eMusic Reviews

Unauthorized billing
I purchased eMusic gift card. It said it was the largest source of 'independent music' on the net. Turns out that means that there are no major artists available- any songs you know are sung by no-name artists that couldn't get a major label if they tried. I downloaded 7 of 100 songs before i realized my grave error. I tried to return to Target where I bought the card but they could not refund since I used 7 songs. I have requested that eMusic refund my money but they will not.

This is not a quality music service- this is a service that butchers your favorite songs. Also- if you read the reviews of real people- they will steal the money right out of your bank account.

billing before trial expired
Please be wary of attempting to claim free downloads from eMusic. I received a card for 35 free music downloads during a trial period lasting 30 days. I was required to join eMusic and select a club plan before I could download the free music. I downloaded my free mp3s on Oct. 17 and canceled the membership on Oct. 22. When I reviewed my credit card statement online, it showed I'd been billed on Oct. 21 for a full month's membership. When I contacted eMusic via its chat service, I was informed I'd agreed to this and it was buried in the "Terms of Use" document. However, upon finding the section referred to, it clearly noted no charges would be billed during the trial period. After threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau, online complaint sites and my credit card to protest the charge, eMusic wisely decided to follow its own Terms. Be very wary of using eMusic to claim your free music.

Scam
I sure wish I would have come to this website before I fell for their "try it risk free" baloney. Signed up for one week free trial, 25 free downloads. Didn't want to keep subscription, cancelled within the week as per instructions and got zapped with $14.99 one month subscription, yadda, yadda, yadda. It's the same scam everyone else is complaining about. I did get a response from customer service. It pretty much was, sorry sucker, you're out the money and we gotcha.

How can this company still be in business? I wish there was a way to redirect the next suckers who try to get a free trial from them, to this website to read all of the complaints before donating a subscription to them. Saving someone else this hassle would definitely make me feel better.

I got scammed
Emusic does scam. When you cancel your account, they send you an email if you click on it they automatically reactivate your account and they DO NOT tell you or send you a confirmation email. I am currently trying to get my wasted $90 back because I did not track my credit card charges well enough. My bad but YES THEY DO SCAM. Oh and they will not give you a refund even though they can see you never downloaded any music and did mean to cancel your account 8 months ago... They also will nto let you talk to any supervisors and hold you hostage when you try to call and complain. I reported them to the BB also.

Just want people to know that even so called legit companies can scam.

Fraud / Credit Card Charges
1. Despite two attempts to cancel account charges via their web site, credit card charges continue to appear.
2. Despite discussion with customer service, credit card charges continue.

- This is fraud. Theft.

Look, eMusic DOES offer downloadable music. I'll grant, some of it blows up for mysterious reasons eventually, but there is music that can be downloaded.

The problem is what the company does next. This is a criminal organization.

Rip off
I was also SCAMMED by emuSICK! These people need to be STOPPED! I suggest we all complain to the Internet Crimes Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov/ and also the FBI Internet Fraud. Center at http://www.fbi.gov/majcases/fraud/internetschemes.htm. If we do not let the government know we are serious, they will not take serious action against emusic!!!

Do it for the principle and to STOP THESE THIEVES from hurting others! THEY CAN RUIN YOUR CREDIT if you allow them...

Did not authorize this charge
My son is 10 years old and he received a free trial card from somewhere and i have noticed that my statement has been charged 9.99. So i looked back and i have been charged over and over again i no longer want this service we don't even have i pods so this is pointless to be giving children free trials with strings attached please return all monies paid out of pocket this service was never used. Discover card was charged.
