Selling Defective Goods
ECOST (a seller's store on EBAY) is selling consumers items that do not come in original packaging and are defective, in general. More specifically, 1 month ago, I bought two pairs of Sony Fontopia earphones from ECOST. These earphones were being sold as "NEW", but when received, they were so defective that I couldn't even connect the phones to my IPod and my ears. We all know that Earphones consists of 3 main wires, one being for the plug, the other two for the ear phones. The product that ECOST sold me had one of the ear phones where the plug should have been, and the lengths of the wires were less than 1 foot. That's like having an leg for an arm and an arm for a leg, trying to put on your pants or shirt - it just doesn't fit. I find it hard to believe that Sony would ever make something so defective and sell it on the market, and suspect that this company is selling counterfeit goods. I confronted their company and they told me that one of their Merchants/Warehouses were at fault, that's B/S. Any person or company that blames others for their failure is a failure of their own.

Prior to this transaction, I bought a Motorola bluetooth (H710) from ECOST. When received, it came in a sealed plastic bag with a EBAY item number only. When paired to my phones, the speaker worked, but mic never did. I requested a refund, never got one, so I decided to open it up to see where the problem might be (I'm a electrical engineer by profession). It turns out that the wire/lead going to the microphone element wasn't soldered properly and was causing an open circuit to the mic. Same response from ECOST - its one of their vendors' faults. Yeah friggin' right ECOST, just GOOGLE yourself and discover that there are over 6000 people just like me who have complained.

Do not buy from ECOST!

FRAUD
After purchasing 3 monitors, one came without a base. I called the company multiple times to ask for them to send. Finally disputed the charge, and they responded 3 months later and sent the base. I Setup the monitor, plugged it in and it was dead. Called ECOST and they said too bad for you, its beyond 90 days warranty.

Deceptive marketing
http://www.ecost.com/Detail/Lighting+and+Fans/Triarch+Industries/32317/39900129.aspx?navid=155442295

shows price as $54.99

When I place an order, after *5* days, the order is cancelled. Deceptive advertsing and marketing. When I call, they claim it is out of stock.

Bunch of jokers!

Read the fine print and expect no exceptions
Ordered a Netgear WNHDE111 in September. When I received the unit, I found out it was incompatible with my setup. I was told by ecost that they did not accept returns and that the compatibility information was clearly stated on the site. I tried to get support from Netgear, but they refused because the item had not serial number. I requested a serial number from eCost, and after three months of being promised one, I was told that they could not supply one. In spite of this, they refused to take the item back, so I am stuck with it and cannot get support to determine if it can be made compatible.

wrong merchandise sent
i purchased a Nikon camera, online from Ecost, with whom I have done business for several years... they sent the wrong camera...well..it was the same color anyway...but a totally different model...I immediately notified them about the error. They asked me to send a photograph of the item that they did send with the bar code, model and serial number...which I did...then I was told...only after I repeatly called them, getting answers like, "the person who handles that is at lunch"...when someone, Jay Aceres, emailed me he told me that he couldn't open the jpgs that i sent (although I sent them to a friend who experienced no problem doing so) and that I had to resend them as PDF or BMT format...I sent them again! Next I was told that he needed to escalate this to ECOST's supplier and that I should kindly wait for 1-3BD for an update...whatever a 1-3BD is!...I tried twice, subsequently, to finish this conversation and get the problem resolved, for I was leaving for a trip and would like to have this settled and get the right camera before the potential x'mas gift recipient departs for London...I've heard nothing...I even left a friend to care for my home and gave her access to my email in the event that Mr. Aceres calls again...But I'm not holding my breath!...In the meanwhile, I have a camera that I didn't order and DON'T have the one that was clearly printed on my receipt. I think this xmas gift will not be under the tree!

deceptive, non-communicative, and just not smart
I was a repeat loyal customer. Until I had a problem, entirely caused by Ecost. Ordered a JVC Home Theater system from them. They completely misrepresented it on their site. When it arrived I immediately contacted them. They required that I send photos of the difference, which I found frustrating since it was their own product. However, I complied. Net out = after investing hours of my time, photographing, emailing to non-replies, completely being lied to over and over I finally filed with my credit card company. I even advised them after the fact of this and though I received an automated email, never once received any feedback. BTW, I probably spent and additional 3 hours on the phone with customer service (outsourced somewhere half around the world). No follow up by them and promised on multiple occasions either.

