Kohl's Reviews

did not receive my rewards and rudeness from a manager
I purchased some clothes at Kohl's when they were having their sales this week(11-15 last date of sale). the sale was to take an extra 30%, 20%, or 15% off everything, plus spend $50 and receive $10 kohl's cash. So my subtotal was 51.98 they gave me the 15% off but I forgot to ask for my $10 kohl's cash. So the next day I called and they absolutely refused to give me the $10 Kohl's cash. They said I will not get both and they are NOT going to reward me for this. The manager was very rude. Finally I said, nevermind I will just return my stuff and Kohl's lost a custumer. The manager replied, that was just fine by her! Appearently they do not care about their customers.

Bill payment
I recently switched from paper billing to Email. Not really thinking about it, I put in my Email address. Well, I don't pay the bills, my husband takes care fo that each month. So, he didn't realize there was a bill, I don't get any personal Emails so I didn't check it...THREE months later, I get a computerized call re: my account.
I had no idea what it could be about, so I called. I had a late balance due. So, I paid it. In full. Including late fees, and I apologized for being late.
Fast forward a few weeks, we're looking into refinancing our home and come to find out, my good credit score is now a bad credit score. All because of the Kohl's issue!
I called the credit card phone number, explained my situation, was talked down to, but I took it in stride and was told I would be contacted BY PHONE within 48hrs. Two days later, after not recieving a phone call, I called back and was told a letter has been sent out saying it was not Kohl's fault and they will not correct my credit score.
I tried explaining that I knew it wasn't their fault, that I took full responsibility, but that I would like to talk to someone.
I was denied the opportunity to talk to someone in that department or a supervisor.
I cancelled my card before ending my call and I will NEVER step foot in a Kohl's store again.

Credit card rip off
Consumers Beware! Look at your Kohl's Bill and make sure you are not paying for there account ease program. I was, and never agreed too. My prove is the program is for those who loose there job, I did in January but still payed the bill on time, all the way until I ws re-employed in April. My situation was what the program was set up for, so why did I not take advantage of what I had been paying for for years. The answer is simple, I DID NOT KNOW I WAS PAYING FOR IT!!! When I finaly realized and contacted Kohl's, I was denied because it had been over the 180 days alowed. I complained to the BBB and Kohl's respones was that I agreed to the program back in May of 09 when I signed up. The problem with that is I have been a card holder since 05', again they have no idea what they are doing.

unauthorized charges
An unknown perpetrator has accessed my personal account information and has been making charges, whether in the stores, or thru access of a credit card is unknown. This charges are being made in my name, and this is my statement that I, Mary A Charrier, do not have a Kohl's charge, have not applied for a Kohl's charge, and will NOT be responsible to paying any such charges accumulated in my name, address, or social security number. A fraud alert has been placed with the three major credit reporting bureaus. Date of this posting, 8-13-09.

"Store Security"
I have been shopping at this store for years and have spent lots of money there and in return I was accused of being part of a "theift ring." Listen how crazy this whole ordeal was...
I had purchased a pair of shoes for my niece for back to school. The shoes were too snug so I brought the shoes back to exchange them for the right size. Due to the fact the shoe department was in horrible condition (nothing hardly in stock, shoes not placed on the shelves to match the display on top, etc, etc) I asked the woman working there if she had a bigger size and showed her the box & the shoes (keep in mind I had my receipt with me too) she grabbed a box and handed it to me so I went & exchanged them. Silly me was in a hurry so I assumed the woman had checked them before handing me the box. Well, I get home and the shoes were mix-matched-one of them wasnt even the correct style or brand. I sent my husband to return/exchange the shoes again (because I did not receive my drivers license back from the store clerk during the first exchange but at the time did not know where my license was & you need it to return/exchange items) Well my husband gets to the store attempts to fix the problem & is pulled in the back office by store security aka "rent-a-retail-store-cop" and told he is clearly trying to pull a scam because the receipt doesnt match the shoes in the box...um, yeah that was problem!! Then he is told he must be part of a "theif ring" & pulls the store security tape & points to an image of me from earlier that day and asked if I was "in on it too" then my husband is charged with shoplifting!!! THESE PEOPLE ARE NUTS!!! There might be some weird type of "theift ring" but fortunately my husband and I are NOT apart of it & I believe the security guy at this store is a couple crayons short of box if you know what I mean. Guess thats why he is working as a cop at a retail store- musta not had what it took to work in a real law enforcement. If there is a so-called theift ring (I think this guy watches too much CNN or something) then I see how they manage to operate, while innocent folks are trying to exchange shoes & are grilled for attempting a scam, the real shoplifters must be having a field day!!!

