Late Fees
I was charged with 4 consecutive late payments which is not correct. I made a payment 6/18/2010 for my July Statement. Then I made a payment July 8 2010 for my August statement, which was not applied to August but instead applied to the July Statement. From that month on they assessed a late fee for every month. I spoke to customer service and requested a reversal of all the late fees because I had been paying on time or even early. The company incorrectly applied the August payment to July, but I was told the company policy was to only give one late fee waiver. I wrote a letter to Presidential Correspondence, PO Box 981438, El Paso Texas 79998 and am waiting for a reply. I asked for a reversal of the late fees. The company did not apply my July 8 payment to the correct month and now it believes I have been paying late, when in reality I have been paying early.

Excessive Charges/Lie About Settlement
Back in 2006 I has laser eye surgery and financed it through GE Money Bank with a payment of $65 per month. I lost my job approximately 6 months after my surgery and called to make payment arrangements with them, They cut my payment in half, but what they did not tell me was that they charged me late fees on the half I was not paying.
Well, here it is May of 2010 and I owe more than $500 more than the original amount of $2000. They have charged me excessive late fees, over credit limit fees and 22.98% interest.
I called to settle this bill and we agreed to a settlement of $589. I split in 3 payments. The day before my last payment was due I called them to see if I could in any way change the payment date to the 13th instead of the settlement due to a work check being late. No problem is what they told me. I did not want this to affect my last payment.
I just got off the phone with them and they said because I was late the deal was off and I still owe them $2000.
All of the customer service is in India and frankly these people have major attitude and when I asked to speak with his supervisor who he had put me on hold with, he hung up on me.
I am sick of this company and taking them to court. This is beyond ridiculous.
No matter what ANYONE says about this company... DO NOT DEAL with them as they lie like a sleeping dog. The scamming liars... I am over them!!

Deceitful About Interest Rate & Terms
I planned to have a large amount of dental work performed and was thrilled when my dentist gave me a pamphlet advertising GE Money Bank’s “Care Credit.” The terms advertised were “0% interest for 12-months.” I agreed to these terms with GE Money Bank in writing. I planned to pay off my entire balance before the 12-months expired. Eight-months into this agreement, I received a letter from Care Credit stating that the terms of my credit agreement are changing in 30-days to an outrageous interest rate of 29.5%. I’ve never paid any bills to any creditors late and have no other debts. Perhaps I was naïve to think GE Money bank would even honor their advertised terms of “0% interest for 12-months, ” especially after seeing all of the other consumer complaints about them. As soon as I got the notice, I immediately paid of my entire balance. I never plan to use GE Money Bank / Care Credit ever again and wanted to warn people that GE Money Bank’s advertising of its credit terms is completely dishonest and deceitful. Since we both agreed to terms of “0% interest for 12-months, ” that is what I expected. If GE Money Bank had advertised any other terms, I would not have applied for and used their credit card. I wanted to let others know to stay away from this unscrupulous financial institution! They cannot be trusted to honor their own terms that they are advertising!

unfounded fees
I have posted this on Consumeraffairs.com, have filed a complaint with the BBB in El Paso Texas, and I'm just warming up!!
Like most folks, I didn't have dental insurance when I really needed it. I found an add in the yellow pages of dentists whom you could get credit through. I was accepted by GE Money Bank, for their Care Credit credit card. I had no complaints about GE/Care Credit until August of 09. My monthly bill came, and I see they are charging me a $39.99 late fee. I called them up, and asked why. (I pay my bills on line and have proof of when they are paid.) I say, I paid my bill on the due date, why the late fee? They told me that the due date does not matter if that due date falls on a Saturday or Sunday! That I needed to pay my bill Monday thru Friday. I told them I had never received notice of this policy change. They asked me how I paid my monthly bills, I told them that I pay on line. They say, it's stated on our web site that payments are only accepted Monday through Friday's. I say ok then, but isn't it the LAW to inform customers of policy changes through the mail prior to the due date, and what if I had made my payments through the mail, would I have had notice then? She said yes... LIER... On my monthly bill it states VERY CLEARLY "Payment due by 5pm Eastern on the date due" in big bold lettering! I did not point that out, as they said they would remove the late fee. Great, all is as should be.
Now, here come's my real complaint!!!
I just received my September bill. It show's my credit of $39.99, but now they want a minimum payment of $91.00. My usual payment is $76.00 per month. I go through my bill, all the figures add up correctly, so why the 15 dollar difference? So once again I call customer service. They send me over to an "EXSCALATION SPECIALIST" named JUSTIN. JUSTIN is a very NASTY little man. VERY rude, and acted like HE wanted to fight. JUSTIN told me that the $15.00 charge was for "THE ACT OF INCURRING A LATE CHARGE". I said hummm, nowhere on my bill does it state that I am getting charged for that "Act of incurring a late charge", the only thing I see is that my monthly payment went from 76.00 to 91.00. I then asked whom I should call on Tuesday. JUSTIN ask's why? I said that I wanted to speak with someone "higher up". JUSTIN then said, "THERE IS NO ONE HIGHER UP THAN
ME" and that "THERE WAS NO WAY I WOULD WIN THIS FIGHT".
Little does JUSTIN or GE MONEY BANK know! I'm like a dog with a bone and I won't give up this fight without a win!! I intend to write my state representatives, the Better Business Bureau, and President Obama! I also intend to write every consumer rip off web site I can find to voice my opinion about the unfair practices of GE Money Bank. Good luck to us all!! We will need it in our fights against GREEDY CORPORATE RIP OFF'S!!! POWER TO THE PEOPLE, WE’RE SICK OF BEING RIPPED OFF!!
Economic damage: $15.00 and many hours of MY wasted time with GE Money Bank.
MILLION'S of dollars ripped off from the American public who actually struggle to pay their bill's on time only to be charged bogus and unfounded fee's by creditors!
MY opinion as posted on the consumeraffairs.com website

