Mervyns Dept Store Reviews

Fraudulent billing
The details are so numerous that it is impossible to include them all. However, I was charged for an item that I did not purchase on April, 2007 (it was a purchase being made by a lady next to me that was accidentally added to my charge). I immediately caught the charge during purchase and it was supposedly rectified by the clerk at Mervyns at that time-it wasn't, and showed up on my statement! I called immediately and was sent a statement to sign. I signed and returned the statement. I was then billed again for the item! I received a letter saying that I was responsible for the charge as I had my credit card on me at the time (obviously). I called again. I was told to write a letter stating, 'what happened and get it signed by the store manager and send it to G E Money Bank.' I complied. I was still billed for the fraudulent item. I went to Mervyn's and the store manager assisted and called G E Money Bank (as she did not have a code number to remove the charge-which now had late charges and finance charges added to it). A "manager" "George" told us that he would send another letter for me to write "this was not purchased by me" on and he asked for a copy of my CDL to compare signatueres on the charge (the copy that was sent to me was obviously not my signature-it wasn't even my name). George said that he would write a letter to TRW to explain the error and that I would receive a copy. I sent what George asked for. I did not receive a letter - in fact, no letter was sent to TRW. I received another letter saying that I was responsible for the original fraudulent charge since I had my card on me at the time. I went to the manager of Mervyns in San Luis Obispo -again- and she called and after several calls it was agreed by yet another "manager" of G E Money Bank that the charges were not my fault and that all charges would be removed within 7-10 days. So, when I received my statement in December, 2007, the late and finance charges were removed and half of the original charge was credited! I am still being charged for half of the original fraudulent charge and I have a finance charge on my account for the current charge. I called G E Money Bank and spoke to a "manager" "Arnold" who said that I 'needed to sign a letter' (the same one that I have already signed three times!). I have two calls in to the manager at Mervyn's and am waiting for a call back to get her assistance. I have copies of all letters that I wrote during all of this... I have not made another purchase at Mervyns since April, 2007.
