laziness
I have ordered from Amazon for years, which UPS has been the carrier. Recently, the local carrier has stopped leaving packages outside my door and, instead, has dropped them further and further away from my house. Now I find them near the road, outside my gate. A couple of them have 'gone missing.' Anyone who reads this and has a similar compliant, please do what I'm going to do, and file it with the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org) . I believe it's the only way your compliant will be heard.

Falsification of Information
Well I ordered a product to be delivered on the 24th! Well can you guess?
I come home and there is a lovely sticker.. You must sign and leave on door.
I do.
the 24th i go to UPS.com and tell them to leave it at the door as i left the
sticker at the door!
Do I need to go on? Yup the 25th, 26th, and 27th no package! Now its been returned to sender, becuase the person they delivered it to, refused it (not me). (Curse word Liar!)
When I call they say..quote "what so you want me to do, look through 100 boxes to find yours?'
Well actually I do. So when she says that all she can do is to tell me to tell the Shipper to file a Trace on the package AND I CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO GET MY PACKAGE AT THIS POINT!!
So then the (moron) person hangs up on me when i cursed at her! well find my curse word package and we wont have a problem!!
Can I just say how much I LOVE FED EX? argh

UPS Driver
On Tuesday, March 24, 2009 I checked the UPS website to see if a package that was supposed to be delivered via UPS (2nd attempt) had been delivered. The tracking update said that there was an "exception." I found this odd because I knew that my mother had the front door open and was making sure to listen for the package. When I called my mother and told her what happened - she became quite upset and said "the driver lied!" It turns out that my mom just happened to be looking out of the window at 9:45 a.m. and saw the truck come up the street, stop at the stop sign on the corner (right next to my mom's house) and then turns right and keeps going. So at 10:13 A.M. the driver enters in his log this exception stating that "the receiver was not available."
I think it is just a shame that someone can lie like this and get away with it. My daughter called UPS and they claim that the driver will return and deliver the package but so far it has been almost 3 hours and he hasn't shown up. I have sent UPS an email informing them of the incident and I also plan to contact their corporate headquarters.
Do I think it will help? Probably not, but at least I will feel better knowing that I did try to inform them of their driver's incompentence and laziness. During these stressful economic times you would think that someone would be happy to have a decent paying job and would perform it correctly.
From now on I intend to use Fedex or DHL for ALL packages I send.

FRAUD AND THEFT
UPS does not deliver to po boxes. Ups takes packages from shippers addressed to po boxes. FRAUD
UPS randomly checks for a name to match and sends the package to an address with the same name on the package. THEFT Anyone at the random address can keep the package (this has happened several times to myself and my daughter once she is aware of). I designate delivery from a shipper to my po box. This is where I want the package delivered unless a card is sent to my po box and I designate to pick it up or have it forwarded to an address different. UPS does not encourage a system to find packages outside of the tracking number. If the tracking number is lost or the shipper goes out of business too bad (unless a court issues a subpeona). If there is a fire in the home, loss to car and or any other reason UPS doesn't care what happened to the package in question. This gives an open door to loss, theft and non recovery of the package. Customer service is rude. I still have packages missing I am trying to get a tracking number on. I get no help from UPS.

Horrible delivery service
UPS is the worst delivery service out there. I had a guaranteed delivery date for a package which was to be delivered to my work place located in a mall and residential building. I looked at the tracking information and it said they had already tried to deliver but there was no apartment number they didn't even question that there are businesses in the building. I called a half hour after they attempted delivery and they refused to redeliver that day!! The driver was probably still in the street. It was only 12:30 and they deliver until 7pm. I work at a gallery that specifically will not use UPS for this reason. We have had the same issue with several clients and UPS is never helpful or do they go out their way to resolve a customer service issue. We will pay more for other delivery services that will actually get the packages delivery on time no exceptions. Hopefully they put UPS out of business. WE never recommend their services to anyone and I would advise the same to everyone else.

