On November 20, 2007 a friend and I went to dinner at Maggie McFlys Southbury location. We picked Maggie's because they have some amazing appetizers on their menu. Thats about all thats amazing there. With my dinner I order a virgin strawberry daquirery because I am only 18. When we received the bill the drink cosed $7.50, it should have been only $5; I informed the waitress that the bill was wrong and she took it away. When she returned she informed me that the drink was not virgin, like I ordered and she would have to charge me for the alcohol because I drank it. After that i informed her that i was underage and would like to speak to a manager, she took the bill and returned later with an updated bill costing the price of the drink I should have received, followed by a story that she was new and did not know that there were different keys for virgin and non virgin drinks. I never spoke to a manager.
I am what people call "straight edge" meaning I do not drink, therefore I did not pick out the alcohol in my drink right away. The waitress was very rude about the new bill and just left it on the table and walked away. I do not care that she was new, she served a minor, that is illegal. On top of not being very concerned for the fact that she served a minor her unapologetic attitude towards me was very disrespectful.
As my friend and I got up to leave I dropped my cell phone and sarcastically said to my friend "ow look now, I am just throwing things around." Another waitress stacking chairs within earshot looked and me and proceeded to ask which one of us was driving. I thought this comment was uncalled for as well as very rude being that her co-worker had just done something illegal.
I will not be returning to Maggie McFly's anytime soon, I understand the waitress made a mistake but she committed a crime and was not very willing try and satisfy the customer but simply apologizing and fixing the bill like I had asked for the first time. Also, I asked for the manager who never appeared. Maggie McFlys needs to properly train their employees to use the equipment in the restaurant as well as train to use friendly attitudes when they make a mistake.
