Wrongfully applying payments!
We had our first loan with Countrywide in 2006. We paid our first payment in October, in 2 installments. Both installments arrived close to the 1st of the month and before the 15th. Our next payment, due in November was paid the same way. However, Countrywide applied the payment to our escrow account and not to principal and interest. For starters, this action breached the mortgage agreement we had with Countrywide. Then, Countrywide reported us late to the credit bureaus. We contacted them, and after several conversations, they agreed to contact the credit bureaus and correct the problem. Countrywide never followed up on the request to the credit bureaus. I had to contact the credit bureaus myself and get the job done.

After all of this, we actually ended up with another loan with Countrywide. As a result of the refinancing our home, one of our lenders sold our new mortgage to Countrywide. All of our payments were made on time, from January 2007 to May 2007. during that time, we were informed by Countrywide that they had allowed our identities to be stolen by one of their employees.

We had other problems with them, and when we had a financial issue because my wife, who is a teacher, did not receive a check for 3 months, we asked Countrywide to put those months on the back of the loan, and let us start our payments in September 2007, when my wife would get a check(my income is used for all other bills).

Countrywide, after all that they had done to us, denied our request and have put us into foreclosure. We will re-instate our loan, but it never had to come to this.

We are currently suing Countrywide for Breach of Contract, and violating our rights under the fair credit reporting act.

Credit inquiries!
My complaint is a relatively minor one but it could result in a negative impact on my credit score. On 12/04/07 I spoke to 2 different Countrywide reps about POSSIBLY refinancing my existing 1st and second mortgages. I explicitly asked that no formal credit inquiry be initiated until my wife and I discussed the pros and cons of a new mortgage. Both reps agreed: one named Dina and the other, Miles. I have their last names and phone numbers in my notes. Since that time (3 days)I have rec'd 3 alerts from my credit reporting service about inquiries from Countrywide and Landsafe. As is evident from the web site, Landsafe and Countrywide have a direct relationship. It strikes me as a shabby way to do business but I suppose it is to be expected from today's breed of lenders. Needless to say, I do not expect to do business with Countrywide any time soon. Obviously, the powers that be won't lose too much sleep over the loss of a $225,000 mortgage. Why am I not surprised...

Appraiser I want independent appraiser NOT one owned by Countrywide!
I applied for a second mortgage with Countrywide due to being solicited by them as pre-approved/ no closing costs. I was approved immediately then told the no closing cost loan was at a much higher interest than I was being given. I was also told I had to have a new appraisal even though the last one done by countrywide was 13 months old. They told me they would order the appraisal which they did. However I ask then to use a local appraisal company and they told me they used LANDSAFE which is OWNED by country wide! The guy came and was not here 10 minutes total. The appraisal came back MUCH lower than my appraisals form even 5 years ago and 30,000 less than last year ( 20,000 less than one done by COUNTRYWIDE's own Landsafe!) I immediately called them and told them I wanted a re consideration and had the local real estate company do a cost comparison for a 1 mile radius of my house it came back 17500 more than the countrywide. They loan officer I am using told his supervisor and gave him 2 appraisals from Aug 2006 and 2005 and the comparison form the real estate company the supervisor agreed that the new 2007 appraisal was way off and sent it to the department for reconsideration. I was then called and told that countrywide had ordered the appraisal they had done in 2006 to compare then I was called and told that they would not re consider the appraisal amount. I just had a realtor's here to tell me what I should list my house for even in todays "bad market" and was told 195000.00. My complaint is: I believe that it is a conflict of interest for the mortgage company to OWN the Appraisal company I want my house appraised by a certified appraiser that is used by many Mortgage companies and I feel Countrywide Stole my 400.00 for the appraisal and I want my 400 refunded to me. I can get a loan else where. But their appraiser didn't even measure he went by courthouse measurement s which if he would measure he would have a totally different number I know this because I have measured and I have had my house refinances and had several appraisers here. Countrywide is first lying to get people to apply for their "NO CLOSING COST LOAN" which turns out to be a high interest loan and then steals money to have their appraisal company appraise houses. I know for sure any other appraiser would have appraised my house for 20000 or more higher.

