CR England Reviews

Scam
My wife and I went to their Utah training facilty in december of 2008 to get our CDL licenses and lease a tractor from their lease program. They are professional scam artists... They make millions off thier students and more from the lease program, that is how these shitbirds make thier revenue... they dont make money as a trucking company, most of the drivers driving for them are getting so ripped off that they quit and go to enougher trucking company to make money to pay for the costs of the CR Englands programs. They will take take take and perpously leave you stranded 3000 miles from home with no money. They have no loads... who would hire a trucking company with pissed off drivers???? that would drop off their merchandise where ever when the drivers figure out how bad CR England is ripping them off..:.

Save your self the hasle and go to a truck driving school to get your CDL, The job connect and US goverment has programs that pay 100% of the cost of the training;. if you can not afford it your self|. We did just that and the Goverment paid $1700, .00 a piece to go to the nearest driving school in our city'. CR England wanted $6000..00 plus intrest to get a CDL licence?. We told them to stick it where the sun dont shine the second day we were there.

They misrepresented themselves
C.R.England's focal point is to enhance the monetary gain of it's trainers. With as little as 30 days experience, you can become a phase 1 trainer. This means, that an 80, 000 pound rig is motoring down the same freeways and streets that your family uses, with a driver or drivers who could conceivably have no more than 60 days experience, combined. Unsafe at any speed. If you are a company driver, who will only be used for the "short hop" loads the lessor's do not want. You will starve. The company is guilty of unfair business practices. The company is guilty of "bait and switch", telling drivers they will get more miles with a leased truck. When you lease a truck from them, you get someone else's problem truck. I counted 46 trucks in their leasing yard. It told me a lot of folks were defaulting on their leases. Why? They were either being raped for the shop repairs, or they weren't making any money. At any rate, in their minds it was cheaper and better for them to turn the truck in, than to continue on this pipe dream invented by the trucking company and it's employees. And if you are thinking of becoming a company driver, C.R.England dosen't want company drivers. You will be shuffled around, and you still won't get your own truck. One man I talked to was with them for 4 months, no truck. Every rumor, like 3 people in one truck, crappy paychecks, (he had 1 good one), not being able to truck in the 11 western, 6 days with no showers, for instance, happened to this guy. He was from PHX, and he almost went broke being stuck on Hershey "short hops" out of PA. So he decided to team, and they could never connect him and his buddy, who at the time was stuck on the "short hops" around Hershey. At this point he was at the terminal for a week in SLC waiting for them to connect him with his buddy. Finally, he asked to wait at home in PHX, and said he had never seen anyone so willing to send a driver home in his life. The two of them were talking on the phone and the final verdict was, "They want us both to quit." Do yourself a favor. Cross England, Werner, and Swift off your list. The smaller the driver pool is, the better deal you will get. At least these smaller companies treat their drivers with some respect. At the big 3 companies, it's all about herding them through the turnstile. What else could explain 137% turnover at England?

