SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS!!!
It seems that most people that complain about Target complain about the return policy. If you read your receipt, you would know that you NEED a receipt to return anything over $20. So knowing this, wouldn't you save your receipts? I know that when I buy anything from anywhere, that I need to save the receipt just in case I need to return or exchange any item purchased for whatever reason. It is not Target or its employees fault that you were not responsible for your receipts. So please don't take it out on the employees.

Worst work experience/raciest.
I worked for target for about 10 months and they made my life a living hell while i worked there.
I was hired September 2007 and finally quit the company may of 2008.This target had a majority of African American workers maybe 3 white people and 1 or 2 Mexicans. When they first hired me I wanted a cashiers position but they didn't have anything available. Needing a job i took a position in the backroom. The pay was $7.75 an hour and it was full time. I'm 4'9" tall and I was having doubts that I could do the job properly. The team leader who is in charge of the backroom workers was a complete idiot and didn't really show me and another employee how to do the job right. The guy barely did his job right.
I tried my hardest to get what jobs done i could and the ones i couldn't were left for others to do. I saw many, many workers leaving target for whatever their reasons were and at the time it never dawned on me that they hated the working environment. The job didn't seem to hard except when the calves dropped which was at 11, 2 a clock and so on.(calves are batches of product we pull from the back and get ready for the instock team to push out to the floor)... Calves are done on a timed basis and are usually heavy loads. I was usually working alone in the backroom because they didn't have a lot of workers in the back. I struggled for over a month trying to do this job i was constantly brought into my managers office because i was either crying from too much stress or i wasn't doing my job right.
Finally they took me out of the backroom and placed me into ad prep. You know those stupid signs that say this product is on sale or price cut, yeah i was putting those up. There were three people on this team we had to do a take down put up every single Saturday and only 2 of us were required to do this. there was one lady on my team who was just irritating as hell and couldn't seem to mind her own business. This is around the time i started to feel a lot of pain in my shoulder. so i did this job until after christmas and after having tuns of problems with this lady they moved me to cashier.
I loved being a cashier, it was something i was good at and it showed. One day after work I was in excruciating pain in my left shoulder and had to go to the urgent care. As you know urgent care sucks heavily and takes forever so i didn't end up getting out of there until late that night. They tried to write it off as a muscle spasm and it was suppose to go away after a couple weeks. a couple weeks later i was still in a lot of pain and i went back to the same urgent care. This time the person i had seemed a lot more interested in my pain and said i might have a rotercuff tear. After seeing a specialist about this i had to return to AZ because my parents insurance I was under wasn't going to cover anymore out of state medical procedures. to make a longer story short I was forced to quit target they didn't honor my 2 week notice and wrote me off as not eligible for rehire. They also would not honor my request for workman's comp.
Anyways here it is months after I left target and I am still in a lot of pain.. doctors cant figure out whats wrong and they keep telling me its just tendinitis. now i have lower back pain from this too...
anyways target sucks they do not honor anything they are suppose to and there just a horrible horrible company.

Lowered credit line
I have been a good customer to Target for over 10 years.
THEY upgraded my card to a TargetVisa about a year ago.
I have never been late (30 days+) and I have spent thousands there.
Without any warning, they lowered my credit, so that I was maxed out. Right here at the holidays.
If I pay on time and the required amount, why and how can they do this?

Bad quality product
I attempted to return defective software to the store and was told I could only exchange the software for an exact duplicate, which they didn't have. The only way to exchange it was to drive to another Target store. The software was defective when purchased. I had my original receipt.
There is no 'exchange for same item' policy posted in their software department. Even if this policy was posted it is not legal according to the Uniform Commercial Code (federal regulation).
I will never again purchase software, CDs, DVDs, or electronic goods at any Target stores. In fact, I will not make any purchases at Target if I can buy the merchandise at Wal Mart.