Bad business practice
Wow, what a story. I am a Kohl's employee and I see all these posts about the store. Let me just stand up for all the employee's working at our store! We are overworked, unappreciated and it's a shame that upper management let's these airheads (that get hired from other companies and just cause they have college degrees, OH BIG WOW) runs a large store without any or little experience run a store improperly. Our store Manager sits in the office all day long on his phone and does nothing all day. Never has pushed a rack, never helped with freight, never picked up clothes from the floor, never accepts responsibility for things going wrong, never says thank you, never gives credit where credit is due, all he does is sit in the office and talk on the phone and eats the food that people bring back to him during THEIR LUNCH HOUR! He has had several HR complaints about him and you would think by now Corporate HR would get a clue and send people out to interview everyone at the store! BUT NO WE ALL GET PUSHED UNDER THE RUG! The store is overstaffed and yet there are still no employees on the floor to help with customer service issues! Overstaffed being that there are "alot" of people getting 4 hour work weeks, employees complain about not getting hours but still they hire more people! People at the fitting rooms doing go backs are overwhelmed, messy customers who feel that we are getting paid to pick up after them, (which we are NOT), cashiers dealing with rude customers, going into a fitting room and picking up clothes that have urine on them, or sanitary napkins rolled up, (utterly disgusting)! I think that Kohls needs to see all the hard work these employees do and take notice of bad management in the stores. (Which is really WIDE SPREAD!) It's really not worth it all for a 3% yearly increase! (If we are lucky we get 3%)But with the job market the way that it is, we all stay out of necessity and at the same time we all need our jobs no matter how badly we feel that we should quit! Maybe the top management will see all our concerns and get up and do something themselves...why expand and build more stores when they cannot get the ones that have already in shape! Makes no sense at all to grow a company when they have such idiots running the show!

Racial slur
I did not know how or who to complain to so here it is. Last fall 08 my daughter Maria was accused of shop lifting and the person in charge of security called my daughter a "spick". He said, " all spicks are theives". My daughter has mental issues for which she is being treated. I don't know the man's name but I just want to tell all Hispanics not to shop at Kohl's dept store for they are racists. Even if she did steal which she didn't that is no excuse to call anyone racial slures. Thank you.

Tell Me What's Wrong...
Okay...so here's the deal.

I work at Kohl's, and I'm quite knowledgable about any and all policies kohl's has. And I'm getting tired of reading all these random complaints about how Kohl's is "running a credit card scam" or "not advertising what they have". All that jazz.

So, leave a complaint here, about anything regarding kohl's. Anything that hasn't been good for you. And i'll tell you how to fix it.

I warn you, though, you may not like the answer. More likely than not, the fault rests in your hands.

But if you really do want your problems solved, just tell them to me. Remember, I'm here to help :)

Unauthorized charges
I called Kohl's collections department because they left a message for me to call. I was told that I owed 14.36 for a charge made in February. I never received a statement for the charge. I was told I signed up for paperless statement and I must of received it, however I did not. Kohls told me they reported this to the credit bureaus and I had to write a letter to get this removed maybe from my record. I am 57 years old and never have had a bill I did not pay by the due date. This was a insult to me and feel they are tring to hurt my credit rating for 14.36. I wrote a letter and hope it clears my record, as for Kohl's I would not step foot in a Kohls Store ever again.I would never recommend Kohl's to anyone. I was treated very poorly, I do not feel they can inform the credit bureaus I did not pay a bill when I never recieved a statement.

False Advertising
My wife and I recently went to Kohl's to purchase an extra gift for Mother's Day. The flyer we were using showed a pair of diamond accent earrings originally $50.00 marked down to$11.76 and with further discounts a final price of $9.99. We asked the clerk where they were located and she directed us to 2 tables. Unfortunately there weren't any of the item we were looking for. We talked to the clerk and she made a call to the manger. She told us that all they had was what was on the tables and wouldn't be getting any more in.
On Friday we found a Kohl's special mother day sales flyer in our newspaper. Once again the earrings were listed. On the chance that the store had received new stock we called the store to verify that the item was actually in the store. The clerk said that they didn't have that item. The store had just gotten a trailer in and that item wasn't on the truck.
I went online thinking that maybe I could place an order for the earrings that way. The website showed the earrings with he same price as the sales flyer. I clicked on the "buy this item" button but was unable to find the item when the page reloaded. I then searched for the item by price and category and was again unable to find the item.
By this time I realized that this was some kind of bait and switch so I called trheir customer service. I spoke to a woman and explained the sequence of events. She suggested I call the store and speak to the manager. I explained I was already told that the earrings were unavailable. she apologized and asked if there was anything else she could do for me. I said yes, get the items you advertise in the store so people can actually purchase them. I told her that this was a bait and switch operation and asked her to report my complaint to her superiors.

It appears that Kohl's could give a rat's butt about their customers. If this was the end of the week of the sale I could see them being sold out of an item this cheaply priced. However this sales flyer was for Friday and Saturday. There was no way the store could have sold out that quickly (Friday morning). I've had a similar problem with Best Buy so I guess Kohl's will be added to my list of "crap" stores to shop (or not) with.
