I placed a layaway in the store on Oct 1, 2007 when Kmart started the $1 layaway and when I received my contract I told the sales person that I would not get paid on the exact payment due date she said oh they wont put it back for just a couple of days. So I have been paying on it every two weeks give or take a couple of days, because of the way that I get paid. My initial total was $302. and now I owe maybe $150. now does that sound like I am playing around and not trying to get my layway out. Well at any rate I paid on it last on Nov 3, 2007 and I was planning on getting it out on Nov16 or 17. I was informed that I had to hurry and pick it up or it will be put back. I don't feel like I should be intimidated by anyone to pick up my layaway before it is due as I have been paying on it every two weeks. I can see if I had been skipping payments. I have put in a layaway at Kmart for the last few years at christmas and have always paid the same as I have worked in the same place and have always gotten them out and have never had a problem now all of a sudden the way I am paying on my layaway is not sufficient. I think that as long as it doesn't run into my next time to pay that it should be fine. I don't have money to be giving away and don't feel like I should have to beg anybody to hold my layaway until I can come pick it up. Now I am going to have to get some one to go early friday morning for fear that it will be put back so that they can pick it up for me. You may not think that this is a big deal but let it happen to enough of your consumers and then you will see how big a deal it is and I am sure that other people have had a problem with this manager but just didn't know where to go to report it. Now I am a avoid shopper at Kmart and this has really given me something to think about. Yes right now it may be just one person, and you may not think that my complaint is significant but I think that all complaints should be taken seriously.
