Dear Tide,
Your commercial for Tide Stain Release featuring a young girl in a short, white mini skirt has caused me decide that I will not longer be purchasing Tide products. First, the advertisement objectifies young ladies, as it glamorizes a young teen girl wearing a skirt that is entirely too short, as a way to get attention. Second, it disrespects her father's input and further undermines the relationship between her parents. The father is made to look like a fool when he attempts prevent his daughter from wearing an inappropriate mini skirt that he obviously does not approve of. Then, mother then sends a mixed message by contradicting/disrespecting the girl's father, encouraging her to wear the skirt by helping her get the stains out and finally approving as she walks out the door wearing the skirt. Finally, the most offensive feature is that throughout the entire commercial, a young man is singing a song about looking at girls in shorts skirts as they walk by. This is not funny or cute. If my teenage daughter owned a skirt that short, you better believe my husband would do more than wipe grease on it. I would not allow my children to view your commercial. I believe that your advertising department could come up with a more creative and tasteful way to advertise your products.
