Van Ru Credit Corporation Reviews

Unwanted rude calls
This company keeps calling my widowed mother and harrassing her. My parents never had credit cards and bought multiple farms without ever having a mortgage. They have never bought anything on credit - cash only.

When these people call, they ask for my deceased father. They are calling under the number 877-784-0497. The few times my mother did answer the phone, the person calling was rude and would not take the answer my father died 6 years ago.

I'm also reporting these people to the state attorney general. If you have family members, especially elderly, please warn them about this company.

Mark Jones was a thief, he stole the car he should pay. Not me
Van Ru Credit Corporation is Charging me for a bill that someone else owes and they know it. They are harassing me and I will not stand for it. They know who really owes the bill. So, don't bother me! If you chose to make a charge then bill the right person. Mark Jones which has the possession of the item(s). He felt that since he had control of the vehicle all he had to do was pay an insurance bill to keep him hidden. But, he cared nothing about paying for the car. Credit Companies would not bother him.

Scam
I have been given misleading and deceptive information from numerous Van Ru employees that I have spoken with.

I would like accounts from Van Ru employees of any of the "tatitcs some of these people use to collect money [that]are ruthless" that they have witnessed from inside the organization.

If you are or were a Van Ru employee and have witnessed other Van Ru employees using deceptive, misleading, unethical or otherwise "ruthless" collection tactics by with customers please share them here.

Likewise, if you are a consumer who has experienced any of the above from VanRu employees please share.

Scam
Someone keeps selling an Account to other Creditors, that has been payed off for over 2 yrs.

I'm tired of having to deal with this. Phone calles at all hours of the Day and Night.

This was a Car Loan and the Vehicle was Repossessed. Do they actually think I will or even could pay this Loan more than one time.

I settled with the original Creditor and payed the remaining Balance.

Why am I being harassed about this Loan over and over?

This is the 4th Creditor trying to collect on this.

BACK OFF!!! I've had it.

People who are not helpful and mess your information up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been working with these idiots for the last several months trying to get my student loan in good status. The worker that they have don't know what the hell they are doing. They send you information that is incorrect. Have your name spelled wrong, numbers wrong and are not willing to help. Why are you working if your can't get the information right. I called the DOE to let them know and they are assholes too! Just send the thing the next day since it is your mess up. The customer service is awful and needs improvement especially when you have a customer that is working with you. Stop being assholes!!!

Phone calls for my dead father
My father passed away in 1997 with no outstanding debts. My mother passed away in 2003 with minor debt that was quickly cleared. In 2008, I began to get phone calls from Van Ru for my father -- a full 11 years after his death. When I informed them that he was deceased, they insisted that they needed a copy of his death certificate. I refused. They called so many times that I ended up setting up call-blocking on my home phone. In 2009, they began calling again with a different number. Blocked that one, and they called with yet another number.

I finally put on my sweet voice and called the last number, asking for the spelling of the company name, could I please find out what this was about, etc. They never identified themselves as a collection agency, I found this out by going online. They said they wouldn't stop calling OR give me any information about the nature of their calls until I provided them with the death certificate.

I'm torn about whether I should do this, because I'm afraid they will then come after me for a non-existent debt.

Threatening letter appeared in the mail one day
Van Ru Credit Corporation sent a threatening letter to me regarding a debt that had been proven to be fraudulently acquired. If I didn't respond within 30 days, they were going to threaten me with a judgment.

Then, when I sent them a certified letter, they took forever to return the return receipt. In fact, they returned the return receipt over 3 weeks after the post office recorded the delivery to their post office box. When I examined the return receipt, I saw that someone signed for the letter, but refused to date it. When I looked at the postmark, I saw that the postmark date had been over a week after the date that the post office recorded.

What a bunch of sleazy sub-humans

Makes it impossible to get ahead of debt
When I found out that my $4K tax refund was intercepted due to my school loan being in default I immediately contacted Sally Mae to find out what I needed to do to get on top of this. I was told that my loan was now being handled by Texas Guarantee Student Loan who told me that they sent the debt to Van Ru. I contacted Van Ru and the rep that I spoke to, Nadia T., informed me my new balance and also let me know that I had been approved for $80 per month payments and that I could make arrangements to have this payment deducted from my bank account each month. I told her that I would call her back when I had time to look at my budget to see which day of the month would be the best time for the payment to go through.

One week later I called back to have the payments set up. I was helped by a new agent by the name of Hope. I explained to Hope that I wanted to make $150 payments each month, but I wanted to specify that the overage I would be paying would be applied to my principal. Hope informed me that they could not do that and that the majority of the money I paid would be applied to my interest and a small amount would be applied to my principal. I told her that if that was the case, I would just make the $80 payment each month. She then tells me that Vn Ru will need over $500 as deposit before they can begin processing the $80 payments. I informed her that Van Ru just took $4K from me under a month ago and that because of that, I did not have $500 to give them and I further explained that I thought it was ridiculous that I was calling to try to arrange payments to them and they were refusing to take my money. She told me that the only way to get on a "repayment" plan was to pay the deposit. I asked her if I mailed them a check for $100 each month were they going to refuse it. She stated that the would accept it, but my loan would still be considered in default and my ssn would still have a lien on it. She also said that my balance was collecting interest on a daily rate and this would not be in my best interest. I asked her if getting on the "repayment" plan would keep the interest from accruing and she said that it would not. So I asked her why was she trying to make it appear that if I paid them a $500 deposit that I would be helping myself when in actuality, being on a "repayment" plan would benefit no one but me. The more I questioned her, the more attitude she displayed and she eventually began to speak over me and cut me off before I could finish. She then said "You either want to get on a repayment plan or you don't, so which is it" I told her that since I did not have an additional $500 to give them after just giving them $4k, that I guess Van Ru was leaving me with no options to do anything other than mail them a payment each month and not get on the "repayment" plan.

Obviously they do not want to make it easy to pay your debt because they want your accout to collect as much interest as possible. They make it impossible to pay it off and they know this. I guess I will need to take out a small loan from my bank to pay this off so that I don't get eaten alive with interest. Certainly there is something that can be done to stop this. It's not like I just decided one morning I was going to stop paying my loan. When you're struggling and you have to decide between paying the electricity bill or paying your student loan payment, logic has to come in to play...

Fraud and scam
I would like to say that if it wasn't for Demetrius C. I would be in big trouble. Van Ru has not been a very good collection agency for me. I have been lied to by so many of the callers, I can't even tell you how many. I have been told so many different things from my account managers I am totally upset. I would like to say that as of right now, my account has been updated but I am just waiting for something to go wrong and the phone calls start up again. I hope my account will still be the same as in the amount I am supposed to pay.

They foisted their job onto the "client"
Today, Van Ru really pissed me off. I called them at their Arizona location only to give them a courtesy call. Commonwealth Edison had been billing me for the past 14 months at my former apartment even though I had been evicted from it 14 months ago. Just today I received their first letter, which prompted me to give them the courtesy call. I carefully explained the situation to the lady who answered, and I told her how she could verify it very simply by looking at a website pertaining to the eviction court. She had me wait a few minutes, saying she would check it out. Then some male, rude goober answered. He had no concern about the fact that I had not even lived there for the past 14 months and that Commonwealth Edison should have known that. He just told me I owed them the money and that I would have to work it out with them. To further aggravate the situation, they lied on the letter when they said the call would be toll free. I just learned they charged me for trying to help them!
