Claim deined
I had hail damage in the 10/5/10 hail storm that hit Phoenix Metro Area, MetLife sent "Mike TORI" - who said it was from prior hailstorm. Just like Crusty who submitted his complaint in March. TORI is acting in bad faith. I have weather data to back me up. If you had problems with this guy contact me.

Failed at paying disability
Metlife is the worse company I have ever dealt with. I have disability insurance with them though work. I got acutely ill in Oct 2010. I was hosipitalized in Novemeber 2010 for 5 days. I was hosipitalized in December 6 2010 for another 5 days and on December 17th I had a colomstomy. In mid Feburary (another surgery) my surgeon reversed the colostomy. At that point I applied for my long term with Metlife. I filled out a packet and faxed it in. Keep in mind I had used up my short term which was with a different company. So it was already established I was ill and could not work. I lost 2 1/2 feet of intenstines and then some. I then received a second packet. They wanted my last 15 years of employement. They wanted 2 years of pharmacy records, a form claim for my regular medical doctor stating this was not a pre-existing condition was faxed to him by Metlife. I got through all of that with problems from them, of course paperwork was not to their satification. My regular medical doctor had no knowledge this was going on with me and he did not know what to write on the paper. I had to do all this running around to get these forms filled out ASAP. I could not wait and mail then wait for the doctor to mail back. The pharmacy doesn't keep 2 years at the locations you have to call the corporate location (CVS). They wanted to know who I live with and how long. They wanted to know all the doctors I had seen in 2 years. They want to know my height, weight. They asked about my sleeping habits! Ridulous. Anyway I went back to work still no check. I went to my employer and HR called on it. Finally I got word they had issued the money. Almost 3500.00! Well I came home on Friday checked my account and found the money was not there. I called Metlife and found out they deposited it to the wrong account. Adding a 0 to the beginning of the routing number and droping a number at the end. I called twice and could not talk to a real person. Someone else received this money and Metlife never called back. I would never choose Metlife. As soon as I am completely well I am dropping them!

would not send money held until completion
In december our dishwasher leaked and ruined our floor. the ins company sent in a company to dry out everything which was fine. we got an estimate for floor repair and because it was a composite floor and the estimate was for tile it had to be for like product so we had the company that came out to dry things out to give an estimate which they sent us a check on less $500.00 deductible less $98.00 held until work was finished. I noticed that the dimentions were wrong on the estimate got a new estimate from the same contractor. The claim adjuster knocked off the painter from the estimate and sent us an additional amount. her words were you can have anyone do it and choose whatever flooring you want and we will sent you the $98.00 when completed. Our son-in-law gave us a discount and did the job for us. He came in under what they had and now they won't sent the completion money as promised as they feel it's their money because we got a discount. I am a senior citizen and am sick of dealing with them. we cut corners to save money and who gets it, the coniving insurance company.

automatic withdrawl
Metlife has insured our cars for the last decade plus. Recently the cost of their auto insurance has become significantly more expensive than competitors so we switched. I work for a large university in southeast Massachusetts where Metlife has offered a discount if we set up automatic deductions from our paychecks.
Metlife will not stop the deductions from my paycheck even though we have faxed them more than 8 times a copy of the change of insurance. The new company, Commerce has also faxed MetLife the change of insurance forms. We started calling Metlife every evening to check if the insurance has been cancelled and every evening we get a new person who tells us that nothing has changed and to fax the form to yet another number. We ask for a supervisor and they say there isn't one available. As of this writing we are $400 in the hole. I have called my HR department but they cannot stop the deductions. I'm getting mighty frustrated.

Non performance for what I paid for
I had hail damage to my roof on Oct 5, 2011. I had a contractor who verified the damage. A MetLife adjuster, Mike Tori, said the damage was from a previous hailstorm (we have so many of them in Phoenix)and rejected my claim. I asked for another adjuster, request denied of course. So because of adjuster Mike Tori, my coverage by MetLife will be ended as soon as possible. What can I say except MetLife ***! Good riddance Mike. I will have another insurance company taking care of my insurance needs in a couple of days. Thanks for letting me know what kind of a company MetLife is only one year into a 30 year mortgage!