What ever do if given the chance tell ECost to go to hell. You'll regret it otherwise.

Shipping error
I ordered a silver Kodak Easyshare digital camera for my nephew for his birthday. I was sent a Pink camera. The box it was sent in had a picture of a silver camera. The order said my item was a silver camera. I reported the problem to them. They said they would send me a shipping label. I checked the mail everyday for a shipping label that never came. The shipping label was emailed to me and the customer service rep failed to let me know that the label was coming via email and not regular mail. So the shipping label expired after one week. I requested 3 more times to have the label sent to me and they never sent me another one. Unfortunately, this was dragged out beyond my 60 day limit to charge back with my bank, so I'm stuck with 'THEIR" screw up. A pink camera for my nephew's birthday in July. Poor customer service. They admitted their warehouse was to blame, but they refuse to send me another label to send it back and they will not accept it back. Buyer beware.

Fraudulent practices
I wanted to order an LCD TV, but mistakenly ordered an LCD monitor. I called Ecost, but they refused to exchange the item. I was ready to add more money to buy a TV and cover all shipping expenses, but they flat out refused. I would not recommend buying anything from Ecost again.
I had been shopping with them for around two years prior to this incident.

Ordered five "recertified by Logitech" 1500 rechargeable keyboard/mouse desktop sets. received five extremely used logitech 1500 desktop sets that were literally dumped in a box and missing the rechargeable batteries and the regular batteries. Also missing the CD's for installation. Called Ecost and after 30-45 minutes of hold was instructed that in order to return the items that I would have to call Logitech and get a case number. Called Logitech and was informed that all recertified products come in original packaging with all accessories including batteries and installation cd's and would never arrive in the condition I received the items in. Logitech gave me case number 090610-001431 and I called Ecost back and after a very lengthy hold time, was informed that I would receive an RMA authorization in the email after 24 to 72 hours. After reading other reviews on customer dissatisfaction with Ecost I do not expect a resolution in a timely manner if at all. Will be filing with BBB and Attorney General. Their practices for returns are clearly designed to discourage and delay the process. Restocking fees are charged even on non-delivered and defective merchandise. I am writing this review as the only means to warn others to the deceptive practices of Ecost.com. Order from legitimate company's like Newegg and Zipzoomfly where legitimate returns are handled quickly and courteously.
ECost.com is the poster child of deception and fraud.

Fraudulent advertising
I bought 5 "Manufacturer Recertified" Dell Latitude D610 laptops that included a Dell "Manufacturer Warranty". Two laptops arrived damaged; one had burn marks and another could not hold a battery charge. I immediately called eCost and was told I needed to call Dell directly regarding the laptop that would not hold a charge. I did; Dell said not only was none of the laptops under warranty, but none of those laptops ever went back to Dell to be certified as “Manufacturer Recertified”. In fact, they all came from the same business entity and all were out of warranty. Dell was escalating internally to senior management because they do not have an agreement in place with Dell, and eCost is illegally misrepresenting Dell products as being manufacturer recertified and warranted by Dell when they are not.

After MULTIPLE phone calls to eCost since receipt of the order, I have been told repeatedly that I would have managers’ follow-up in 24-48 hours, and that I would receive an email with a return authorization label number, etc. I called again today, for the 8th time, and was assured it would be 24-48 hours before I have a resolution. I have had it!

I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and am also filing a dispute with my credit card company since no one at eCost seems to actually want to rectify this situation.

DO NOT FACE THE SAME ISSUES ALL OF US HERE HAVE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED AGAINST BUIYING FROM THIS BOGUS COMPANY SO BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