Faulty Merchandise
Last Halloween I purchased two fog machines. It was too late in the year for us to redo the Halloween Decorations so we just put them away until this year. We opened them, set them up, only to find out that neither of them worked. My neighbor had the same problem with the two he purchased. I called the store manager Joann and she refused to take them back or exchange them (they are selling the same machine this year) and gave me the number for customer service. Needless to say THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS ARE IN INDIA AND BARELY SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and just received a phone call from their coroporate office. A "Jeffery" informed me that they will only return them within 90 with a receipt. Be careful when purchasing merchandise from them. If you do not have a receipt or if you do not have the original packaging, and if the item doesn't break within 90 days, THEY DO NOT BACK THEIR MERCHANDISE.

unacceptable standards
I remember when it was OK shopping at Target...prices were little higher than Walmart but the stores smaller, conveinently located and faster in and out...That has all changed and not for the better...
lines are always terribly long -- cashiers attitudes for the most part robotic and in a 'daze'...
stock are generally quite low on most items...if you go there for something on ad...forgetabout it...they won't have stock...if you go there for basic core items...forgetabout it ...they won't have stock...
Truly the attitude of staff and mgmt there seems to resonate a ' just be grateful you can shop here' ... so i give up on them...last straw was recent pressure to fill out a survey during checkout...result was that I get home and see all my purchases didn't make it in my bags...called store...you'd think I was asking for a price adjustment...bring in my receipt I'm told...no apology - no consideration that I have to take my time, my gas, etc to remedy their errors... its truism --- ya get what ya pay for...i don't get enough at Target to pay for it... I'm elsewhere !

Second time burned
After being duped into buying the "hands free" can opener sold to us by a as seen on tv store and dealing with it never working correctly we decided to buy the "One Touch" I had purchased one for my Mother and she loves it so my Partner and I decided we wanted one too..we found one in Target..I should have known something was up we could not find any instructions and felt maybe they were left out..so we put some batteries in and it sounded funny..thinking maybe the batteries were old we replaced them and it seemed to work better..3 months later it started sounding like it did when we first bought it..then it hit me we bought a "One Touch" someone else had returned as defective and instead of tossing it they simply replaced it in the package and resold it..this is the reason there was no instructions! Now here is is one week past the date when we can get a exchange or refund and we are stuck with a second can opener sold to us despite the knowledge it is defective..we will never buy anything like this from Target again and we may never do business with them ever!!

Discriminating policies
On 09/18/08 my boyfriend went to Target in Northride, CA. to buy some cold medicine for my daughter while I stayed at home taking care of her. He called me back a couple of minutes later telling me that the cashier would not sell him a $5.00 bottle of cold medicine for children without a proper California ID card. He showed her another type of ID card which clearly shows his age. She didn't accept it and he ended up coming home without it, so I had to make another trip to the store and buy it.
(Ironically)When I went and bought it the cashier that charged me, didn't even ask me for my ID nor did she ask for my birthdate. I had no problems buying it at all and I actually bought two medicine bottles. One multi symptom cold med. & one for fever and body ache (both for children)
I later that night called to speak to the manager in charge to give her my complaint & let her know how upset I was to think that there's people out there without a valid CA I.D. card that might have their children sick and can't even go buy them medicine simply because of their status.
I just cannot understand why they are not allowed to buy over the counter children's medine or any over the counter medicine without a CA ID? It just doesn't make sense to me.
I also felt my boyfriend was discriminated against by the cashier.

TV broke in 4 months
I'm a very upset costumer. I bought my first Trutech 19" thin LCD TV (MODEL#: PLV16190) November 2006 and it broke within 4 months. Since I didn't take my receipt to the store they exchanged it. However, I didn't use the TV and left it in the box at my mom’s while I was deployed. I recently returned in March 2006 and the TV stopped working last week and they will not replace or repair the TV. I told them the TV is still new and I just took it out the box a few months ago. Furthermore, this is the second TV in less than 2 years. I have never bought a TV that last only 4 - 6 months. I totally agree with all of the customers above “these TV's are JUNK" and Target is promoting JUNK.
Dissatisfied Customer,
Tonya Carr.

They do not help anyone but themselves
I can say as a "former" Target consumer that the fan fair of what Target does for people, employees, and the community is a facade. Our son (employed) by Target, employee of the month type of individual, trying to get scheduled hours to work around his full time school load at UNM. They have his class schedule but instead of work around, they increase and overlap it with his classes and tell him it's his problem. Where do we learn important work ethics? Not from Target Management let me say that. Smoke and mirrors, what a waste of time.