Poor service!
My mortgage was sold to CountryWide and at first everything was great but over time it has gotten worse and worse. Latley now its just all bad I hate them I wish they never bought my mortgage and might even consider refinancing just to get away from them! They continued to add more and more fees to pay online, and if you don't pay by the 1st you are forced to answer questions as to why I'm delinquent even though I'm a great customer have never been late more or less 30 days delinquent! They have basically done away with the GRACE PERIOD it is now the DELINQUENT PERIOD now thats not in my mortgage! Also I never had a problem with my escrow until CountryWide, they have continued to raise my escrow payment yet my taxes and home owners didn't go up (makes no sense), paid my home owners twice (makes no sense) and then wanted me to pay the shortage, now my taxes went down but escrow didn't and they actual claim its short and want me to pay extra to it every month (makes no sense), I asked them to release it to me they gave me the excuse that it was in my mortgage, I think not!

4 months & no to refinancing!
After putting 20% down on my home I got a adjusted mortgage & a prepenalty. I couldn't refinance until May 07. I now find out that shouldn't have happened, because I put a lot of money down. I started my refinance process in May with CountryWide. They kept my refinance going for 4 months and ran my credit down almost 100% and decide they couldn't do it. Now I'm trying again, but having a hard time because all the banks are closing, my credit lower and my income is not enough. Instead of the 6% and a pay out I was being offered 3 - 4 months ago, its now 10% with pay out or no pay out, and a lower interest rate. Instead of my credit being 720 when I started it is now 620. Who runs your credit 19 times in 4 months, Countrywide did. If I don't get thru this in the next month, I will find myself foreclosing. In my case Countrywide is responsible and they're suppose to be my mortgage company. I thought who better to turn to. What do I do now? I tried the steps to avoid foreclosure and was screwed instead. All that 0% down is false advertising.

Horrible customer service!
I attempted to get a refinance mortgage from CountryWide recently but was very unhappy with their "customer service". After the initial contact and them collecting my personal financial information, 2 months went by with no word from the "mortgage broker". When I attempted to call and e-mail, it took several tries to get a response, and the response that I did get implied that I was bothering the mortgage broker. My application was finally completed almost 6 months after I had initially contacted the company, and then it was mailed to my house without my knowledge and my entire financial history sat on my front porch for a day, unbeknownst to me since they had failed to communicate that they would be mailing the application. This is how they "safeguard" your private information. If someone had picked up the application they would know where I bank, my credit card numbers, my social security #, where I work, etc, etc. I was just expected to sign the application and send it back, again with no explanation of the process and no service provided whatsoever. I didn't sign it, due to the horrible service I received and the facts that the amounts were incorrect. These mortgage brokers make a huge commission on these loans, and I don't think it was unreasonable to expect some service in return. Let me mention that I have excellent credit and a very stable work history so to be treated so poorly made a huge impression on me, and not a good one. I was subsequently referred to a true mortgage broker whose definition of customer service more closely matches mine, and had my refi in my hand in 8 days, with no distress or implication that I am not credit worthy. I will never again do business with Countrywide.

Fraud and scam!
I went through Lending Tree to secure quotes on a loan. Countrywide came in the lowest. They guaranteed they could close my loan. I eliminated all of the other companies who wanted to finance my home. Countrywide took $300 from me to secure the loan and lock in the interest rate. Two and one half months have passed and they have yet to close my lone. The loan officer Hiep Hoang lies every time I call and claims he will call back but never does. The interest rates have risen while I have been waiting on Countrywide. They claimed a bogus appraisal appraised my house half of what I purchased it for although it is in a booming area. Countrywide is running a fraudulent scam.

No HUD tags
We bought our place 5 years ago and our contract was sold to Countrywide. We tried getting refinancing through them but was denied because someone had removed the HUD tags on the back of manufactured home. When the appraiser came out he told us that if we get an affidavit of a fixture that it should be enough but per Countrywide it wasn't. My question is: If we decide to sell the home our we going to be able to do so or our we going to be denied it because of the tags? Or is this something that is done in Arizona?

Thank you.
