I boarded a yellow taxi with the car plate number HB7736 at mid valley South Court Menara IGB. Once i boarded the cab, i tried to look for the meter to ensure that the taxi driver has on the meter. However, i noted that the meter was covered and so i politely asked the driver if meter was on. He then pull aside the cloth which was blocking the meter. To my shock, the meter shown RM3.20. I requested the driver to restart the meter but he insisted that he just on the meter. It was an obvious act of dishonest and apparently he just started the journey so it is impossible for the meter to read RM3.20. There were only 2 possibilities. The first was that he already started the meter before i boarded the cab (i.e. while he was waiting for customer) and the next was that it was preset to show RM3.20 once the meter was on.

Upon reaching the destination, i requested a receipt when it reflected RM9.00 but the driver pondered for a while before pressing for the receipt button. By then, the meter has gone to RM9.10. I was also amazed that the meter automatically added RM2.00 to the travel cost. I suspected that the meter was preset to automatically include the RM2.00 call charge.

I was upset by the dishonest acts of the Indian Taxi Driver and hopes that KL Taxi Association will look into this matter so that there will be no more victims or complaints. In my opinion, such acts will severely damange the image of KL Taxi Drivers and of course the Association and the Country as a whole especially when the victims are foreigners.
