My recent statement from AT&T included a third party billing for the amount of $14.95 on behalf of Phoneticom LLC. A Google search found the website advertising their "Emergency Message System" service provided for a monthy charge. Fortunately, the website included phone number and address. I will be contacting them on Monday to complain of the unauthorized charge.

My current AT&T bill (1/25/2010) includes a charge of $13.95 charge for "OAN Services, Inc." I did not authorize nor sign up for this. Please have the charge cancelled and credited to my next bill (unfortunately, I just paid my current bill and did not check the bill more carefully).

Two months ago (July) we received a charge on our monthly AT&T bill for OAN Services, Inc - ALLVOICEMAIL.COM. The charge was made to our home phone account with my daughter's name attached as the service requestor. I called the AT&T customer support number listed on the bill and was informed that third party companies could submit charges to our account without our approval and that it was up to us to call the third party company to dispute charges (thanks for taking care of your customer AT&T). I did call the third party company explaining that I had not requested the service nor did I want it or nor was I going to pay for it. They advised me that they could only issue a credit if we agreed to a 90 day trial of their service. I advised them again that we did not want nor were we going to pay for their service and that I would be calling AT&T to complain. I called AT&T back and was put in touch with a customer support contact. She then dialed the OAN Services with me on the line and explained the situation as I had explained it to her. We were then told that OAN Services would issue a credit and cancel the service. Neither of these promises were kept. Last month (August) we received another bill from AT&T for the first and second months charges for the service. I then sent an e-mail to AT&T stating what had happened and that it was now up to them to correct this situation as I had done what was requested of me and nothing had changed. We just received our September bill on which we received a credit for the first two months of the OAN Services billing but I'll bet you can't guess what else it contained. A charge for the next month's service with OAN Services. I don't understand what there is that OAN Services and/or AT&T don't understand about "Were not paying for the service" but you can be sure we will be finding a different telephone service provider. Oh, by the way AT&T WAS also our cellular provider and our home internet provider. You would think that in the current economic situation, that AT&T would take better care of their customers but it is evident that they don't care.

NOTE: The only place that we can recall where we have recorded our daughter's name together with our home phone number is on her recent applications for admission to college and federal financial aid. My daughter has her own cell phone number that she uses for everything else. I wonder how OAN Services was able to collect that information? If I'm not mistaken, that's against the law.

On my moms phone bill this month, charge from OAN Services, Inc. of $14.95. I called my phone company, she said call the company ( she she thought it was to due with 411 calls) She gave me credit on the bill. I called OAN Services, Inc. first person, Jennifer, put me on hold and the I got disconnected. I called back and the gentleman told me it was to do with 411. He asked me if I had heard of a couple of names and I said no. My mom lives in a nursing home, she doesn't even make any calls, the family calls in to her. He said he could tell there had been a mistake and that she would have two more billing periods of this amount on her phone bill, but; after that, she would get credit back on her phone bill. And, he told me he would put a block on her phone number, so no one else would call her from their company to sell something. There should be a way to stop this company OAN Services, Inc.
