Great service
I have had many home warranties and have been with National Home Protection for many years and have nothing complain about. I see all these bad reviews saying there a scam company when in reality all it sounds like is that customers are trying to scam them with pre-existing issues. Consumers have to realize that they are buying a home warranty and there is a contract involved and they need to READ THEIR CONTRACT! National Home Protection is the best company and i will be with them for years to come! thank NHP!

Bad service
GOOD NEWS!! Today I was notified that I had a message from someone on my3cents.com (regarding National Home Protection). I went to the Website for my3cents.com and there was a message for me from Detective Lieutenant Steve Peters of the Ocean Township Police Department in New Jersey. Lt. Peters provided me with his contact information as follows:
"Please contact me at the Ocean Twp. Police Dept in New Jersey (732) 531-1800 Ext. 231 or E-mail speters AT oceantwp.org. Thanks."
I telephoned Lt. Peters immediately and he asked me questions about my experience with NHP and he made note of my Email address. Lt. Peters said that his Department has been investigating United Home Warranty, which was owned by David Seruya, who now owns NHP. The Ocean Township Police Department is also trying to work with the NY State Office of the Attorney General regarding a pattern of deception with Seruya's companies.
If you have not heard from Lt. Peters, I urge you to please contact Lt. Peters and inform him of your experiences with NHP.
Thank you so much.

Only if i know how bad they are
this is a email i sent to NHP and have now found they closed my claim!
Hello,
Let me start by saying that I though having a home warranty was a good idea and maybe it is but just not with your company. I have had noting but hassle dealing with NHP since I had to call for my first problem. I will start from the beginning I was researching companies and came across NHP I called to get info and a price quote with 20% off and a $50 HD gift card. I told the guy I would have to talk it over and get back to him well he put me on hold to see what he could do for me to buy it that day and he came back and told that along with the 20% and gift card he would also throw in 2 free calls, well that did it for me I signed up in July. Fast forward to my first call it was for my shower, the first number assigned to be was for a company that the phone number did not even work anymore so I had to call back, well I get a hold of someone who comes out and makes a adjustment and it is fixed or so I though (the shower still changes its not fixed). I paid the guy even though I thought it was considered a free call. The next day I called NHP to find out about the free call only to find out that I did not have 2 free calls and the guy who sold me the warranty lied to me. I got a hold of a manger that apologized to me and gave me a free call. Now to my new issue I had a HAVC person come to my home and do a tune up on my furnace and he found a small gas leak in the gas valve so I called NHP on Friday the 24th to see if that was covered under my warranty and it was, I let the girl know that I had a free call and she noted that and told me to let the guy know that it was a free call. I called square one the company assigned to me and they sent someone out Monday night. The guy came and confirmed the leak and told me he had to get the part and would be back Tuesday and in the mean time TURNED OFF MY FURNACE to be safe (I live in CO it gets cold at night). He also said he know nothing of the free call and wanted a check from me, I gave him a check and asked that he not cash it as this was suppose to be a free call and that I needed to find out why he was not told. That then led to me finding out that NHP wanted service records on the furnace and that the repair was not going to be done until they had records. I just bought this house the only records I have is from my inspection and the guy who just came out and found the issue. I had NO idea that claims could be denied and records are needed for certain things, to me that is crazy, people buy homes and get warranties because they want to be covered in case something goes wrong because of the previous owner, it just seems that it is a loophole for NHP not to fix things. It is now Monday nothing has been fixed and Square One cashed my check that I should not have had to give them in the first place! And I have yet to receive my $50 gift card from home depot. I have to wait on the phone sometimes for nearly 20mins every time I had to find out what was going, i had even been hung up on. I do not think I will stay with NHP when my year is up and I do not have anything nice to say about NHP it has been nothing but headaches for me and it is very time consuming for me to deal with. I can not believe my claim is being denied because I waited till Oct to have my furnace looked at, if you would have seen my home when I moved in you would understand that not paying to have my furnace looked at right away in JULY since it was not in use would make, there were far more important things I needed to spend my money on having fixed than that. I want my Furnace fixed and I want my $45 back!
As of nov 14 nothing has been done and my claim was closed. after reading all the complaints i am now sure i will never have it fixed and wish i would have know not to use this company! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Denied Claim/Breach of Contract
On 10-20-2008, pursuant to being called reference claim # 545529 under contract # 679741019 for Cheryl Rector, your company contacted Tucker Cut Rate Plumbing to handle a plumbing Complaint.
On 10-21-2008 Otis, from Tuckers Cut Rate Plumbing, responded to our residence to trouble shoot the leaking pipe. Upon completion of Otise’s work, he stated he repeatedly tried to contact your company. On 10-22-2008 we also attempted to contact your company via Phn. # 1-800-608-6045. We did not get through until 10-24-2008, at which time we were told the office was closed.
On 10-27-2008 I called at approximately 0953 hours and was told by "Jonathan" that our claim had been denied pursuant to contract item F-6 "from Jonathan, "corrosion was the reason for denial", and that National Home Protection had called our house and advised us of this.
We had not received any calls regarding this matter, and I informed Jonathan of this. In reading F-6, it does not cover old plumbing pipes, or cover corrosion. Jonathan advised me of the Dispute process.
After reading over the contract, I called NHP again on 10-28-2008, after reading 100's of online complaints and noting similar denials and complaints to the New York Attorney Generals Office. At 1010 AM, I spoke with NHP representative Kevin Delmore, when I explained to Mr. Delmore that F-6 of the contract did not cover Old Plumbing Pipes, or corrosion, all of a sudden I was told No the denial of claim was not for F-6 but for F-15, which covers mold mildew fungus or rot, "again not Old Plumbing pipes failing from corrosion".
Because I was dissatisfied with my treatment, and of the claim I started this dispute communicae, and contacted the Florida Attorney Generals Office, Insurance Fraud section, because even though NHP claims they are not an Insurance, that is what they are classified in Florida as, and I filed a complaint under # 1-55152407. I was also advised at this time NHP is not licensed to conduct business in this state. Upon completion of that phone complaint I contacted the New York Attorney Generals Office and advised them of the on going complaint in which I felt NHP had breached the contract. I was directed to the online complaint form and given a direct fax # to send my information, as they said they have numerous complaints against NHP.
I then attempted 1 more time to resolve this matter telephonically and contacted NHP representative Kevin Delafield, at 1134 hours and requested to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold and then Connected to a individual who identified himself as George Stevens, Director of operations.
In speaking with Mr. Stevens he reiterated that the Denial was from F15, which initially the denial was F-6, Which again neither item covers old/or corroded from age plumbing pipes. And while trying to debate the denial with Mr.Stevens, was rudely disconnected.
I would hope that due to our being customers of NHP for several years prior to this writing, at the Platinum property and now the Florida property, that you will honor the contract for warranty and pay for the repair of the pipe, IE plumber only.
If NHP fails to honor the contract and continues to deny Claim # 545529, I will have no other recourse than to follow through with complaints to FLORIDA, New York, and Nevada Attorney generals Offices. As well as the Online complaints against NHP and to seek legal Council to Sue for breach of contract, and any other monetary inconveniences I may suffer while awaiting a response. In which I will have named as Plaintiffs, National Home Protection, and Employee’s Scott Howard, Kevin Delmore, Kevin Delafield, And George Stevens.
Thank You
Glenn and Cheryl Rector

