False advertizing
On Saturday Jan 17, 2009 I tried to book a hotel room in Las Vegas for 1/19/2009 for three nights. The Orbitz website advertized the "special" at "but one night, get one night free - 2 days minimum" The lowest "guarenteed" price $16.95". When I tried to check out, the rate read "$24.94 for Monday and Tuesday, Wed free". This is not in line with the advertising of $16.95 per night and third night free. What they did was charge me the entire $24.95 per night and third night free. This is fraudulent advertizing at best.

Scam
I purchased an International ticket from Orbitz.com and was charged with $75.00 insurance Policy.

I guess one of the small checkboxes "Need Insurance" was enabled by default. This is to charge the customer with an additional policy. Also this policy does not appear in the Travel Summary. So it is unnoticed.

This is a new scam and everyone should double check their ticket after purchase.

This policy is from Access America (supposedly partner of Orbitz) and Access America does not easily cancel that Policy.

Bad service
I booked a roundtrip flight thru Orbitz.com because they guarantee if the same flight is found at a lesser rate, you would receive a refund. NOT TRUE! My friend booked the exact same flight, yet was only charged $244, whereas I was charged $265 plus $6.99 fee for making my reservation online at Orbitz.com. When I spoke to customer service person, they said the price guarantee only applies if a similar flight is booked thru Orbitz.com. How is it that Orbitz.com gets away with advertising that they offer the best prices, which they also supposedly guarantee? What a joke! Why would anyone in their right mind pay to book a flight thru Orbitz.com when they could easily book a flight at the airline's website for free AND get a cheaper fare?!? I will not use Orbitz.com ever again and advise others to seriously think about using them. If you want the best fare, DO NOT USE Orbitz.com.

simple information on unused ticket
I bought 3 domestic e-tickets from Orbitz.com. The tickets were not used. When I tried to call Orbitz about what my options were I was put on hold twice for a total of over 45 minutes. I finally talked to someone who spoke very poor English and refused to talk to me unless my zip code matched the zip code on my account, which for some reason it did not. He absolutely refused to offer any assistance and when I asked for a supervisor he put me on permanent hold. I WILL NEVER USE ORBITZ.COM AGAIN!!

No tickets, no customer service
I purchased airfare on orbitz.com in April 2008 for travel the first week of June. When I got to the end of the online transaction I was told that my only option was paper tickets that had to be mailed to me. The least expensive way to receive the tickets was first class mail for $23.95. I chose that option--curious as to why it should cost that much for a first class stamp. In any case, when my tickets hadn't arrived two weeks later I called Orbitz. After being put on hold for about 20 minutes I was told to wait an additional 10 days for my tickets to arrive. After 8 days--10 days would have been a Sunday--I called Orbitz again. This time I was on the phone for an hour. After speaking to an agent and then that agent's supervisor I was told that since it was US mail there was no tracking and so my only option was to contact US Airways in person and file a lost claim. I was told by the Orbitz supervisor that the $100 would be refunded to me when the original tickets were found or after completion of travel. The Orbitz supervisor even referred to the $100 as a "deposit". I went to my local airport the next day, paid the $100, got travel vouchers for my flight and a receipt for the $100 claim. I called US Airways to find out how I went about having my $100 refunded--at which point I was informed that the $100 claim fee was nonrefundable and that it should have been the responsibility of Orbitz to get my tickets to me. Essentially the tickets weren't lost they were just never received. Now I've paid the fee and have little recourse. I feel that I was swindled by Orbitz.

Charge account 5 times, no NSF refund!
Well now lets see... This complaint is a little old because I did not know about this site at that time but I see that some satisfaction comes to those who write a complaint, so here goes. I ordered a flight from Houston to Sitka for a friend of mine and Orbitz charged my checking Mastercard 5 times for the transaction. This transaction put a 2300. overdraft in my checking account. After they investigated they found that indeed it was a computer glitch on their part. I called several times and had to talk to a different person everytime because they cold not put me thru to the same person... Any way after 6 days I was refunded for the price of the 4 extra tickets. This was all fine and good however, with a 2300.00 overdraft in my account for 6 days many other checks were returned. My bank sent them and faxed them information to show the overdraft fees and they amounted to 300.00. I had to finally give this one to the Almighty because I did not want to suffer a stroke. Since then I receive many offers from them and return them telling them I will use their services if they refund my money... The last time I heard anything was last year. If you have to call them get ready to explain over and over and then wait while they research it...

Watch out for scam!
I went to book hotel rooms for a vacation. I marked that I wanted two rooms for two nights and clicked to get rates. Looking at the rates I went ahead and booked. Then when I got the itinerary I saw that I had 1 room for all 5 people! I went back to the original screen and it was clearly marked for 2 rooms for 5 people. Since it was incorrect I cancelled and found I had a $25 cancellation fee. I called and they said they would refund the fee since I cancelled minutes after I booked but that I would have to wait for the refund. I asked to speak to someone about booking the room. After being on hold for quite a while - the CSR tried to help by walking me through the process but the same thing happened. He then gave me a large rate and hung up the phone on me - he had already gotten my phone number, but didn't bother calling back.

This web site is tricky - and the CSR's are rude! I have booked rooms and flights through other travel sites with no problem. I will never use Orbitz again and caution others from using them!
