I had a horrible experience with these guys. I'm convinced that good reviews of this "store" were written by TheCameraPros themselves. I'm sorry I didn't check BBB first - they have an extremely bad rating!
After I ordered a new video camera from their website, I received an email from them saying I had to call to verify my order. When I called, they told me the new camera didn't come with a battery or power cable. (?!!!) I thought the guy was confused, but then he confused me by pressing me into buying a battery and charger. When I received the product, it was in a beat up, opened box, with open software. A stock battery was attached, and an AC power adapter loosely thrown in the box. The camera already had videos on it. (They were filmed by an IT department of a production company in the Durham, NC area... Was your HD video camera stolen in April 2008?) I sent the camera back to these guys. They had the gall to try charge me a restocking fee! I promptly disputed the charge with my bank. I wanted a new camera, which they billed me for. I got an old, used one instead. The amount I was billed was nearly twice what was on the internet order receipt.
In the past few days, affiliates of TheCameraPros have attempted unauthorized charges to my card in several cities, amounting to thousands of dollars. My bank was quick to notify me, and I am contacting the police and FBI regarding the crimes this company is committing.
I wonder if they are buying products with stolen credit card numbers, then selling them to consumers through their websites?
My lesson - check a variety of independent online reviews first!!! Anyone can post anything to the web and make it look legitimate.
