A little history, I received a great quote from OnlyUsMoving via the internet. Offered to move my household goods and car for what seemed to be a very fair fee of about 1600 dollars. That was better than most of the others and they offered to handle both the car and goods which was an important factor for me.

I arranged for the pickup of my goods and car. When the truck arrived, the name of the company was written on the side in magic marker! I was not in a position to delay any longer so I went ahead and allowed them to take my goods. If I had time I would have sent them packing instantly.

They had mentioned on the phone that they would give me two quotes, one by weight and another by volume and give me the cheaper of the two. Sounds too good to be true, it was. He never gave me quotes by weight at all. The original estimate of 900 (for the goods) shot instantly to over 3000 and then finally over 4000. To date I have never received a detailed bill to show exactly what I was paying so much for. Just estimates and numbers over the phone.

The other issue with never weighing it, I had no recourse for insurance at 60 cents a pound because I had NO IDEA ever what each box weighed, or even the gross amount of the total. I was totally at their mercy at this point. I regret not having more time at my disposal at that moment to do it right, but I trusted ‘Philip’.

They never did ship my car and I had to re-arrange that move myself with another company. He had quoted 700 but could never find a delivery company to move at that low rate, so the car sat for a month while I waited. Once I discovered he had not even picked up the car from the original location, I decided to pay a reputable company to move it.

For final payment, I had to transfer the same amount of $1450 three times via bank transfer to him to release my goods. This was due to him giving me a name of Philip, when in fact his name is Fuad, and the original bank transfer was rejected. I resubmitted that one with the corrected name, and then also sent the money (under duress) from another bank. I have proof from both banks that he finally received the same monies twice, for the single payment. To this date he has not paid back the overpayment of $1450 even after stating they would mail a check.

Bank 1 first transfer – rejected due to name change

Bank 1 second transfer – successful but slow so he demanded payment again with a promise to repay the overpayment.

Bank 2 only transfer – successful same day.

The driver was not informed in time and he actually demanded the 1450 AGAIN upon arrival. You can imagine my stress to have to consider paying $1450 3 times the same day. The driver was very helpful and we worked that out.

Repeated phone calls have gone unanswered. I have just emailed them with a letter indicating what my intentions are if no monies are returned by 5/3/07. I will send the letter registered and also would like to fax them if you have a fax number.

I only want to inform you that this company is NOT reputable, not reliable, and non-communicative. Customer service is a joke once the goods are loaded. He had even sold MY furniture pads to the driver that eventually delivered my goods, and we had to deal with that over the phone. If I had not had my receipts for the pads handy, I would have lost them.


Update #1) Only Us Moving has now changed their name to Any City Movers, but the owners are still the same people with the same bad business practices.

Update #2) Any City Movers requested in writing to me that I write a letter stating I had lied in my previous statement "before you even see one F#ing penny". This company extorts clients in multiple fashions. Avoid them at all costs.
