service is excellent. I never had a problem with a connection and I would probably have come back but never again! You wasted my time and in today's world that's not a good thing.

I have to pay almost $100 on top of their monthly fees to discontinue my usage
I just paid $97.40 to end my account with Vonage . I am very dissappointed. I have to pay almost $100 on top of their monthly fees to discontinue my usage. This is outrageous, and I plan to go out of my way to tell friends and family NOT to use Vonage.
