Online fraud
These people are maliciously fraudulent, and I would not recommend doing business with them in any manner. I certainly can not recommend their "free trial offer" anyway... it's inherently flawed and intentionally deceptive. They say you have a free Audiobook download for your trial, and that if you don't cancel within 2 weeks or so, it will go to a pay account. Okay, that's fine. What they don't tell you, except in extremely vague legalize in their "Terms of Service" is that if you use the one "free" download, it apparently means to them that you want to become a full paying member! So unless you want a "free trial" that consists of downloading absolutely nothing, I would not recommend trying it. The fact that they run such practices makes me question their ethics in general as well, and I would not want to do any business with such a shady company, myself. I contacted them disputing the charges and they did nothing, so I will dispute them with my CC company.

unauthorized charge on debit card
emusic offered a 'free trial membership' to their music download site. they ask for proof of being a first time customer by requesting your debit or credit card information. What they don't tell you is that as soon as you give that info they bill you for a year of their service without your permission. They billed my debit card $95.90 the day I signed up for their "trial service'. I have gone through my dispute resolution dept with no viable outcome. Emusic has refused to refund my money after several attempts of contacting them askibg that the money be returned immediately. They showed on the web page when I cancelled the 'trial membership' that my money would be refunded but it has been 3 months and I have received nothing by way of a refund thus far and they have refused to return any of the many contacts i've sent them about this matter. Any help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Unathorized billing
YEARS back I had a free trial subscription to EMUSIC, and cancelled after the trial. Just last week, they send an email to my OLD account from back then, which I barely use now and am trying to do away with saying to come back. I go to click on it to be removed from the mailing list, and it automatically takes me to a page that says 'Thanks for signing up'. I didn't agree to that! How is that even legal!? First off, shouldn't you have to confirm signing up? And what if that was someone else's email address now? It's been at least 3 years! That means that someone could access all my info and I could possibly have my identity stolen! How dare this company do that!? I cancelled the minute after and wrote them a complaint. Basically, they said it was too bad, I clicked on the link and they were charging me for that month! I didn't download anything! I sent a dispute to my credit card company, but I think this company should get in trouble, especially for storing personal information after accounts have been cancelled for years, and allowing personal information to be easily accessible! I'd be willing to file a suit; any lawyers interested, please contact me. This practice by them needs to be stopped before identities get stolen!

free downloads, billed anyway
My son received an mp3 player fro Christimas and inside was a free coupon for emusic. Free downloads. In order to ensure you haven't received your downloads you must provide a cc number. You will not be billed. I was. They say I enrolled in their monthly service. I was not sent any emails. I saw the charge from feb on my march bill and called them. They have a NO RETURN POLICY. So watch out. I was charged for Feb and March. 11.99 each month. First bill it was on was my March cc statement. Called the company and talked with Jared. He did give me one month back( still waiting to see if he actually does.) He also stated he canceled my acct. Called my cc company and they will check into it. But will have to see what happens.

Unauthorized billing
Billed 14.95 for a membership on 3/2/09 for an account that had been canceled in Nov 2008. Their claim was that the account was "frozen" and they had the right to revive it after the waiting period. When I expressed I did not want the membership and to refund the charge, they refused. I have taken the issue to my bank where they have credited me the funds and I have filed an FTC complaint. Any company who refuses to refund a product or service when the customer does not want it is a problem and should be avoided at all costs. That is simply bad business practices and makes the company seems desperate--a bad sign.

unathorized billing and not canceling
I did not authorize emusic to charge my credit card for any reason and did not sign-up nor use the service. I did contact them and they said they would cancel the serivece but that no credit would be given regardless of the reason. I am going to fight this but doubt it will do me any good. I would never sign up for this service and make sure you check your credit cards for charges by them.

Unauthorized charges
My new Toshiba laptop came with a free trial of emusic.com with one free book download and 50 songs. The monthly subscription rate after 14 days was $9.99 plus excess downloads.

They stated that I had unlimited downloads of the same book or song for the period. However when I queried the $9.99 charge on my statement at the bank, they claimed I downloaded twice the books of the same name. I only had one successful download of the book.

I canceled the subscription prior to the end of the 14 days. They said they would refund the $9.99. Now two weeks later they are claiming the I failed to cancel and that the charge is for the subscription, even though the charge to my account predated the end of the free period.

Taking funds from account
Since October of 2008, $11.99 has been taken out of a closed bank account, that reopened when the emusic sent charges to it. Due to the reoccuring charges I was charged overdraft fees and return item fees. I now have a balance of $409.00 due to this issue. The bank would not close the account as long as they sent it through. No one will help and emusic is non responsive and continues to withdraw funds.