Hungry, tired used and abused employees students
CR England, What a joke, just a money mill and they do not care or give a crap about their drivers, they did over half a billion dollars of revenue last year and their drivers are barely making a living. those that lease, work a week, seven days over the road, dangeours work, away from home 7 days and hten get stuck with a bill for 50 -100 dollars or more. Imagine working 7 dangerous days away from home, then getting a bill for your service! They own the leasing company, so they make money off your truck lease and your service, while you barely earn enuff to make a living!
The school is just a money mill, they do not give people enough time to learn the material, basically setting you up for failure while they make the 2, 900 dollars off your schooling, which is not schooling at all. They just give you materials to read and study and barely time to read and study. Your first red flag should be if they leave you little time after they call you to come attend the school. There is no way you can learn all the information in one day to pass your cdl test. I studied before i got there and did pass the tests only to get attacked/assaulted by a crazy animal roomate and kicked out of the school for fighting and "I did absolutely nothing but go to the office at the hotel and report the crime." The hotel is a dump, fleas everywhere even under your sheets at night, microwaves don't work, heat/air don't work and nobody cares, they act like they care but they do not. They told me I would be in a new hotel and they set me up in that dump, The American Suites Inn. The only have one bus and 2 vans to get you from class and to walmart so there is never enough room for everyone to get on, Which means you wake up at 4 after 4 hours sleep, only to miss the bus through no fault of your own and sit around for another hour to an hour and a half waiting for the bus to return, you are sleeping about 4-5 hours a night, 12 hours of class a day, then you will miss the bus to get home after class if you don't push your way to the front and they never run the 2 vans, you do get to see them sitting there in the parking lot. Then the director A-o-io will talk like he cares but trust me he is a power monger and does not give a crap, all they are doing is farming people and making money off you and your hard work, assuming you can make it through the living hell they routinely and continually subject you to!
There were about 75 people in my class and they talk to you and treat you like crap. They have so many new hires, way more than they could possbily employ and those that they do, they do not have enough trucks for, so what they are really doing, is trying to lease you a truck so they can make money off your work and the truck lease! All while you barely make enough to pay your bills, truck payment, insurance and gas, after 7 days hard and dangerous work over the road! Not worth any of the crap or torture they subject you too. I heard stories of trainers trying to get trainees to drive more hours than legally allowable per DOT regulations by driving signed in on the electronic log under the trainers name, and if you get pulled over while driving under theior name, you have comited the crime not them!
The entire company is crap, the people are crap, to include the goofy trainers and none of them give a crap about you. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them as far as you can, I could go on and on complaining about the inhumane treatment. Like the fact that new bodies come through the doors every week. So many new hires (trainees) that they could not hire them all if they wanted to.
Do not even think about joining that organization, you will regret it! and if you do, they won't pay you fair compensation for your hard work. .12 cnets a mile for team driving? Hello, that is 550 - 650 for 7 dangerous days out on the road for less than 100 a day! just say hell no, you won't go because I can guarantee, you will regret it.
Good GOD CR England and all of their money grubbing human farming are nothing more than feces, using and abusing "people" for their own persoanl gain and profit! Don;t believe me? Go and see for yourself, then come back and confirm that everything I said is true. Those not complaining or saying good things are either lying or desperate enough in the tough economy to have anything to occpuy their time!
They even told us point blank, that they do not have enough trucks to hiore all the people they hire. All they want you to do, is be on the hook for a truck lease so you have to stay on and struggle to make your payment and insurance. The director A-o-io is just an arrogant power hungry jerk hell bent on overseeing their people farm like Stalin of Hitler, ruling "nothing" with an iron fist. And all the other people talk down tpo you, like you are not important and making clear that they do not care or give a crap abpout you. Like I said, i could go on and on, do yourself a favor and find yourself a real job, because CR England is not it!

illegal acts
When I first applied to this so called company, I was assured that I was going to have a company driver position, not knowing that they do not hire company drivers anymore. I did not know this until after I quit. They are complete liars, after I finished my schooling that is when they pushed and pushed and pushed for me to lease, telling me over and over at how this would be the best for me, meanwhile it was all lies, they were only telling me this crap because they knew they were not hiring company drivers, they just wanted to scam another person into hauling they're freight for free. So I became one of these poor pathetic gullable lease drivers for them. I worked my ass off and in 4 weeks recieved a check for 19.oo and they told me to eat at McDonalds when I confronted them about this. They have absolutely refused to give me any kind of a printout or paystub of any kind to show where all my funds were being distributed. They told me in the beginning that I could have my own accountant or use theirs, and assured me that theirs would be better because it was free, yet another lie, so I went with theirs. They said that their accountants would pay all the taxes and everything, not to worry. Well, after all this and no pay, I received a 1099- misc form in the mail for my taxes and they said they paid me 6091.00 and no taxes deducted, that was all that was on the form, I don't know what they are thinking, I only recieved 19.00, how can they get away with this shit? Who are they paying off?

