Don't use or download
I made the mistake two years ago of downloading cyberdefender. I ended up purchasing the software security system after I downloaded it. The software never worked properly. I called their support system and was told that I would need to pay 200.00 for the company to run various software programs to fix my computer. After I paid this amount the computer still didn't function properly. I eventually had a professional computer technician come to my house and fix my computer of the virus. He also recommended I start using another security system which I did.
I recently was checking my credit card and noticed Cyberdefender had debited another 199.99 out of my account. I never authorized this transaction. I called the company and complained but have not seen any refund to my credit card.

activates malicious virus
These Cybercriminals may activate a malicious programe inside the Web browser. Then, they sell worthless anti-virus protection. I fell for it...purchased the software and nothing got better. I contacted my IT person who cleared my system of the virus ( I hope). I cancelled my credit card. The next day I opened an email from cyberdefenders on my laptop and sure enough it happened again. I was told I had a virus warning. These guys are criminal and should be prosecuted. I send an email to the FBI complaining about these bizarre business practices...contaminate and then sell .

ripoff
Computer was running slow so I thought I'd download cyberdefender. The first scam was when you pay for the service, which I did they have you call and then send you to a "level two" help desk at which time the assistant tries to load the service on your computer. Oh no your computer is so corrupted you really need to sign up for their technical service for a mere $389.00 for 2 years. After accusing them of trying to scam me I demanded a full refund and he offered me a $25 refund on my card and he would send me 2 $25 gift cards. Not quite the $89 I'd spent. I said no (should have stopped there) and he sent me to customer service where a very nice young lady got the service started on my computer. Well once I cleaned up everything that was on my computer using the program, which it did my computer ran slower then ever and I just uninstalled all the cyberdefender programs and now I can actually use my computer again. DON"T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

can't uninstall
I installed and paid for CyberDefender. I than realized it was malware and tried to cancel my purchase the same day.The person on the phone suddenly couldn't hear me after I said I wanted to cancel. It took two more calls to finally get someone. I was cut off on the second call and waited forever for the third. Finally someone told me it will be canceled and I was sent an email verifying this. Now I'm reading I will probably have to change my card because they give out your info. Also, I can't uninstall this malware and my computer has lost the "system restore" ability and won't shut down after I run antispyware. What a bunch of crooks. Now I'm really worried about identity theft and what is going to happen to my computer. Thanks Cyber Defender. I will contact the Better Business Bureau ASAP.

Rip off - Fake virus Protector
I purchased this rip off comapany's "Registry Cleaner" and "Early Detection Center" in Spet., 2009. I got a virus and guess what? Cyberdefender wanted to charge me $149 to clean it up. I went to McAfee and the technician did a "taskmaster" and cleaned it up for nothing.
DON'T USE CYBERDEFENDER, DON'T BUY IT AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHOULD BE LOOKING IN TO THIS FAKE OPERATING, RIP OFF CO. FOR LEGAL IMPLICATIONS AND CHARGES!
It is very difficult to get them off your computer once they...and I belive they send the virus to your computer...tell you you have a virus and the computer needs cleaning up...they won't go away. I'm sending a complaint to the Attorney, State of california and see if we can get an investigation going. I WANT MY $44.96 BACK.

SCAM and illegal practices
Cyberdefender operates by threatening and abusing customers over the phone., If you call to inquire about the product, they will end up getting your credit card (since they say they cannot answer questions w/o a valid cc) however, they assure you that it will not be used for charges. Before you know it, they sign you up for a $269 program that you dfo NOT need. Their techs barely speak English, they are at the most an entry level tech that has to be looking at books and searching the net. You can actualy hear them do that. As most Middle Eastern or Indu businessmen, they allways answer you "NO PROBLEM, SIR" I am siock of hearing that when they do not know what they are doing.
In addition, my CC ws charged multiple timers. Cyberdefender declined to reimburse my money. However, I had everything documented, contacted my CC company and they ruled in my favor and refunded my money.
More persons need to complain and send emails on a regular basis to them and to the FTC (Federal Trade Comission) in order to shut them down.
They are ripoff artists with no scruples. All they care is to take your money.
Regarding the software...BEWARE. The software is infected and it creates regular problems in order for you to contact them. Once you do that they steal information from your computer. If you should have a remote session with them, be sure to monitor it, and if you notice something that you do not trust. DISCONNECT them from your computer. They are physhing for accounts and pertinent info that can help them make more money.
For those that cannot uninstal cyberdefender. I will post a way to delete it. I forgoy how I did it since it was a long time ago. I wrote this because they have thenerves to contact me and try to sell me the product.
I do not need sucj product.
My wife was suckered into buying it. I am partner in one of the larges RMS (remote monitoring services) and we take care of over 3500 large corporations. What Cyberdefender does is illegal, it is a SCAM and they should be stoped.
They operate out of India, but their corporate HQ are based out of California.
I do know that previous versions of CyberDefender were known to the virus community as being malicious.
If you can, cancell your contract with them. It is not worth it to risk your computer.
Be aware, they are a MAJOR SCAM. If these were the 20's, they would qualify as a GANGSTER organization.
Lets all try to bring them DOWN, They do not deserve anybodys business.
Write your local DA and let them know what they are and what they are doing. If all of us do that, I am sure we will be able to terminate them.
Please, get organized and lets do everything LEGAL within our power to STOP THEM.

scammed
I purchased Cyberdefender a couple of weeks ago. I have recently had trouble with my computer, and I thought this was a good purchase. Last night I had a ghostly rabit cross my screen twice so I called Cyberdefender. Their tech took control of my computer and showed me a screen that was filled with errors. After looking at this screen he told me that I probably have a virus, and he really wanted to help me but that wasn't included in the basic package that I purchased. If I would pay $249 for an upgrade he could fix it. I have already fixed it myself after looking for help elsewhere. Cyberdefender did not catch ANYTHING on my computer, though I have logs from other applications showing that they removed 2 trojans, 2hijackers, and a host of "PUPS". I'm not sure if I should keep it on my computer or not. Sure would have liked to have gotten what I believed I had Purchased.
