I received the letter that informed my ESCO (Energy Service Company) will be changed from EXenergy to Ambit New York LLC effective 12/01/10.
I have never known Ambit New York LLC before, and of course, I did not make any contract with A. N. Y. LLC.
So, I called my energy delievery company, which is National Grid, and then, changed my ESCO back to National Grid.
On Dec/14/10 I received a letter that requires early termination fee of $150.00 from EXenergy.
My Contract started Jan.2009 and sales person explained, at that time, that early termination fee would be adjusted if I cancel the service within a year.
I called the company to argue about that. and they replied that my contract had been extended automatically for another year because I did not call the company in certain period. The operator said that automatical extension of contract was informed at the welcomeing letter.
I did not receive the welcoming letter 2 years ago. What can I do? If the company say they surely sent the letter.
And is it valid that the company write down such a important regulation on the welcoming letter without any explanation.
I can avoid fee if i extend my contract until 02/01/2011. but i really don't want this company anymore and don't want to pay termination fee. What Can I do? Should I pay fee if I don't enroll the company again? Please let me know what can i do.