Stay clear of this company
I was rear ended at a stop light by an insured of MetLife. He was going very fast and hit me when I was at a dead stop. I was taken to the emergency room, I had about $5, 000 in medical costs. Luckily I was not seriously injured, I was stiff for about a month. I told MetLife that all I wanted to be reimbursed for were my actual monetary losses. I could have sued them for $10, 000 to $15, 000 dollars, but didn't feel right doing that considering my injuries were minor. Well, all I can say is I should have gotten an Attorney. Due to their at fault driver I am about $2, 500 dollars in the hole. Besides that, I can't believe how rudely I was treated. I was only trying to recoup the money I was actually out. You would think they would appreciate that I wasn't trying to "take them for a ride". The person I dealt with was the most sarcastic person I have ever dealt with in any Customer Service anywhere. She actually made fun of my car, which was a 5 year old SUV. I cannot believe how unprofessionally I was treated. I think MetLife needs to realize everyone is a potential customer. I will never do business with MetLife - ever. Believe me they would have been better off paying me what I was out, because I am and will continue to tell everyone I know about how rudely I was treated, and I know a lot of people. WARNING: IF YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ONE OF THEIR INSURED, GET AN ATTORNEY IMMEDIATELY!!!

Poor customer service
I am so annoyed with MetLife I received a refund check dated 11/24/10 and I contacted the company 4 + times and I still haven’t received a replacement. The first and second time I called the customer service rep claim that I didn’t exist, so I requested to be transferred stateside. Once I was able to reach a rep stateside, I told her my story, and she claimed that there must be a mix up because MetLife is financially secure, so it must have been an error. Then why is it that their bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank refused to release (cash) my check?

cancellation of policy
MetLife canceled the fire insurance coverage on my deceased father's house in Columbus, Ohio with no advance notice of any kind. My father was the named insured on the subject policy. His house was the property covered by the policy. His automobile insurance was provided by the same company under the same policy. In December 2009, the policy was renewed from February 3, 2010 to February 3, 2011. My father died on December 20, 2010. The house has been vacant ever since. Because of the change in status of the house, I wrote a letter to MetLife on January 15, 2011. In that letter, I requested that the automobile insurance policy be canceled, effective immediately. It continued: "Homeowners Policy - The house is now owned by my father's estate and is listed for sale with a realtor. The insurance coverages related to the house should remain in effect without interruption. The rating and premium probably need to be recalculated, since the house is not occupied and the discount related to the automobile insurance is no longer applicable. * * * If there is any problem complying with these instructions, please contact me." In response to my letter, I received an automobile insurance declarations page dated January 26, 2011 from MetLife indicating that the auto policy had been canceled pursuant to my request, effective January 15, 2011. It identifies the named insured as "Estate of (my father's name)." This demonstrates unequivocally that the company had received my January 15th letter. I also received a notice of policy change dated January 12, 2011 from MetLife which indicated changes had been made to the mailing address and the address of the home on the homeowner's policy. I received this notice because I had directed that my father's mail be forwarded to me. I called MetLife's policy service telephone number on Friday morning, February 4, 2011 at approximately 9:45 a.m. Eastern time. The unfortunate woman who drew the short straw of fielding my call told me that the homeowner's policy had been canceled the previous day - February 3, 2011. In response to my direct question, she said that there was no coverage on my father's house as of the moment of our conversation. I received no notice in any form - written, telephonic, e-mail - of the impending cancellation of the homeowner's policy. My January 15th letter provided MetLife with all of my contact information. They knew how to use my mailing address for notices directed to my father's estate, as evidenced by the notice of cancellation of the auto policy. Even if a notice of cancellation had been mailed to my father's prior address, it would have been forwarded to me. The policy was canceled without advance notice. From the information available on the Ohio Department of Insurance website, I understand that this is a violation of applicable Ohio law or regulation.

Disabilty Benefits
Does anyone know of a lawyer or law firm that is experienced in suing insurance companies, particularly Metlife, for fraud in handling established disability claims? Please contact me.

Playing games not to pay STD
I have out of work due to my physician's directions and have now applied for SSDI due to the severity of my health conditions. MetLife has paid erratically and once again during the period of STD my case is on hold, "Stating they need more information". My Doctor is even frustrated and the nurse at his office has spoken with the "case worker" and still nothing from them. I paid into this insurance and am at my wits end at this point. I am looking for a lawyer or someone who can help, the bills don't stop and I've used most of my savings to pay, co-pays, medications, and for testing.