I had ordered a Yamaha keyboard for my son and chose 2-day shipping so that he could continue his classes without a break. On the estimated delivery date, I got a message from Amazon saying the delivery was attempted but could not be done since there was nobody at home. Well, me, my wife and my daughter were home from morning till evening and no one rang our bell!
I can understand if they were unable to make the delivery but why lie about it? It was a Friday and then I had to wait until Monday to get it. So I refused delivery and bought one from Costco.
The UPS office was kind of happy to hear about my refusal. May be because it means a return charge for them!

Ding dong ditching, damaged packages, poor tracking
UPS absolutely sucks, they ring your doorbell and make a run for the truck. If they do deliver your package they just leave it out in front of your door to be stolen, or if you live in an apartment complex they leave it at the main building and don't notify you as to where they delivered it to.
I once got a guitar delivered by them, when I got it the guitar was just inside a box with absolutely no packing material and the guitar was severely damaged. The second guitar I got from the same company via FedEx came with proper packaging and in the original box.
UPS once left a package outside my house while I was home and failed to even ring the doorbell or knock, it was like a phantom delivery. The package happened to be a hard drive, and living in Nebraska the temperature changes pretty rapidly. Needless to say the hard drive failed to work when I went to install it.
Don't even get me started on the tracking, needless to say it's nonexistent. About all it can tell you is, UPS has your package and you better hope to god you get it one piece.
Word for the wise, stay away from UPS. Their name should be changed to Unbelievably Poor Service.

haven't rec'd pkg but driver claims he tried to deliver twice
I receive my avon orders every two weeks. I was scheduled to receive the order yesterday but there was an "exception" supposedly the driver came by but no one was here. There was a notice left either. I'm here all the time especially the days that I'm expecting my shipment to be here. I call to complaint and was told that I would be receiving a call from the driver's supervisor within the hour. I didn't get one. AGAIN, the same thing happened today!!! I called again and said the same thing accept for this time I did receive a return phone call only to tell me that I could go all the way to Mesquite and pick up the pkgs between 8-8:30pm only! What ticked me off was that the so called supervisor acted like this has NEVER happened before. I told him this was the 3rd time something like this has occured on separate occasions. He said that normally he would have the driver go back and deliver the pkgs but that he was already done for the day and he wasn't in that area anymore. OK, I called at 4:34pm the driver's message was posted at 4:05pm. Sounds to me that the idiotic driver was in a hurry to go home for the day. I wish Avon would use FED EX instead! But I'll never use UPS for anything again!!!

Non delivery
Emirates high street.com sent via Arvato distribution GM goods purchased with airmiles and cash to Anne Ibbs, Golf Cottage, Montagu Road, Formby, L37 1LB. The items did not arrive. Subsequently a card was received via mail on the 13th February, correctly addressed, advising that they [UPS] had been unable to deliver on the 4th of February because 'directions needed'. A contact number was given to enable delivery instructions or directions to be supplied by the 11th. In the absence of this information the items would be returned to the shipper. Which we were advised was the case.
The address is not necessarily easy to find but it is our belief that the driver just didn't bother as the full address was obviously in the possession of UPS hence the delivery of the correctly addressed postcard.

Do not pay claims apparently
Had a loss last November. Somewhere along the UPS line their gorillas destroyed a shipped item that was packed according to their specifications and it was insured. As it was a one of a kind item, had to immediately refund Buyer his money and freight charge. First, UPS tried to say it was not packed according to their regulations and denied the claim. Upon having to review pictures of the packing, destroyed box (elephant sat on it?), and the item, they agreed it was packed correctly. That was Dec 31, 2008. Sent them by their fax number documented claim form on January 8, 2009. Called several times to person handling it, said was being process and check would go out "very soon". Called again 2/13/09, and person no longer works for them. Show claim was approved, but show no file nor claim form received, therefore can do nothing. Told me to resubmit claim for and they would follow through. When, after they are bankrupt, which I understand is where they are heading. Local employees say they have lost business to other companies and are not busy at all. Because of their attitude, we have switched to Fed-X and LOVE IT - much cheaper (20%+) and much better personalized service at the receiving station. I'm having other merchants tell me they almost never get paid by UPS on claims, give up, and change to Fed-X. Most of our incoming is now coming Fed-X rather than UPS. Another ICON about to bite the dust.