Cheating, lying swindlers!
Good God! I thought I was the only one that had a horrible experience with these scumbags. It's like this. I signed up for Care Credit to pay for some medical bills I had. I arranged to pay my bill online, as this was the simplest way of keeping track of everything. Two months in, my bank account info was stolen, which forced me to close out the account I signed up for with Care Credit. No problem, they said. Just give us your new info when you get it, and all will be right with the world. Great, I thought, a credit card company that actually cares about their clients.
Ha. After reestablishing my bank account, I submitted my new info to the Care Credit website, and, away we go. Not so fast there, ace. According to them, my bank account info was wrong, they couldn't get payment. Not so bad, I hadn't used up all my credit, so they just added to my balance so they could collect more interest. This was in spite of the fact I was looking at my online statement while speaking to the CSR and it clearly showed that I made payment on the due date. It took them a WEEK to determine that my bank info was wrong. Ok fine, simple mistake, these things happen.
But wait. The next month, it happened again. Then again, then AGAIN. For some reason they stopped sending me bills through the mail, even though I never asked them too. I spoke to a customer service representative that will most likely never achieve the final stage of nirvana with the attitude she had, and in her broken and heavily accented Indian-ish that they could not take the money out of my account due to a transaction error. In an effort to expedite the situation, I stupidly gave them my checking numbers over the phone (which I may add, sounded a smidge more advanced than two tin cans and length of string), and hoped that would be the final, ultimate end to this nightmare. Again, not so fast there.
Long story short, the CSR entered in my bank info wrong, and I got charged for their mistakes. When I finally got the correct number to call to speak to someone about my plight, I got a relatively nice person that calmly explained that in spite of the terrible customer service I received, in spite of the mistakes THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES MADE, in spite of the fact that I had made every reasonable effort to pay this bill on time with the correct funds, they couldn't correct the situation, and that the $145 dollar a month finance charges I had to pay were mine to deal with. Due to late fees, charges and whathaveyou, I now pay an APR of 30%, my credit is wrecked and there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I understand that they have a business to run, but a simple online check to verify the correct account information on their end would have saved me almost $700 in banking fees.
I have never had to deal with such deceitful, underhanded business practices. Rest assured that I will never have anything to do with this company ever again, and will recommend that no one else do business with them as well. If anyone is getting together a class action, count me in!

Raising finance charge when payments on time
I have had a ge money bank care credit account for 2 years now, i have made payments for those 2 years and have not seen my balance decrease. As a matter of fact i have seen an increase every month. When i called customer service i was told my promotion was over, i advised the rep that i was never told about a promotion period i was told i was on a fixed pay plan. He then said that my interest rate sky rocketed to 27% after promo period. Now my payments have gone from 130 to 150 to 185 and just today i saw that the payment is now 194 and i have not been late on the card. These terms and conditions were not explained to me when the card was signed for nor was i given a copy of my contract.

Charges for services not rendered
I went to a dentist and he sold me an appliance that never fit me.
I had to go to another dentist and pay more money. Now GE Money still wants me to pay $1000.00 for something I couldn't use. Plus they have upped the interest rate even though I made payments. I really hate the way they do business.

They don't keep accurate records
Our care credit account has been a pain in the neck since we got it. They did not send our first bill so immediately (6 weeks after the surgery) had added extra fees. Then to get all that cleared up took hours. We then paid the "payoff" balance with our tax return but suddenly the offer disappeared. There was now $60.00 left over. In the meantime I sent $20.00 toward that as I was too busy to argue at the time and I just found out that wasn't even accredited to my account and they added another $50.00+ of interest charges! Our bill is now $133.00@!!!
I will contact the medical provider and tell them to trash that company's pamphlet.
