Awful experience
My husband and I went to Lowe's and purchased a Whirlpool upright freezer on 2/14/09. We were asked to buy the 4 year extended warranty and it sounded like a good deal so we agreed. They said it would be delivered in the morning which they never came until afternoon. I went grocery shopping on the next day as I was going in for surgery the 20th. I bought a lot of things to freeze so I would have it on hand.
2/17/09 I noticed that some things in the freezer were thawed so I set the freezer to the coldest temp. By morning everything was thawed and warm. I called Lowe's and they said they would send out a technician the next business day 2/19/09 to replace the freezer because it wasn't even a week old and it was defective. When I had asked about the refund for the spoiled food they say they do not have to pay for the food loss which was a little under $300.00 because they replaced the freezer and that nulled the extended warranty. I am entitled to a refund!!! And after reading about others not receiving their free delivery charge refund I am guessing I will never see mine either! I will never buy from that store again and spread the word to others so they don't get ripped off as I did.

RIPP-OFF
COMPLAINT
Lowe’s Home Improvement, Orchard Park store on Transit Road.
I was at the register to check out a small item. The charge came to $4.00 and I handed the check out young man a $20.00 (no doubt it was a $20 because it was all that I had with me) he gave me change for a $10.00. I informed him that I gave him a $20 dollar bill and he stated that "I don't think so!" He was rude to start with, as he was talking to an associate while doing a cash transition. The manager told me that he checked the till and it was only off $.39. I told him that what this means to me is that the till was $10.00 short before my transaction. While I was speaking with him he just decided to walk away from me while I was still speaking. This really infuriated me. I told him that I was still speaking to him and to please not to walk away while I was still talking. He stated that he was going to get my $6 dollars change and the receipt. I said fine, right after I am done talking to you. He became very, very rude! Not only did they short change me $10 dollars but I was very insulted by the treatment I received. There is no customer service there. I have spent a few thousand dollars in this store in the past two years and to be treated like this is not the way to keep customers. Besides the fact that they stole $10 dollars from me too!

Terrible experience
I ordered three interior doors to be installed in my home. I payed $1, 240 up front on May 23. I now have two doors, (it's October 22) but they have had to send back the third door twice because it came to them damaged and twice the installers they sent damaged the door... badly. In the mean time, I have had family come to visit and had to hang a sheet in the door. Everyone apologizes, but it is the most incredibly incompetent work that I have ever seen done (and I'm NOT the fussy sort)... Will NEVER go into a Lowe's store again.

Scam and theft
Our family has been shopping at Lowes for years. For years we have tried to "build something together." Once again we have had a horrible experience, this time with a store manager (female) that "honey" ed us to death. We spent over $50, 000. for products to build a store, most of the time the products were wrong and the delivery wasn't done as promised. Then we foolishly decided to do some home improvements. The manager "gave us good deals?" Only to find out the price she quoted us over the phone and then after install the price jumped up over $4oo.oo, and to make matters worse she never put us on the no interest plan as promised. After spending $6ooo.oo in the store. We went in to find out why our bill was so high and why we weren't on the no interest plan. The explanation was she typed it in wrong.
But they wouldn't put us on it. Not sure why "honey" suddenly didn't like us anymore? Maybe because she made so many mistakes. Amazing isn't it, the store manager screws up and we the customer gets penalized. For the record we never went in and signed for the merchandise or for the install of the carpet. She, "honey" did it all.

Useless furniture warranty
Bought 3 patio love seats from Lowes, still under warranty when button on back cushion fell off.
Called distributor - none left, no help. Manufacturer is overseas, no help. Called Lowe's Customer Assistance, no help.
Called store Manager where we bought them, no help: None in stock, can't replace. WILL reimburse cost of whole seat if returned, but then we can't replace with matching one (bad solution). Won't reimburse for repair, even though Lowe's warranty states "We will, at our sole discretion, REPAIR IT (caps mine), replace it, or refund your money based on your method of payment."
We're stuck with defective furniture. Nice.
We're no longer Lowe's customers.

Employee smelled of drugs
I recently went into the Lowe's Home Improvement Store in Southport North Carolina where I live. I went to look at the birdhouses in the seasonal dept. I asked an employee there for help and saw on his nametag his name was Patrick. He seemed a little dazed as I was asking him questions and I smelled the distinct smell of marijuana on him.
Lowe's needs to better drug test their employees. As a result, this store will no longer have my business. I was very disgusted at this episode.

Employment ethics
One day I had applied to Lowe's via their online application process. Two weeks later I was contacted by a woman informing me that they were hiring temporary cashiers for the summer at their Newington, Connecticut location. It was at this time that I had set up an interview with a person at the store. It is from this point on where everything goes horribly wrong.
First off, I live 10 miles from this particular store, and this comes into play later. On a Thursday morning, I arrive for my appointment at Lowe's. I go in and up to the front desk and announce my arrival for my appointment.
From this point I am told to go to the back of the store to a room used for interviews and training and such. It is here that I meet with a woman only to have her tell me that my interviewer was out due to her kid being sick and not able to go to school. I gave the woman my resume and she proceeded to sit me at a computer for 10 minutes or so. It was at this computer where I had to take some sort of an analysis test (IE: "what would you do in such and such a situation" and have to pick from 4 answers).
After finishing this test I told the woman I had completed the test and she said that the woman who was originally scheduled to interview me would call me soon to reschedule the interview. I didn't think anything of it and left.
Anyway, it turns out the woman never called me back and a week later sent me a typical generic rejection letter. I had wasted my time and liquid gold (Gas) driving to and from there only to be lied to right to my face. I don't have money to waste on this type of crap.
This wasn't the first time Lowe's screwed me over. I had interviewed TWICE at the Meriden, Connecticut store (before it's grand opening) only to again be lied to straight to my face with this "we'll call you in a few days" nonsense.
If this is how Lowe's treats it's applicants, I'd hate to see how their employees are treated. I feel that this isn't a company with good ethics.
Be aware if you interview with this place. It could be the biggest waste of your time ever.

Bad salesman
We went into the Hillsborough NJ Lowes to buy a John Deere tractor.
Their salesman was the worst that we ever encountered.
He couldn't, or wouldn't, answer our questions. I asked him the same question 3 times. Instead of answering my question, he rambled on about their warranty (when I was asking what a repair service charge would be w/o a warranty.) These tractors cost $2, 000 and forget about getting your questions answered.
Another customer asked our salesman whether he could buy a new tractor instead of one off the floor. Unfortunately, our salesman couldn't answer that question either.
We all left without purchasing anything.

No attendant available
There is a bad customer service in this local and only store in Laredo.
We waited for 30 mnts and nobody even showed up to attend us the store close and everybody was so annoying and just ignored us. I believe all are busy but then at the end they didn’t even have the god dam window that I was looking for at least they could say sorry or something, but no nothing that *** *** special if the stupid *** or manager was there. I work with people and I don’t act like that so is somebody is going to pay attention. I would really appreciated some nice people to attend us.

Lowe's credit card offers
I applied for a Lowe's Consumer Credit Card and was approved. My husband and I were interested in purchasing a new smooth surface cooktop and wanted to take advantage of the 12 month no interest financing. After I purchased the cooktop on my consumer credit card I received the first statement and they had charged interest to my card. My husband and I were very irritated with this. We had the money to purchase the cooktop out right but wanted to have the card for future improvements to our recently purchased home.
I paid the balance in full within the first month and canceled the card. The credit card rep asked why we would cancel the card so quickly, and after I informed her that I was charged interest incorrectly she made no effort to rectify the situation. I now have a Home Depot card and have used it for MANY home repairs with NO INTEREST.
