unauthorized charges on my card
I inquired at vonage about international call, the agent told me that they have unlimited calls program to philippines, agent told me all the set up fees and I said I dont want the service because the fees were rediculuos, then she told me that she will waive all the charges except for the $14.00 for shp and handling then I said ok I gave her my credit card and then she said she made a mistake instead of $14.00 I will be charge $60.00 then I said NO but she said its already been charge, she gave me a customer service number but once they know that you are trying to get a refund they will put you on hold for minutes then they will transfer you to a different agent to make it short they will try everything so that you cant get your money back, then after 60 days I got another charge for the services that I dont have, I dont even have any equipment from vonage, never had any even a piece of wire, then my bank called them disputing the charges and my bank told them I intend to cancel the "service" that I never had in the first place and vonage sent me an email that they will charge me for $119.88 for cancelling the service, this people are crooks, please spread the word, they are nothing but a common thief, beware dont give them your credit cards, Its a nigthmare, worse of the worse company, what else can I do to make sure that other dont become a victim, is there any gov't agency that can investigate this crooks?

Terrible service!
Apparently when you sign up for Vonage online you are "signing" for a year. Our family had to move as it happens we are only able to get DSL internet services where we live now. Guess what Vonage doesn't care! They had informed me that there would be a $40.00 charge for canceling 2 months before my year "contract" was over! Just be sure you want to keep this for a year before you do it. The service was ok but the customer service SUCKS!!! They will hang up on you, put the phone down, whatever they have to do to wear you down! JUST think twice!!

This company sucks and everyone should call their Better Business Bureau!
Vonage - www.vonage.com
We live on disability and was looking for a cheaper phone company.Went on internet looked into vonage (did not know about Complaints.com) Signed up for the 1 Month free service offered at $24.95. Got to billing page found out that they were charging $29.95 for activation fee. Signed up anyway only to find out that this transaction was costing $47.94 I signed up on 10/13/07 the router which i realized had to be hooked up. I have certain things on my phone line for contacting medical alert for my husband so I decided this would be too much of a hassle. Called Vonage on 10/16/07 to tell them to cancel order.Router which you need to use Vonage service was not even shipped yet. I have called twice and was told my CS that their system was updating. On 10/16 when I called they said the system was updating but CS went into why I was cancelling. I answered her any questions after about five minutes of this I got POed and told them to just cancel the order. She said they would cancel the order but I needed to pay $13.99 to cancel she started to say something about this was a temporary charge By this time I am livid told her they already have 47.94 that was mine and that I would tell everyone I knew about this bogus company I told them I was going on internet and let everyone know how they take your money and you can not get it back. Checked email today 10/22/07 Order status is still pending this means the router was not shipped yet can not get money until I receive or decline the shipment. THIS COMPANY SUCKS AND EVERYONE SHOULD CALL THEIR BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN THEIR STATE TO STOP DOING BUSINESS WITH A TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN VONAGE COMPANY.

Bad, scam advertisement
I received a email from Vonage yesterday.
I have the 39,99$ plan that allows me to call anywhere in Canada and United States. Its supposedly unlimited. I call one precise number in the United States, and its to talk to my boyfriend since we live apart from each other. Vonage was inexpensive, and gave me what I wanted : a connection to him whenever I wanted. I been with Vonage for 2 years now because of their offers and good prices, and I never had any troubles until now.
They now want to upgrade my account to 99,99$, thinking I run a company. This is a residential house, and I use my phone line legally. Most of my calls are at that one number, which is also a residential house. If I am a company, why would I be only calling one person for such a long period of time? Its false advertising in my opinion. They told me I should only be talking for 2-3 hours per day on the phone. If its the case, then why say its unlimited? This is frustrating... They also told me I would need to either calcel my account entirely or upgrade to the 99,99$ fee per month, the price for companies.
Although, there is one thing I do not understand.
I looked up different prices Vonage was offering, and the most expensive one was at 69,99$ for unlimited calls for a company. Right now, they want me to switch to a 99,99$ plan, that only gives me 5000 minutes a month. All I can say is, do not call your phone plan UNLIMITED if you can't talk for an UNLIMITED time. What a scam..
Thank you for reading,
Marie

