MORTGAGE
My husband passed away in July 2010 and since our mortgage was in both names, I have requested 3 times that I get the mortgage changed over into my name only. I was told a sales representative would be calling me back to do the necessary application. Here it is now into November & I have not heard anything from them. I lost $1, 700 a month income when my husband passed away and am having to do everything on my own small income which bearly makes the mortgage payments. I don't want to loose my home, but I guess Sovereign Bank wants me to. Isn't there something that can be done about this?

account protection election
hi i just enrolled in sovereign bank account protector and it dose not work at all as a result of these new regulations regarding overdrafts, the bank generally will not pay your one time debit card purchases and ATM transactions if they would overdraw your account creating inconvenient situations for you i have tryed it so mutch times even if i am 20 bucks short it will not pay it for you so why did the bank offered this account protection and it dose not work but the bank is saying if you enroll in sovereign account protector, they will be authorized to pay ATM transactions and one time debit card puchases even if they overdraw your account and charge overdraft fees they say there is no guarantee that ALL overdrafts witch mean more than one will be payed, but not even your one time debit card or ATM transation they will pay so why are they offering account protector and it dose not work

Thieves
I'm a Sovereign costumer for 2 years. I had everything well in my account for 2 years. Until one day I had a fee problem. They charge me $35 dollars for each payment I did i that day. So, the total was $280. I didn't knew that I had insufficient money, and only in that day the rob me almost $300 and the payments I did were $100.
I tried to fix with my branch manager and nothing. Call the costumer service, that is horrible. She just looked to my account and said that everything was legal and they couldn't help me.
Then I talked to the costumer service manager who told me nothing could be done. And I told her, I was going to close my account and all my family because It wasn't anymore a money issue, it was about a "robot" bank that forgot that they have people behind that accounts. My money market had money and I had a clean record. So, if that don't mean nothing I don't want a bank like that.
Don't open a account. They are thiefs and people that only see money. They don't care about their costumer.

Power of Attorney refusal
When presented with a Power of Attorney at the Ortley Beach, NJ office to handle my elderly parent's affairs, I was refused service. This Power of Attorney is on file in the Woodbridge, NJ office. After speaking with my attorney, Colleen Barlowski, the bank employee with a desk behind glass doors, refused to give me the name and address of Sovereign Bank's legal counsel. She didn't know, even though she speaks with them all of the time. She gave me the name of Kori Kaldor, whom she seeks legal advice from, but doesn't know if Kori is an attorney or not.

Deceptive overdraft policy
I incurred multiple overdraft notices due to this bank's deceptive practices. I withdrew my funds and will never bank with them again.

Overdraft charges
I have been with SB for many years and have never had a problem with them. However, in these difficult times they charged me for insufficient funds in my checking when I had more than enough to cover it in my Savings. I was flabbergasted. I went in to try and rectify the situation and they let me know that I am allowed one per year. The fact that The check I wrote to my sister (who is also a SB member, thanks to me)exceeded what was in my checking account they would not take it from my savings and also they would not make a courtesy call to you. So they tried to take that money from my account a second time and charged me again for the insuffincient funds, instead of taking it out of my savings account. They were quick to let me know that it was now two overdrafts in one year and I am only allowed one per year. You would think that when I became a customer they would have suggested that? But why should they, its an easy way to make money. I would never understand why they did not take it from my savings or consider that I have been with them for soooooo many years and have never had an overdraft. I have great animosity towards them now. I will go back and withdraw my funds. They are some sneaky bastards. They dont care how hard you work for your money, in seconds they would milk you without any notification. These banks did not deserve to be bailed out at all, they dont care that my record speaks for itself. Although this money does not seem like much to them it is a lot to me especially when you have a family to feed and have to put up with so much to get a paycheck. They have Customer Service Reps well traied to say "the system will not allow me" "bullshit." I am just disappointed. I used the service of Rockland Savings bank in Rockland, MA in the past and I know from experience that it is a good bank with caring people from top to bottom, and I am talking from experience - I should have listened to folks that warned me about SB, but I tried them for the convenience to my job. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. THEY DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU!!! I will go back to Rockland Savings.

Identity fraud
I have had a continuing issue with Sovereign Bank over the past few years but this last one takes the cake! I was the victim of identity fraud on my checking account with Sovereign Bank to the sum of $620. I contacted the bank, went to my local branch, filled out all the nessassary paperwork and froze my account until the situation was cleared up. A week later they sent me more forms to fill out and gave me only 2 days to complete and mail back to them or they were not going to cover the fraud charges. They didn't even include a return envelope! This was 3 weeks ago and since then I've opened an account with another back so I could pay my bills. I checked on the status of this account and they had let two payments go through that should have been stopped with the account being frozen. I have managed to become $75 futher in debt to them based on this. My wife has an account there as well (don't ask why) so I transfered funds into my account to avoid more overdraft fees until I could get to my local branch and clear this up again. This was on Friday. Today is Tuesday and they have kept the account transfer in pending status for 3 more days making me $15 more in debt to them. I went to the local branch near my work to clear this up and they told me I would have to go the branch where I opened the account to clear this up. I don't live anywhere near the branch I opened the account up anymore! I then RE-FROZE the account to avoid more fees but I highly doubt that will make a difference. What is the point of satellite branches is I can not clear up issue at one or the other? Tomorrow is a holiday so I need to wait two more days until I can attempt this AGAIN! I thought Wells Fargo was bad but these guys are clearly the worst.

Hard Sell Tactics
I tried to cash out a CD I had with Sovereign. They asked me what I was doing with the money (none of their business), but I told them I was buying a car. They tried to convince me I was better off putting the money into a savings account there and taking out a home equity loan so I could deduct the interest from my taxes. Thing was, I was buying the car outright and didn't need a loan. Any tax savings I would have seen would have been much less then the interest I had to pay them! They just kept saying over and over "But you'll reduce your taxes. Here, just sign up." They treated me like a moron and wouldn't take no for an answer.
