Purchased Saw not as stated in email from Company
Wanting to purchase a ring saw to cut stained glass for mosaic work, I began investigating online sites that offered such a saw. I then narrowed down my choices to 2 companies, one of them Gryphon Corp., specifically the Gryphon Ring Saw. As part of my investigation into which of the 2 companies produced the best saw for my work, I wrote Gryphon Corp. an email, asking them if it was true that their saw would grind down the cut edges of glass to a smooth and clean result? I have posted their email back to me BELOW, stating that, yes, it would. So I decided to purchase their saw and found a buyer on EBay. I purchased the saw for $339.00 and it came within a few days. I set up the saw, read all the directions and produced to do a test piece or two. I quickly noticed that the cut edges were anything BUT "a nice smooth edge". In fact, they were chewed up worse than anything I had been able to produce by hand! I kept working with the saw, trying different ways of using the saw, holding the glass, going fast or slow, etc., etc. Every cut produced the same jagged, chipped edge...completely inappropriate for the work I do and the reason I bought the saw in the first place. I would NOT have purchased this saw had the company told me the truth. I contacted the Company and sent them close-up digital pics of the chewed up edges. They responded that I needed to try this and that, which I did. Nothing changed. I then received a call from them saying that I needed to grind down the diamond blade by cutting stones or granite or some other hard surface with the saw and maybe that would work. I was astounded by this "suggestion". I just purchased the saw brand-new, based on their report of a nice, smooth edge and now they were asking me to essentially grind down the saw to TRY to get it to work!! I should NOT have to do this and, if I had, the seller would never have accepted it back. After much frustration, I packaged up the saw the returned it to the seller, however, now the seller is not only charging me for the return shipping back to him (which was $35 via FedEx) but also a 15% restocking fee, which on this item will be nearly $50.00. Therefore, I am now out $85.00 and have absolutely nothing to show for it! In good faith I investigated and purchased this saw and the company chooses now not to respond back to me when I sent them a copy of their original email and asked them what they would do about it and how they would stand by their product. I have yet to receive a response.