Poor service!
I called to cancel my Vonage service July 31st, 2007. After getting harassed for at least 20- possibly even 30 minutes, I was told that I would have to call back because cancellations were done in real-time. I never agreed to the free months they offered, or different plans, or anything else, but stuck to my guns that I needed to cancel.
No other service I have ever had to deal with has ever made it so difficult to cancel. My initial call was sufficient enough to cancel. When we called to cancel our business Vonage line, they did it right then, although they did say we weren't entitled to a refund of any used days, which I completely agreed with and didn't mind at all. We had unused days on our consumer line also, but wouldn't have minded that they kept that payment even though there weren't any services offered; I just wanted to have the service canceled. (Although in retrospect, every other company I've ever dealt with, from utilities to insurance to rent payments are prorated for the actual days of service. Why does Vonage get away with keeping payments for days of no service? Just another example of their unethical company?)
I kept getting billed, although they "suspended" my account (which means I couldn't use it, but they would still bill me for it, even though I had canceled it?) INSTEAD of canceling it as I had requested, and each month would correspond through several emails that I had canceled. I would even get emails that would say their representatives would call me, which they never did, and one final email which would say I must call. All of this I have on record.
I called again September 26 and before the representative could give me the pre-printed runaround spiel, I told her in no uncertain terms that I needed to make sure the account was canceled and that I should not have a balance. "Faye" even tried to keep me as a customer, although she admitted we didn't use the service! What she meant was she would be happy to continue having Vonage bill me for NO SERVICES! I can't think of any company who can get away with billing someone for nothing. Vonage shouldn't be allowed to continue this practice. After a Google search revealed this is a common practice with Vonage, I cannot let my complaints go unheard.
All I'm asking is for Vonage to respect the fact that I called to cancel on July 31st and that I should not have been billed in subsequent months. I'm not asking for anything for free, and they shouldn't either. It is unfair, unethical, and surely the beginning of the end of Vonage. Vonage employes unfair pressure and harassment to try to keep the customers they already have.
While I had Vonage service, I was pleased and would refer my friends to Vonage. My tune has changed. Any company who tries to obtain money from someone and not offer any service must be an company who is operating illegally, and I cannot possibly continue to tout the advantages of their "services."
My request is simple and completely fair. July 31st is my cancellation date, and my balance is 0.00. I should not have to pay for services which I canceled in good faith, and which were unused.

Sent incomplete package for system
I have gone around an around with this company. This, for example was not initially the help I was seeking. Since we're hear; in order of complaints, #1 Vonage totally messed up my initial contact by not debiting my account, as I was told, did not have my correct address, even though she repeated it back to me correctly. After waiting 4 days past the date it was promised to be delivered, I placed another cal and was told that the technician had not debited my account, as she said, did not have the correct zip code. #2 After being told I needed to start a new account, which I did, with one exception. As, I was told that my funds had been debited, which did not happen, I was told I would have to pay another deposit. My bank account, by this time was depleted to the point where if I paid this it would overdraw my account thereby causing me a $28.50 service charge which I was not willing to do. After much contemplation I decided I would send a cashier's check via 1 day delivery. Upon telling that night's technician, she assured me that the deposit would not be necessary in the light of what I had already gone through. She also promised next-day delivery and 1 month free service. I was elated and after some urging was given her executive in charge of her area's email address. After sending a message singing the accolades of Vonage, I waited again. The system was not delivered. #3 Back to the phone I went and after further debate about my account with a senior technician I was promised delivery no later than 9/27/07. The order was just delivered but, surprise, the kit was not complete. I don't know where Vonage's people went to school, but where I come from, we use telephone handset to place calls! Evidently, that is not the case with Vonage, as there was not a handset in the package. I have been run in circles once again to justify this error. I no longer have ANY phone system as I cancelled my cell phone account before I went into another billing period.(My mistake!) In conclusion I would like to state, as I did to Vonage, I am in the beginning stage of treatment for liver cancer. No light subject. I insist that this problem is rectified IMMEDIATELY by Vonage or whatever source is available. I fully intend to report them to the Better Business Bureau an am contemplating contacting an attorney. My resources are limited though since I have only SSI benefits to draw on and this was not in my plans for any budget. I f you could rectify this situation, It would be greatly appreciated. Deceitful tactics!
I signed on with Vonage on Sept 8th. The rep I spoke with never mentioned that my phone service was dependent on internet service. Brad asked who did I have DSL with and I told him it was Verizon. I also told him that I didn't want to switch my DSL from Verizon which he stated that wouldn't be a problem. On Sept 20 my phone line was completely transferred from my previous phone carrier. I could make a phone call but I couldn't receive a call. I called Vonage and for 2 1/2 hours tried to resolve this issue. On Sept 21 I told Vonage I wanted to cancel my service because my request to have phone service for calling and receiving calls didn't look like it was going to happen. On Sept 21 (Friday) when I arrived home from work I had no dial tone. I didn't make an attempt to contact Vonage on the weekend because I was truly fed up with Vonage. On Monday Sept24 I called Vonage to explain my problem. I was told that I NEED DSL SERVICE TO HAVE PHONE SERVICE WITH VONAGE BUT VONAGE DISCONNECTED MY DSL SERVICE WITH VERIZON. And if I wanted DSL service with Verizon I should call Verizon and ask for them to reconnect my DSL. How are they going to disconnect a service that I need in order to have phone service?? As far as I am concerned Vonage reps are deceitful in how they sell the Vonage service. NO ONE told me that Vonage phone service can only be had if you have DSL service because it is an internet service. I found that out by asking question after question until the rep finally had to admit what I had eventually figured out. Their commercials do not mention internet in order to have phone service with them. Now I have to wait two weeks before I can get phone service again with Verizon because I don't know what Vonage did with my phone lines. Presently I am without phone service. I have a pregnant daughter and a husband with health problems at home. This is totally unacceptable. It is Vonage responsibility to make sure that I had phone service and they should have done whatever they needed to do to get it done. I will write and tell anyone and everyone about Vonages deceitful tactics.