Inadequate training, recruiters who lie, broke drivers
I have a cdl from previous trucking, but was out of driving for about three years. I contacted CR England for a job and was told by the recruiter that I would be hired but needed to take a refresher course to insure I could still drive and update on any laws, log books, etc. I was told the course I would be attending would only cost me $100.00 and it would be 1 week long, then on a truck with a trainer for a week longer. I arrived in Salt Lake City and was told no room in the facility that I would be bussed to a motel and would have to bring all my luggage back each moring. I had about 50 pounds worth of canned food since they did not provide meals. I was placed in the hotel (on a Sunday) and had to stay there for 3 days before they found me a room with 7 other guys, all sleeping on very wobbly bunk beds. The same type my young children have. When I arrived on Monday, I was told I would be attending a 2 week course, then out over the road for 2 to 3 months with a trainer, (no home time unless they happen to have a delivery in the town I live in), and I would have to lease a truck since they have more drivers than trucks. I went to training as usual, and watched as a class of over 100 people began to dwindle down due to various reasons..birth certificate was ripped, recruiter didn't get all previous job references (which I thought was something they should have had completed before telling you that you were hired), etc. In class instruction was just fine, but then we went to the backing range and learned to back with the help of students, not instructors and before we even learned to go forward. Me having driving experience was able to assist my fellow students. After 1 1/2 weeks, I said screw it and left. I met several friends I keep in touch with on a weekly basis who graduated and got their CDL's with CR Englands help. 1st friend, leased a truck and got into a wreck, not his fault. Instead of England giving him another truck while his was being fixed, he sat around for several weeks. Finally back on the road he was dispatched to a trailer left abandoned at a truck stop and got 70 miles down the road and was pulled over and arrested. He was told the trailer was stolen, even though the Qual Com had him dispatched to it. 2nd friends (a couple) leased a truck together and team drive. In 4 months they received their tax statement stating they made $30, 000, but have only banked $4, 000. England has received the $26, 000 for their money. 3rd friend, got broke and went elsewhere. His highest paycheck was $500 and only once. And get this, he became a trainer after a month! 4th friend was told to come back to Salt Lake City for his "upgrade" because he refused to lease a truck, but England would not send him via Greyhound, but instead wanted him to hop trucks headed that way. He was fired for a log violation during his attempt to return, and was never behind the wheel since he was trying to get back to the facility. I was fortunate enough to get a local driving job and have made more working hourly delivering farm commodities than my friends who are doing OTR driving. Please take it from me and my friend's experiences and do not go to CR England. This was August 2010. When I asked my recruiter about all of the negative publicity with England, he stated that they have made improvements and are driver oriented. Not.

Big Fat Liars Scam Artists & So On
My husband unfortunately just wasted $400 & 5 days going to Gary Indiana from NJ to take the 3 day orientation. He is an experienced driver not taking their schooling, etc. He spent 6 hours waiting for a shuttle to pick him & 75 others up at the bus terminal, after being on the bus almost 21 hours. Then they took them to the terminal & not their hotel & had these tired men filling out paperwork. My husband's roommate got let go & they moved my husband to another room. Only to find out this poor guy just quit CR England because he has not been home in 5 MONTHS!!! They badger these guys to lease, etc. They don't reimburse you for your meals while you're there & you do not get paid while attending orientation. They also do not tell you this information until you arrive there. If you should decide to go home, that cost is all your responsibility. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THESE LOWLIFES AS POSSIBLE. You could lose everything & end up being poorer than you are to begin with.

Liars and Scammers
My father got employed with CR England back in Jun 2010, and it's been hell ever since with these people. Basically it started with a huge amount of lies and misleading information provided by Ryan Johnson, a driver manager for CR England in Utah. My mom was flying in for 3 months from Europe, and dad asked for 3 weeks off around begining of Oct or end of Sep, and they said no probelm...of course come that time, they said they couldnt do that, they gave him 3 days instead, and that messed everything up for me because i bought specific tickets for my mom, now i had to send her back to California where my dad lived so they can see each other for 3 days, a huge financial and family mess. Then, of course comes the money issue, he wasnt making crap with them, i constantly had to send him money for food and rent, basically so he can survive, and back in Nov he put his paperwoks to quit, and he was supposed to get a load back to Utah to drop off the truck and quit the company. Well it's Dec 22 now, and they keep sneding him back east and to Texas, and back east again, with ho intent from the company to send him to Utah and drop off the truck. They are a piece of crap, they are keeping him on the road to milk whatever they can out of him, and in the meanwhile, they keep telling him "we are working on it"...supposedly working on sending him back to Utah...well, today, Dec 22 they gave him another load back east. Needles to say he quit and the truck has been turned in to the CR England yard in Laredo. These people have no soul, they are scammers and liars, they dont understand when you treat a person like that, it affects his or her entire family and friends, and creating a whole set of issues for everyone, just so they can keep making money.

Bait and switch
I submitted an online application for employment on the C.R. England (CRE) website on May 16, 2009. I was contacted by Jennifer Skinner, Senior Recruiter, with a job offer on June 11, 2009. This offer included: (1) employment after completion of four days of orientation, and (2) ten days of driving with a trainer. I accepted the offer. She offered Greyhound bus transportation to their facility in Salt Lake City, UT. I opted to fly since the departure date was on Fathers Day and it was a 9½-hour bus ride from Reno to Salt Lake City. She said that CRE would reimburse me $100 of the plane fare.

