I have gotten several calls from this company which is a Division of Robert Farence that were recorded on my answering machine. On the messages they do divulge that they are a collections agency but they do not state who they are trying to contact. In all fairness to the number of calls, I do admit that I delayed in calling them back as I have good credit and I am not delinquent on anything that I know of. I finally called them back just to be sure that my identity hadn't been stolen or anything and that is when I discovered that they were not calling me at all - they were attempting to contact a person that I bought a house from 3 years ago! What disturbed me the most about receiving these calls is that I do not live in that property and the phone number where they contacted me is under my personal name at my personal residence in a totally different state! When I tried to explain to their agent how I was connected to their intended recipient, they tried to blow me off by insisting it was just a wrong number and they hung up on me!
Naturally I called back immediately and went through the same process of trying to explain my circumstances to another collector with this firm. They, too, continued to insist that it was just a wrong number. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they connected me to a person named "Robert". He also insisted that it was just a wrong number and tried to tell me that their firm had done nothing wrong when I warned him that I was going to report his company for violating my privacy. Even though I had told him repeatedly that there was no way that this was just a wrong number as the only way they could have gotten my phone number was through my name being associated with the address of the property I purchased from their "mark", he began to get indignant and accused me of trying to tell him how to do his job! He was using that as a ploy to divert attention from what his firm had done. At that point, I asked him to let me speak to his superior and he refused saying that there was not anyone above him except the president of the company and then he hung up on me.
My whole intention in calling this firm the second time was not just to have my phone number removed from their data bank - which they say they have done - it was also to try to find out how this happened so that I could prevent it from happening again. I even explained this to "Supervisor Robert" who refused to understand or even help me! He told me that there was no way that I could prevent this from happening again and that I was just going to have to deal with each occurrence on a case by case basis. Well, that is a totally unacceptable answer to someone who has had their privacy violated in this fashion!
Well, I know that my personal privacy has been violated and I know that it will be pretty obvious to everyone who hears the circumstances surrounding this company's calls to my home. Someone associated with their firm has done enough research to locate my personal phone number under my personal name, which is completely different than the one they are searching for, at a totally different address in an entirely different state from the previous address which used to belong to the other person whom they were trying to get in touch with. Also, I have never even personally met this other person because as I stated previously, the only connection that I have with them is through the property which I purchased three years ago.
