Some day in August, 2010, I went online to book hotel for my California trip with my family. I clicked in Howard Johnson Hotel website and booked 2 rooms for 5 nights. However, I had a problem with my internet (I used a wireless one) couple time at that moment so I though that my booking was not going through. I also kept checking back my email to see if any hotel confirmation or not but there was nothing. That made me be sure that the reservation was not go through. I waited until 2 days before my trip start to reserved the other Howard Johnson that I believed that I went through the website before.
My trip went well, the hotel was fine and nothing was wrong until I received my credit card statement. Beside the charging of the Howard Johnson that I stayed with, the Howard Johnson in San Bruno charged me 2 rooms for 5 nights $682.50 without stay. I called the them and was told that because I booked the non refund, non cancel hotel website so I would not get my money back. I tried to explain to them about what happen but they still kept their decision.
The things that I concerned here is:
-I never, ever, read, see or hear about non refundable, non cancellation hotels reservation.
-I got no confirmation from the hotel by email as well as mail so I had no hotel information. How can I know what Howard Johnson in California to call to cancel?
If I knew that I was reserved the hotel for my trip. Am I crazy enough to book the other hotel and got charge twice like this?