Vonage stole my money!
Vonage
www.vonage.com
Vonage stole my money! I have just been charged $220 for the cancellation of two lines. I intend to dispute both charges with my credit card companies, but these guys are such crooks, I doubt if I get the refund. I had been a Sunrocket customer for several months and received an offer from Vonage via overnight letter to "quickly" transfer my number and continue uninterrupted phone service. I signed up for the offer, filled out number transfer requests and 911 dialing addresses within an hour of receiving the letter. I received the "free next day" delivery of equipment three days later and installed it (I forwarded the calls via the Sunrocket website to the Vonage virtual numbers). I didn't hear anything from your company for three weeks, but continued to get notices from Sunrocket about disconnection. On the 22nd day after signing up with Vonage my Sunrocket service was disconnected and calls to my telephone numbers were met with disconnection recordings.
I called Vonage to find out what had happened and was told that there was a problem with the number transfer requests and many were lost (trouble ticket #13752554 & 13752605). The agent said that the problem would be resolved within 24 hours. I left for on vacation three days later. When I returned from vacation I found out that I would have to start the number transfer requests all over again. My wife said that enough was enough and insisted on switching back to AT&T. Because this process took 34 days, when I called to cancel I was charged $50 per line for equipment that they wouldn't take back, $19.99 per line shipping and $39 per line disconnection fee. I have never hated a company this much and will tell this story to everyone I can.

Phone service will not work
I set a Vonage phone system to have better service and to be able to call long distance without paying outrageous prices. My husband connected according to their instructions. When I made some calls the person on the other end could not hear me clear and sometimes it cut off some words I was saying to the other person. I called their service line to get help and all connections were checked and were connected properly. I stayed on the phone until almost 12mn(3hrs.) trying to figure out the problem. Then on next morning I was on the phone for almost 2hrs. and still the phone does not work, the same problem still continues. This afternoon I called a third time and the assistant tried something again and it did not work. If they do not have it fixed in 24hrs. I am going to disconnect the Vonage system and return it and get my money back.

Service never worked!
Ordered service they said the the service would be up and running in two to three days. Service never worked. Got the mod. three weeks later. Called on 09/12/07 at 10:15 am was told my wait would be less then 5 mint. Was on hold for about 15. Talk to rep. Jack. told him that I wanted to cancel my service. He kept trying to to avoid canceling my service that I requested. Kept asking the same question over and over. Still would not tell me how to send the mod!