I arrived in SLC on the afternoon of June 21st. The next day, Monday, I began their orientation. That afternoon I was called back into the recruiting office with the news that there was “a problem with my paperwork”. There, I was told that my driving experience was inadequate and that I’d have to attend their school for three weeks (the cost would be deducted from my future pay) and that I would have to spend 30 days on the road with a trainer (at a reduced rate of pay). (I’d had my CDL-A for four years). I refused and said that that wasn’t what Jennifer and I had agreed upon before I left Reno. I was met with silence and a stare.

Once back in my quarters, I called Jennifer and left a message that I was awaiting her direction as how I was to be getting back home. There was never a response from her so I made the arrangements for my return for the next day, June 23rd.

Once back in Reno, I emailed Jennifer and asked what arrangements I could make for CRE to reimburse me for the money I had spent. I heard back from her on the 24th. She stated, “I guess our compliance department saw your experience different than I did.” She also asked that I send her the plane receipts for my travel and she’d see what she could do. (I emailed those to her on the 25th.) Later, she wrote, “…we reimburse for travel once an applicant is hired, so I will see if I can get an exception made.” This reimbursement policy was never discussed beforehand.

I have not heard from her since. My last email was on a July 14th, in which I said that I had not heard from her.

I contend that CRE violated a verbal contract made between myself and their Senior Recruiter. I feel that they have a well-rehearsed ploy to get prospective employees to SLC and then, once there, change their offer of employment for financial gain. Once I refused their amended offer for additional schooling and training, I, and my former training and experience, were set aside and ignored. It was obvious to me that once I was no longer a source of monetary gain, I was on my own.

Since, I’ve spoken to other drivers and they’ve said that CRE “is good for that”. “They get you there and tell you have to go through their program if you want the job. It’s hard to refuse because you’re already there and you don’t want to leave and start over.”

After not hearing from them for a month or more I contacted a lawyer with my story. He said that he’d heard about this problem with C.R. England before. He said that what they are doing is called “bait and switch”. And, the best way to approach the problem is with a civil lawsuit. Anyone interested?

Unethical
Guess Many have learned that ENGLAND stands for Every New Guy Lasts About Ninety Days.

The way the Pay and Lease programs are structured, the company gets the work done, their trucks and fuel paid for by you and YOU get nothing!!! Unless you consider $100.65 for 2500 miles of driving a good pay!!!

Obama could use this program as a weight loss program by requiring overweight people to work for CR England!!! The entire family would be homeless and lose weight at the same time...Good benefits...HUH?
TNA August 21, 2010
Overall terrible employers and here's why.
My boyfriend was just hired on with CRE in July of 2010. It has been nothing but hell ever since. He went to the school in Salt Lake City, and with previous driving history he was told that he would only have to attend the orientation and would then be placed on a truck with his phase II trainer. He liked his trainer as an individual person but didn't really feel that he was being taught anything; he felt that his trainer saw this as an opportunity to nap. In fact, he and the trainer both earned a MAJOR log violation because of an oversight on his trainer's part. We decided that the best course of action was for him to become an O/O for CRE and to lease a truck. WOW!! Was that the wrong decision. His first week out, he drove 2713 miles and his check is a whopping $253.72. We knew going into it that there would be fees and fuel charges that we would be assessing by choosing the O/O option, we just didn't know the extent to which we would be charged. Today is day 3 (!!) that he's been sitting in a yard in Texas. He is burning fuel (that we'll be charged for while he's sitting there not making any money) and has no next dispatch. His DM gave him a load to Jacksonville, FL (30 minutes from home) and then took it away with no explanation. He delivered his load to Texas on Friday at 0800 and was told that his next dispatch would come shortly. It never came. He messaged the DM AND the after hours employees to no avail. His DM went home to his family for the weekend and left his employee sitting at a loading dock in TX with no next dispatch. I am TERRIFIED that this is indicative of the most we can expect from CRE. We are absolutely disgusted with this company and come Monday morning they will probably have lost another driver. He is a hard worker who just wants to make money and provide for his family - but will not tolerate abuse by his employer. I researched this company before he signed the lease and I warned him of all the negative things I'd found. He believed in his heart that he was being told the truth by his trainers at orientation and felt that if he worked hard and proved himself to be a good employee, that he would be taken care of by CRE. Unfortunately he was wrong. I thought it was strange, also that at his orientation the trainers told all the new employees that the truck drivers that were at the office were either in trouble, or they were lazy and didn't want to work - is this any way to speak of your employees?? This company has gotten one over on too many people - I would advise anyone to stay away from CR England.
