Bought about $380.00 worth of framing lumber, loaded all of our lumber and realized they were out of stock on one 14 ft microlam. After wandering around the lumberyard desert in vain pursuit of a yard person, I eventually stumbled across an assistant manager. I asked if we could have a 20 ft board cut down so we could fill our order and get back to our jobsite. Assistant manager guy was not able to answer our question and was unable to raise the manager on his radio so I had to follow him back across the lumberyard desert in search of the one person capable of making this monumental decision. We finally found the manager and after waiting for a few minutes for him to get of his phone he determined that he couldn't allow a 20 ft board to be cut but that he could allow a 17 ft board to be cut. Back across the desert with powerless assistant manager to discover that in fact there are no 17 ft boards in the racks. Assistant manager guy has bright idea of using his cell phone to reach the manager in lieu of another trek across the desert to check with manager guy to see if under the current circumstances it would be ok to cut down a 20 ft board for us so we could return to work. Manager says no. Between my employee and I we have now wasted close to an hour on this enormous endeavor to save Menards about $10 on a board. We have four employees who regularly purchase materials from Menards for our business and in our personal lives. I determined that we will not be doing any further business with this company, dumped our load in the yard and canceled our credit cards. Goodbye Menards - hello Lowe's and Home Depot!
