Network Solutions Reviews

Steals your domains
We had a couple of domain names registered with Network Solutions that was up for renewal. While we were in the renewal process we were suddenly informed by Network Solutions that the domain names had been reserved by someone else on the date it expired. This date was after we had requested a renewal. Network Solutions tells us that the only thing we can do is to contact the company that reserved the domains, New Media Investments inc, and try to get it from them. They were kind enough to provide us with the contact details. If it was not bad enough that Network Solutions let the domains go to someone else after we had requested renewal, here it the real twist to this sad story. Guess who owns New Media Investments inc - none else than Network Solutions! This should not be legal!

Terrible Company
This company is the worst company i have ever dealt with. When they transitioned from Monster Commerce to Network Solutions it all changed. They changed platforms for the site hosting and it was a total nightmare. I had to endure this twice and paid for it twice only to find out they do not have the same or better functionality they had when it was v4 and Monster Commerce. They do not have partial search functionality with the new v7 version and they have told me for 2 years now that they were going to offer it. They have strung me along only to speak with Jeff Visgaitis on 4/14/2011 and be told they may never have that functionality. So they have changed to a new platform without the ability to search for an item with partial part #'s, which is key to most businesses. This is just the tip of iceburg of the problems i have had with them. I have had email service down for a week at a time. Site certificate with no csr generated even tho i had renewed it. But the most frustrating is the site latency problems. My site does not load properly most of the time. I have been trying to get this issue addressed and fixed ever since they changed me back to V4. It takes sometimes up to a minute to load. I have had many outside sources report about this issue. I have had to pay for and implement a monitoring service. Sometimes my site won't even ping. I have reported this over and over only to be told that it was not happening on their end. In other words, screw you we are not fixing the server or site issues and you may be better off with another hosting company. I asked for this to be put in writing and Jeff said he would not do that. I asked why was he afraid to put it in writing and no answer. I have nothing else to do but seek legal council. Jeff indicated i could do so as if they weren't afraid to take on a small company. I guess when you get so big you can treat anyone you want the way you want. If anyone else wants to join me with a campaign and legal council against this company please contact me. 816-899-2347.

Support
I have a website hosted through Network Solutions. They advertise that they have 24 x 7 support. Today I tried to get into my store to update product information, only to reach a message that said I do not have access to my own products. This is new since mid-week. I contacted support only to be told that the name of the primary contact on my storefront is now a person who is an employee of Network Solutions, and I need to have this person change my access level - to my own storefront! And, to make matters worse, this person will not be available until Monday! So, for an entire weekend I am locked out of product updates! This is completely unacceptable.

Holding DNS Hostage
Network Solutions does not seem to learn from their mistakes.

They are STILL the most unethical and outright illegal dns company I have ever seen.

FIRST, they refused to provide access code to transfer dns. Kept stalling, demanding more unnecessary documents, just to stall until the domain was within 60 days so I had to wait.

Then, after renewing against my will with NS, AND waiting the 60 days, THEY CHANGED THE EXPIRY DATE! So even though they basically extorted another renewal fee from me, they still have NOT updated the record - AFTER TWO FULL MONTHS OF RECEIPT OF RENEWAL PAYMENT, making it impossible to transfer an expired domain.

This is illegal.

If anyone wants to engage in a class action against them, I am seeking US$1MM damages.

Unauthorized credit card charges
Network Solutions made an unauthorized charge to my credit card for private registration of two internet domains, for which the Auto Renew was set to "Off". I notified them immediately of the unauthorized charge and they promised to reverse it, but later sent an e-mail indicating that "it is our policy not to issue refunds for domain name registration(s)", despite the fact that I had not authorized renewal of the domain registrations. I checked with a number of associates, and apparently this is a common practice for Network Solutions: they figure most people won't take the time to dispute the unauthorized charges given the amount. It would be worth an investigation to see how much of their revenue is generated through unauthorized domain renewals.

Network Solutions Sucks
We have spent soo many years dealing with the bad NS. Thier outragous hold times, there incompitant staff, Thier ridiculous 4 month owernership transfer (notery rebublic required)and not too mention thier Toll support number. Nothing like spening an hour on hold and paying for it. I recently moved a portion of my domains to GoDaddy. I have to tell you thier support is night and day from NS. Thier online tools that let you completly control your domain in any means you wish(Change Ownership took 1 day). The first problem that I recieved from NS was an email telling me I had to call them to get the transfer completed. I sat on hold for only 10 minutes ( I guess they figure this out and are scared to death of loosing everyone) only to find a high preasured sales person trying to get me to stay. He had nothing technical to offer so I did not need to call him at all. Then I received antoher email that tells me I do not need to respond to let the transfer take place. But, If I do want to cancel the transfer to click on the link. Needless to say, I did not want to cancel the transfer so I did not click on the link. I found out later that if you do not click on the link, you cannot approve the transfer. They completey screwed up my changes to the domaain. It finally went through after several days but caused major problems during these 3 days. I complained about the letter and they assured me it would be changed and worded differently. That was almost a year ago. Still seiding the same letter out today 11/9/05. I called them to complain. I read the letter to the rep and asked him what it meant. He replied exactly the way I originally thought. Then when I told him that you could approve it unless you clicked the link, he stated that I mis understood. It was then my fault. Run as fast as you can!!!

"Spam" from Network Solutions
I subscribed to Watch Dog Services for a year from Network Solutions. I chose not to renew. about four weeks prior to the expiration date I started to received DAILY reminder notices of the expiration. After expiration I received daily "please renew" messages for about 3 weeks. I then received a FINAL renewal email. AFter the final notice I received more "please renew" emails... not sure how long this is going to continue.

I complained about this and NS says that they can't do anything about this because that's how the reminder script is programmed.

I am viewing these reminders a spam. I will be moving my domain elsewhere soon.

Worst service ever
After ordering web forwarding for my Web domains I discovered that competitors offer it for free. Called to cancel but 'their policy is not to refund' this particular service. For the high prices I pay for their services this is unacceptable.

Bad service
All, you are not going to believe this. I am launching a new web site and I can't login to my Network Solutions account. I called network Solutions and I am told by Lee (a supervisor) that the account has a lock and the Executive Team will be calling me Sometime Next Week. I am beside myself in disbelief, I have 15 developers and 10 testers here and no ability to add a public DNS entry to MY account.

I am so mad I can't see straight, this is going to cost me thousands and could ruin a relationship with a very good client.

I asked for Lee for "any" resolution; Lee was quite polite and clearly didn't give a rip about my situation. I asked for Lee's boss, Lee told me it was Michelle, and then would not give me her number.
