Buyer beware
I would like to file a complaint with you pertaining to a real estate experience my wife & I are having with Rainbow Springs Community Realty, Inc. in Dunnellon, Florida. Please take the time to read the following. Fifteen years ago, my wife & I decided to build a home in Rainbow Springs G&CC in Dunnellon. Life was simple there and the community itself was a pleasant place to live. We had the Rainbow River and only one traffic light in town. After moving away from there for several years, we decided to move back. We worked with one of their agents, picked out a lot, chose a model, and gave them a $5, 000.00 deposit, never thinking something would go wrong. Well, right around Thanksgiving, my wife had several medical tests done and was given some bad news. A serious health condition was diagnosed which will require many DR's visits over many months, and probably surgery. We decided at that point it would be imossible for us to continue with our plans to move to Rainbow Springs. The specialists and treatments that are needed are here in Port Orange where we live. We were informed by the management of Rainbow Springs, it did not matter what our reasons were for changing our minds, they were not going to return our deposit money. They say we signed a contract, and they were going to stick by it, irregardless. We feel that Rainbow Springs, to our shock and surprise, is the type of company where only the bottom line matters. People don't. We feel they have no compassion what-so-ever for people like ourselves, who find themselves in a situation like ours. We think other consumers should be made aware of the type of company, we feel, they could potentially be dealing with. We have grown to think that Rainbow Springs, if they can easily do this to us, will probably do this again to someone else. BUYER BEWARE. Maybe by getting this story out to other people it will help us get our $5, 000.00 back.
