I had dial-up internet service through this company for 2 years. No contracts or agreements were ever signed when we started our service because company policy was that there were no contracts-agreements between the company and their customers.
Great company I thought….WRONG!!!
I had chosen their payment method of “pay for 6 months and get 1 month free”. When we decided to change to high speed internet (through another company) I had contacted them to see about getting a refund of our money since we had just paid for our 6 months. They informed us that we would not be getting any kind of refund due to their “no refund policy”. They also informed me that when I sent in my payment, that payment constituted a “signed agreement”. (Which is incorrect…I contacted a corporate debt collection agency and they verified that any kind of payment does not constitute a “signed agreement”). When I spoke to their management their excuses ranged from “we are a local company trying to do business” “we can’t lose out on our money” to “its your fault that you paid up front…you should have changed your billing to a month-to month billing if you knew you were going to change services”. I told them that those were unacceptable reasons for not being refunded. I told them that they are choosing to pocket our money and that they are being dishonest to their customer. At one point they had agreed to refund us a small portion of our bill, but once they found out that we had turned them into the Better Business Bureau, they “retracted their offer” to give us a partial refund. They then offered to “keep our account active” until the prepayment ran out. I don’t know why they offered that kind of a solution if we weren’t going to be using their services. They even went as far as to say “that we as the customer must bear some of the responsibility” trying to lay the burden of blame on us for this mess.
Any other company would have gladly refunded us our money to ensure good service to their customers; obviously not with this company. The only thing that they care about is how to pocket their customers’ money.
