Refund not received
In November 2010, I paid for a year of phone service for my son in prison. He was released and I made an initial request in January 2011 to have a refund for the remaining amount to be sent to my account. I was told that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for this refund to be processed. After several months, I contacted the company to find out why I had not received my refund. I was told that another request would be sent to their billing department for my refund. After another 4 to 6 weeks, I contact this company again. I spoke with a supervisor, Jason, who said he would check into it and call me back that afternoon. I never heard from Jason. I called again and spoke with Adam. He said he would put in another request and since I had spoken with Jason, that he would have Jason call me. When I had not heard from Jason by late afternoon, I called again. I spoke with Eric who told me Jason was off that day. I asked to speak with another supervisor. He said Jason and Tara were the only two supervisors and that Tara would be in the next morning and Jason would be in the next afternoon. Today I called to speak with Tara and was told she was off this morning. I was told, again, that Jason will be in this afternoon at 4:00 Eastern.
I will call again to speak with Jason. However, every time I call, I receive the same response. My request for a refund was made over 5 months ago and still, no one can tell me what the problem is. The only response I ever get is that another request to the billing department will be made and that i need to speak to a supervisor. I am getting nowhere with this company. I have paid for several years to have this service but now that I no longer need them, I am treated like this...it is shameful!

offering a service that they know TDCJ won't approve
I signed up with these people in December because they told me they were approved by TDCJ and could provide me a local number to receive calls from my incarcerated loved one. I immediately tried to register the number they assigned me, but it wasn't approved. After 8 weeks, I was told to do a manual registration and send a copy of my phone bill. I waited another 2 weeks, then called to see why I still was not approved to receive calls. I was told by the operator at the official telephone approval line (866-806-7804) that it had not been approved and would not be approved because TDCJ no longer permitted use of that company. When I called to cancel the account, I requested a refund since I've paid for 3 months' worth of service that I cannot and would not ever get to use. I was told that I would not get a refund because I was "buying a line (sic) given me by someone who doesn't want to lose profits." In other words, the representative for ConsCall Home, Anthony x 511, told me that I was being lied to by the person from TDCJ's phone approval line. When I told him, "No, I was told that they NO LONGER allow use of that company;" he responded by saying, "Look, when you stop calling me a liar, since you're such an expert, maybe I can explain this to you." He was extremely rude and treated me like I'm stupid and when I got upset, he spent probably 20 minutes telling me about how I wasn't listening to him and if I would "just calm down" he might be able to help me. I was crying, but I was very calm until he continually talked over me and belittled me and essentially told me I was being played by TDC. I asked him to speak to a supervisor and he told me there were no supervisors available in the entire building until 4pm and I would have to call back. When I questioned that (because yes, I do believe he was lying about that), he said, "Look, since you're calling me a liar about everything I'm trying to tell you, I'm not goling to discuss this matter with you anymore. Is there anything ELSE I can assist you with (in an extremely rude, snotty tone of voice)?" I tried to get him to talk to me about my account and he kept repeating that same thing in the same snotty tone, so I finally lost my temper (I had been crying, but not angry up to that point) and said, "yes you can kiss my ass and go to hell." and I terminated the call.
I shouldn't have lost my temper, but after being told by TDC that they will never register my conscallhome number AND that I can't get my money back despite not getting any service for my money AND being treated in a rude and demeaning manner by the "customer service representative" AND being lied to about a supervisor being present? I was more than a little angry. I wasted my money for 3 months and received nothing for it but rudeness and grief; I feel like I've been victimized twice- once by ConsCallHome and once by TDC- the difference is that TDC didn't charge me $20.00/month to screw me and ConsCallHome did. I want my money back- I'm going to need it to pay the usurous phone fees charged by Embarq. And I haven't seen or spoken to my husband since December 8th, so yeah, I want my (long distance to the jail) phone registered like yesterday.