Terrible company
I read the website of National Home Protection before signing up but failed to do a Better Business Bureau check. Their website is full of lies and deception. They promised Home Depot gift cards for signing up for a 5 year plan. I did that and then they gave all these excuses as to why I didn't receive the gift cards. But as a consolation they offered to send me less than half the value originally promised on Home Depot gift cards. As you can guess I've never received those either. To top it off, I had to call them for a service since they are a Home Warranty program. They did not fix the problem, apparently nothing is covered. Not sure what they Home Warranty covers. Once my 5 years is up, on with another company. Don't fall victim to their lies and deceptive advertisement. They make promises they have no intentions to fulfill.

warranty
I have a claim number #542519 and my claim was denied 10/13 for a water heater. Due to rust. The plumber stated you misunderstood his comment the water heater went out due to normal usage. The water heater is on a pedestal off the floor. I have done maintenance, I have a water softner at this house and it has been upgraded when I moved to this house. I had a inspection. The water heater wasn't brand new when I moved in 2003. So through normal usage it aged. I am DISPUTING THIS ClAIM! I moved to the plus plan so I can get items replaced. As you advertised. Everytime I have a problem I get the run around.

Failure to repair & poor service
It took me 4 contractors and 10 phone calls only to be denied the repair of my air conditioner. They never returned phone calls, they hung up on me, and they denied my claim. The one contractor that finally came, was a scam artist too. I paid him to clean the ac and he did not. I was too afraid of him to stand up for myself. The contract by NHP clearly staes that "which become inoperatable due to normall wear and tear". and under airconditioners:, "All components and parts". They said to contact " [email protected]"...that site does not exist. I have spent hours and hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket. This company ripped me off.

Breach of Contract
I purchased a 5 year policy. The sales persons said if we were every unhappy with the service we received from the company we would be able to get a full refund. So we purchased the warranty.
3 months go by and we have an issue with a clogged drain. We call them up they were very nice and said they would dispatch someone to come and fix the issue.
1 week goes by no one has called. I called the number they gave me and the number was disconected. SO I call them back and they assigned another company. I called them right away and was told that they do not do drain cleaning. So I called NHP back again and they said that I would have to find a plumber and submit the claim.
I said heck no that is what I paid for you to do so.
Well I needed the sink done so I called a plumber to look at it, had them write up an estimate. I called NHP back again with the plumbers info and told them to get everything setup as I was not going to pay out more then the 45 for the service call.
Well another couple days go by and no one from NHP has called the plumber. I called back again and they were super nasty to me over the phone.
My wife and I were fed up so we said to give us our money back and they said no. So we decided to file a dispute with my CC company, well since it was outside of 90 days they said they could dispute the charge but was not able to guaranty anything.
NHP disputed the charge back and won. I am pissed if it were a couple of hundred dollars i would just push it off as an expensive lesson but we are talking about 1200+ so I am a bit pissed.
I would like to take them to court but they have an arbitration clause built into the contract so I don't know how to proceed.
If anyone could be of any help on how you got your money back that would be great.
Thanks,
John
