They were the typical storm chasers. We live in Colorado where there is a lot of hail in the spring time. We noticed our roof leaking after one hail storm. Covenant Builders came knocking on the door to see if they could do a roof inspection. (big red flag there) They had us sign "an estimate" but was really a contract. Even though it was blank, (another red flag) it was still a legal binding contract. We were told it wasn't binding (another red flag - verbal agreements aren't valid). We got other "bids" with the full understanding that what we signed was an estimate. We decided to go with another company for the roof and they came back at us that we owed them 25% of the contract. Even though no numbers were put into the contract. Then they threatened us with mechanics lien on our house. They were also going to send someone to our house to pick up the check. Wouldn't they bill us? We did everything that consumer protection websites tell you not to do. This is just to warn people that these guys are unethical and unscrupulous. Technically not illegal, though.
