Company at fault: Discover Enterprise Magazine Membership

I have been receiving a few magazines in the mail that I, now my wife has ordered. I have tried on several occassions to contact the above listed company to no avail. There isn't telephone number, email addres or an address to the person directly involved with selling this crap. Today I received a bill in the mail for $79.92 for magazines I never ordered and were sent to me anyway. I am NOT paying this bill as I never agreed to having them sent to me. You either take this charge and any further charge off my credit and refrain from turning me over to collectoins or I will first, file a police report against your company for fraudulent practices as well as contact the BBB. Either way it is your choice but you should know, I will not be paying any money into your company for something I didnt order. I can be reached by cell 011-82-10-9467-3725. That is my wife's number. Her name is Mary Smith and I give her consent to speak to you on my behalf as I am always in the field. That number is a Korean number as we are stationed here and we are 17 hours ahead of you. I can also be reached via email at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you soon wherein you advise me that this fraudulent charge has been expunged my records and that you have removed my name and telephone number from you call list.

Very Truly Yours,

Roderick Smith

Gift Card/Credit Card Scam
I was sent a text message on my cell phone today saying " Hi Jane, Thanx 4 visiting our site Call 877-233-9186 to Claim Your FREE $200 Gift voucher to Walmart!
GiftCode: 7838e7a6.

I call the number and some man from an Indian decent answers saying thank you for calling Discover Enterprises and askes for my gift code#. I give it to him and ask what web site this was from and he says the name of the compony again. He then goes on to tell me that I need to decide of which two items I am going to try for a 30 free trial. One of them being subscriptions to some sort of magazines and I could not understand the other and then askes me which credit card I would like to use to pay for the one time only cost of $9.95 to ship the gift vouchers out to me. Unbelievable!! Really?
Watch out! They are fast talkers and are only out to get your credit card info and totaly screw your credit and any funds available that you may have... Some people have no shame or concience...

Fraudlent offers
The person on the phone, with an Indian accent, says his name is John Silver. His company, Discover Enterprises, is offering a $200.00 voucher with $100.00 for Wal-Mart and $100.00 for gas. His employee ID is supposed tp be 53121. He reassures the listener that there is nothing to buy, just $4.95, each, to pay for the vouchers. He askes for your Visa or Master Card number, reassures you that it is legit. Then someone else comes on the phone to enroll you in a myriad of services, starting at only $1.00 with 30 days to review each or cancel at a number read so fast there's no chance to write it down. Lastly the pin number for the vouchers is 12 digits long. The company claims to be located in Clearwater, Fl. This is all a scam. Don't get involved. If you did, have your credit card cancelled.

"Free gift cards"
Okay so after thinking I was going to do market research for about 45 minutes he did "clear it up."

I would have 45 days to review the membership

the two $100 gift cards (Wall Mart, Exxon) would be mine...

only $3.95 for shipping costs, but after 45 days my membership could
be something like 86 dollars a quarter...

Well after I had FINALLY gotten through everything (a bit easier than market resarch, after all) it seemed like I might only bet getting one or two $10 gift cards .. perhaps the other $180 was only for people who stayed members for over 2 years, I think...
But today I have 2 charges each much higher than the $3.95 I was told I would be authorizing UPON DELIVERY of the two gift cards.

Well what can I say? Half of the whole trial was because I was curious as to if these Indians were ripping people off, just like they rip Microsoft off for so much. Hope they die in hell over this shit, why can't they set up a usenet server and become millionaires?

Fraudulent magazine sales
Discover Enterprises has been sending us magazines that we did not subscribe to, and have been demanding that we pay in full immediately. We get harassing phone calls from them on a daily basis. We have already been turned over to a collection agency, which, conveniently is also run by Discover Enterprises. We have asked them to cancel our subscriptions, but they will do so only if we pay in full. Representatives of the company are rude and threatening. Avoid these criminals at all costs!

Scam and cheating
I received a call from this company stating that my credit card had been used by accident to sign up for some promotions offered by their company. This agent, Arron Butler, claimed he was a supervisor and was giving me a courtesy call in order to get the charges stopped before they reached my account. He told me it gets hectic in this telemarketing environment and the agent that was at fault was to go back into training. As a token of their apology for this inconvenience, they were to send me a letter along with several gift cards.

What ended up happening was that I got tricked into enrolling into these programs myself. He told me I needed to verify that I wanted to cancel, when in fact I was signing up. They only recorded portions of the conversation, not all of the fraudulent things he said to mislead me. After I did not receive a letter or gift cards, I spoke with my bank to see if I had any charges. I did not know how there could be since I never gave them my credit card number. Somehow this person had my name, phone number and credit card number without me giving him any of it.

I then received the membership packages in the mail, which I called and canceled immediately, however I was told I could not recover the shipping and handling charges. I spoke with someone at the company and told them of the deplorable actions of their employee Arron Butler. The agent I spoke with had received other calls about him and he was reported to management. But she was afraid I could not get those charges credited back to me.

BE AWARE of this company, do not even listen if they call you. If they are employing people like Arron Butler they must be criminals. He probably learned this sales technique from this company.
