Ripoff and horrendous customer service
I was paying for merchandise with debit card at jewelry/makeup counter. I do not use this card as a credit, ever. I slid the card into machine and before I even saw the options for debit/credit, the clerk handed me a receipt. I asked her how that happened as I didn't even press a button. Any button. It never even went to a credit/debit screen! She told me it's considered a debit if the card has "debit" on it and not to worry, if I had I return, I'd get cash back. I later purchased more items and the front register did the same exact thing so I figured they were telling the truth and this is the way they do the debit transactions now. Um...NO. I could not get cash back two days later when I returned an item. I asked for a manager (no name tag) and she told me the money would be immediately returned to the card. She said "I use my debit in here all the time, and the money goes right back on the card when I return anything." I believed her because Macy's does this. The only difference is they REALLY do it, Kohl's does not. After 3 days of not seeing my money, I called customer service who without asking even my name, told me to call the bank. I had already told the customer service clerk I called my bank twice. She said, well, I have to keep calling them. I got very firm with her and asked her why she never even asked for my name or any info to look into the matter of my money.I asked for a supervisor and got put on hold for a long time. This happened FOUR times, each time I was told that Susan, the supervisor said to FAX the receipt to them. In other words, no one was going to help me and that was that. The clerk, Jen, simply talked over me until I said our conversation was through, I was filing complaints with her name on them if she didn't get a supervisor in the next few seconds. Another person got on named, Gail, and she was not only nasty, she didn't want to hear my questions and as I was explaining what I needed, she continued repeating over and over louder than I was speaking, "But, how can I help you..but how can I help you..." I told her she could help my by answering my questions. She refused to give me anyone's employee number or last name so I could identify them in the complaints I now had to file. She stated each one of them were the only ones "there" with those first names. I had asked both customer service"people" for the name of their ceo and administrative address, neither one of them knew! Gail, the exremely nasty one told me to go online and look for it! She told me she couldn't help me, there was NOTHING she could do. I said there's always something that can be done if one wants to truly help and do a good job. She then offered me coupons but not my refund!!! I now have to file complaints with BBB and C.A. for this refund. I'm disgusted and want everyone to know what a lousy place Kohl's is.

Payments Online
I complete 98% of my recurring financial transactions online so I consider myself computer literate in this respect. Have done so in the past 20 years. No problems. I have just burned an hour or so re-visiting the online account. Try a 'Search' for Online Payment or any relevant term. The site is so overtly geared togenerating revenue that the search results take you to 'Information...' on various credit cards accepted by the store; just anything other than what is relevant. Even the home page carries an empty 'Shopping Cart' dangling in your face: the Cart is empty and waiting for 'Checkout'! Perhaps, another way to throw the customer off on a tangent. The whole site is convoluted and slanted away from the customer.
No wonder you hear them tout their Charge card every 2 minutes while browsing the store. Charge it. Then pay late payment penalties for computer glitches.

Kohl's card
I applied for a Kohl's Credit Card instore at the Kohl's in Spring Hill, TN at the customer service desk almost SEVEN WEEKS ago. I called the 1-800 for Kohl's about 4 weeks into waiting and the representative said I probably would be receiving it in about 1 week. Three more weeks have past and still NO CARD. So, I called today and the foreign gentleman informed me that they had a different address listed for me and it HAD been sent out. I told him they had the WRONG address and he is suppose to be closing the account, which was mailed out and mailing me another one...guess what? That means 3 more weeks for me to wait! I am very disappointed. I called the Spring Hill store and talked to the store manager. Bob told me that they have no control over "rushing" me the card. He was not helpful at all! Also, if you want to pay your balance at the store, they have "no idea" what the balance is and you have to use their phone to get that information. I know their slogan is "Kohl's...expect great things" but don't expect great things coming from the customer service!

