I'm a slow learner, and Performance has gotten me repeatedly over the years. Back in the 1980's when orders were by phone, their rep would assure me an item was in stock and get my credit card info. When the item didn't arrive, I would have to call them to find out that it was back ordered and they'd have it in 90 days. They'd also tell me they couldn't cancel the active order, I'd just have to ship the item back them three months after I actually needed it.
Now they're doing it on their website. A product will list as "in stock, " but after you've ordered they advise that, oops, we goofed and we don't actually have it yet. Their "customer service" people (offshore and domestic) appear to be trained to not be able to find your order to cancel it, and there's no way to escalate to a supervisor, you're just transferred to dead air.
They have used this shady business model to build a mutli-million dollar company. I don't recommend helping them build it further. Lots of people sell bike parts. I may be slow, but I've finally learned my lesson.
