payment mix up
I went to Kohls and made my charge card payment on May 1st, 2010. I didn't realize that somehow my check number had been read incorrectly. since they turn everything into ACH, this led to the check being taken out of my account twice. i have faxed them copies of my account records, the check involved. it STILL has not been corrected. just got another email from them this morning, saying it could take up to another 60 days. so i am, and have been out $100, plus interest until they decide to take care of it. So don't expect great things from kohls.

Stay far away from them
I went to Kohl's last week to return an item, on the way out I noticed some boys t-shirts folded up on a rack in the middle of the isle. On one side was girls t-shirts. The sale sign said t-shirts $5.00. At the register the shirt rang up at $11.90 or something. So I told the gal about the sale sign and she said, no these shirts are never that price. So I left without the shirt. This has happened to me several times at Kohl's. After Christmas markdowns, was trying to figure out sales price, asked a clerk, she said they were out of the sales items that were listed on the sign. But there were a ton of items located on the shelves with the sign.
I don't know if it is a sales tactic, they figuring you will go ahead and buy. It's a bit annoying.

Credit card fraud
During a checkout at Kohl's, I was offered a "department store" card by the cashier and a $20 discount. I thought it was a Safeway card style discount card. Big mistake! I entered some info on a POS device (address, phone, etc.) and the cashier promptly obtained my signature. When I saw the APR XX% on the form, I asked her if this was a department store card or a credit card. She said it was a credit card. I was shocked, I immediately refused the discount despite her insistence. She refused to cancel my application and told me to take the issue with the customer service. I was furious, she literally grabbed the application form and didn't give it back. Now, I'm trying to contact Kohl's with multiple letters to "know" if they issued me a credit card or not. I got a card in the mail, but I don't know if they charged me an annual fee or not. I do not receive any account information on this card, just the plastic card itself. I do not get any replies to my letters either. I will file a complaint with the Office ofAttorney General in California and report Kohl's to Better Business Bureau.
I am very outraged and very frustrated. I'm sending them letters requesting information if there is any balance on the card or fees and I make copies of the letters in case they try to charge me and I take them to court.
Kohl's employed deceptive tactics in this case:
1. Kohl's employee should have clearly told me it was a credit card application.
2. She should have cancelled the application on the spot upon my clear request (ie. destroy or give me back the application form with my signature on it)
3. I should have been given a document stipulating the terms of this credit card application. I don't even know what are the fees and conditions.
Beware of Kohl's deceptive and fraudulent tactics.

failure to remedy erroneous credit reporting
As others have reported, I too suffered a severe negative impact on my credit card because of Kohl's. I have held a Kohl's credit account for 25 years and always paid the full balance every month when it became due. At their urging, I converted to receiving my monthly statements through email with no paper statement through the mail.
Early this year I received an automated phone call from Kohl's telling me that my account was several months past due. This was news to me as I had never received an email statement.
After speaking with the Kohl's customer rep, I learned that my son (away at college) had used the Kohl's card to buy 35 dollars worth of merchandise a couple of months previous. I never received a bill from Kohl's because Yahoo (my email carrier) was automatically throwing all email from Kohl's into the virtual rubbish bin and not delivering it to my in box. The Kohl's rep explained that they (Kohl's) were aware that Yahoo was doing this, but apparently they didn't think it was something they needed to alert their customers about.
The bottom line is that my 35 dollar balance had ballooned to 85 dollars with all the penalties and interest. After realizing that the bill went unpaid because I never received any statements, the Kohl's rep removed the extra charges and I immediately paid the 35 dollars owed.
Two weeks later I receive an alert from my credit monitoring service - my credit score took a 60 point hit because Kohl's reported my late payment. I was furious and sent Kohl's a long letter requesting that they remedy this since the cause was their fault (and Yahoo's), not mine. They wrote back and refused to do so.
So bottom line is - my credit score has been seriously damaged thanks to Kohl's intransigence.
Like I said - I was a 25 year customer of Kohl's. Not any more!!

Avoid Kohl's like a plague
Poor service_Sadly, the jewelry counter clerk noticed me but failed to approach; no one else was anywhere shopping at that counter. I stopped and closely viewed items in and on top of the case including pearls (60% +10% off) gold earrings, and the clerk totally ignored me...I left. (My wedding set is 1+carat with diamonds in the setting-right hand ring 1 carat blue diamond with white diamond set in platinum and I was dressed white leather jacket and jeans) store.

Fictional charges
I rounded up my Kohl's payment, which should have left a .53 balance. When I got my next bill I noticed that credit balance wasn't there and checked my previous online statement. Kohl's had simply added a .53 charge to take my extra money! I just called and they'll reverse it, but if this is happening to all cardholders, I'm sure there's others out there who sometimes round up their payment.

Very unhappy with their policy and I surely will let others know about it
I have been a customer of Kohls since 2003. Today I was going to use my Kohls cash for $20 that I was given a few weeks ago and was told it expired and was no good. You can look up my account and find I spend a lot of money at Kohls. I don't think Kohls cash should have an expiration date on it since it is a gift from Kohls for shopping at their stores. As soon as I find another store nearby our home I will no longer shop at Kohls if you are going to continue to keep this policy. If it is a true gift it would not have an expiration date on it. Very unhappy with this policy and I surely will let others know about it.

They will try to rip you off doe to their negligence
I just now canceled my account among many other unhappy Kohl's customers I've been finding online,
- When I went to pay my bill online, I plugged in my routing number and acct number perfectly and the site said my payment went through.
- a few weeks later I received a bill saying I still owed that amount plus a returned check fee!!!
- when i called about their mistake, the 2 people in customer service were USELESS and they said that my routing # and the last 4 digits of my acct # they had on file was right and they refuse to pay the returned check fee from the bank. They think it was my bank's fault.
-Even if there was an error in tranferring funds from my bank to their company, they never let me know which is ridiculous. I had plenty of money in my account.
-DO NOT DO ONLINE BILLING WITH THIS COMPANY!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE!!!
--NEVER EVER WILL KOHLS GET A PENNY FROM ME EVER AGAIN!!!

They will ruin your credit
I only went online 1 time to look at my account, unaware that must have signed me up for ebilling. I received a phone call yester from Kohl's saying I was late on my credit card payment. I was complewtely unaware of this, never saw a bill online or in the mail. I'm 46 years old and have never paid a bill late in my life! They told me it was sent to credit agency. Refused to listen to me, and will not do anything. I told them to look it up and they would see I haven't been online on Kohl's since my last paper bill. I always paid my account ahead of time when I was receiving a paper statement. My balance was less than $100. I make over 300, 00 a year - I would have no problems paying my bill if I were to receive one.

Destroy your Kohl's charge card right away if you have one
Destroy your Kohl's charge card right away if you have one. Even though you do AutoPay setup on MyKohl's Charge webpage, they sometime don't charge your bank acount (if already setup) and inform the Credit Bureau and screw up your credit in no time. If you sign up for email notification for your payment, sometime you might not even get it and they report Credit Bureau. Which means Kohl's screw you up from credit history point of you. And they won't admit there fault and they don't tell Credit Bureau to fix your credit either.
I have stopped using Kohl's charge card, you better do that too. Never in my history i was delayed for any payment with other stores or credit card and with Kohl's it already happened 2 times around same time of the year (Sept, Oct).