Overzealus security practices
I do not know if it is common practice of all Kohl’s, but I will never return to another. About three months ago, we went into the Kohl’s in Cleveland. At the time, we were looking for some clothing for our little girl. After about 5 minutes of being in there, we started noticing that every department we walked through, they called on the speakers to scan and record the security cameras. We were angry, but finished shopping, made our purchases, and left.
Thinking and hoping it was only a fluke, we returned last night to look at some shoes for our son. Immediately, the call to scan and record came on the loud speaker, everywhere we walked. We had not even stepped into a department. My husband and I have never stolen anything. We have not even been late paying our bills. Our children are ages 3 and 1, so I know they weren’t calling because of them.
We had made a customer complaint after the first time it had happened, but we never heard back. No apology, no phone call, nothing.

Sexual harassment
Kohl's treats it's customers better then it's employees. Human resources think it's ok to use sexual harassment in their talks with employees. I find many flaws with their the customer is always right. No matter what thinking.
I worked at Store Number 5280 in Shakopee. I was given 18 hours a week. After coming back from a horrible accident and being treated like worthless baggage. I see noreason to buy their expensive items when I could get the same thing at Target.

The most harrowing experience I ever had
Shopping at Kohls.com has been the most harrowing experience I have had with any retailer's website and customer service. It started with Black Friday when the website shut down...guess do to over abundance of shoppers. I never did get all I had set out to order. Went to Penneys site instead. But that is not the worst of it. I have been trying to order more from for 3 days. Now says I am locked out cause of too many failed attempts! Duh! Guess who's fault that is? So I have been trying to call them for 2 days...and all I can get is...We have an overabundance of callers. Please call back, Goodbye. Not even an option to hold. No way will I ever shop online with them again and the way I see they feel about their customers probably won't even shop in the stores.

Never again
I don't know who's in charge of the hiring practices at the Kohls in Havertown, PA, but my family will never shop there again. Apparently it's alright with them to have staff members ogle young women such as my daughter who's barely 16 at their customer service counter. In this case the young man we'll call "Will" since it's not far off from his actual name continued to stare at my daughter's chest even after my wife who was shopping with her at the time turned to him with an anger in her eyes. See my wife angry once and you'll understand. If this is the best they can do for staff I'll take our business elsewhere.

Shocking surprise
I bought my mother a $75 gift certificate so she could buy herself a new coat for Christmas. Since she lives in a different state, I bought her one that could be sent to her via email. Upon recieving the gift certificate, she printed it out and went to the local Kohl's where she lives. After picking out a coat she liked, she was told that since she had recieved an e-certificate that she must make her purchase online. She proceeded to log onto Kohl's.com, picked out a coat, but when she tried to check out was told that her gift certificate was invalid. She tried several more times to make her purchase but recieved the same message and eventually gave up. After recieving this information by phone call from her, I proceeded to call Kohl's customer service dept and was told that I needed to call the gift card dept. When I called that dept I got a voicemail, left a message but after several days was not called back. Long story short, after placing several calls and leaving several messages I finally spoke to a lady who said she would call me back when the issue was resolved. This was over 2 months ago and apparently they just blew me off. So thank you Kohl's for scamming me out of $75 and leaving my mother in the cold without a new coat.

Don't anyone buy a gift card
I purchased a gift card in the amount of 200.00 for my granddaughter-in-law & found out that they are in the process of divorce. I tried to get my money back & they would only take it for merchandise, so I bought my mom a George Foreman, only to find out that she didn't like it & there is no Kohl's store where she lives, It was tehn again I found out that my gift card was worthless, they would only give me another gift card.
So as far as I can tell, I am out 200.00
Don't anyone buy a gift card-they are useless. That is not the only experience I have heard of about gift cards.

No bathroom breaks when needed
I'm a seasonal employee and Kohl's managers will not give us much needed breaks. I have worked five hours without a break after repeatedly asking for a bathroom break. It is a OSHA regulation that we get bathroom breaks whenever they are needed...see OSHA 29 CFRToilet facilities .1910.141.(c)(1)...I signed off the register and told the manager I had to take a bathroom break; she pointed her finger at me and told me to get back on that register because we had customers, even though there were two other registers still open. This is the conditions we have to work in because of the economy. Employers think they can pay minimum wage and treat employees any way they please. I would quit, but my family needs the money, though it is little. They also only give employees 11-12 hours a week. The only full time help is management positions.
Please be kind to your cashier.
