Awful company
I am a citifinancial customer in good standing. When I would go in to make my payment I would ask the girl what other loans were available. Unbeknownst to me she ran my credit 5 times lowering my score for no reason. One time I specifically said "do not run my credit unless I am interested" and she still ran it. Very inconsiderate and illegal and damaging to my credit score. This was at the Saugus, CA office. It is not necessary to run a report on someone who is open with you and in good standing unless they say they want another loan (refi or heloc). To this day they insist they could not give me any in for such as a payment unless they ran a credit bureau. I know that not to be so. They could simply give figures and say that is assuming your credit score has not changed since we made you your current loan.

Rip off
On the day of closing on the sale of the house I was buying, the mtg. broker called and said banking laws had changed and I need double the down pymt I had been approved for, and they had it already set up w/Citifinancial-just stop and pick up a check.
The check was for $9500, @ 21% interest, which has been reported to the credit bureaus as $15, 600. I felt I had no choice but to take it at 2 hours before closing- that, or be homeless. I paid a personal visit to branch mgr. Cindy Sandburg, who told me they would reduce my interest rate and lower my payment, then the story changed over and over again. Citifinancial was totally UNWILLING to work with me in any way.
So, my philosophy on that is, if you're in the business of screwing people, and they are, then you deserve to be screwed also. What goes around comes around. Why does this company punish its customers? That makes no sense to me, and I desperately would love to see them investigated for consumer fraud, misrepresentation, loan sharking, extortion, and whatever else could be thought of.
I have never run across a company so willing to financially rape its own customers-do they honestly think that will make them want to do business with them in the future?

Scam charges
Beware of automatic payment system by phone. First you are charged $15 to use it, and when i tried to make my payment on the due date the system kept messing up saying i was putting in an invalid entry when i wasn't even entering anything... Funny huh?!?!.. so on top of that because the system wouldn't take my payment on the due date by phone on a Sunday i had to wait till Monday morning and got an extra $40 late fee... seems like a SCAM to me... BEWARE and pass the word that citifinancial is the WORSE!!!

Fraud and scam
Where do we begin? For starters we had our mortgage through Citifinancial several years ago and didn't like the way they did business (mostly customer service problems) so we moved it to another company. But Citifinancial bought out the company we had moved to so we ended up being forced to do business with them again even though it was against our wishes.
We ended up in financial trouble due to economic loss of employment, and ended up having to file chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2003. Citifinancial was part of the culprit in us having to do this as they would not work with us at all when we were behind, even as far as refusing payments. We were afraid they would try to take our house and thought it best to file chapter 13 to protect it.
Fast forward to 2008--we completed our chapter 13 payments in May and were instructed by the court and lawyers to begin making payments to Citifinancial starting in June. (The court had been making our payments for us while in chpt. 13 and we had no contact with Citifinancial during this time.)
We did make our first payment to Citifinancial in June via phone (on time) but when we finally got a statement from them, the statement showed us to be over $800 delinquent! While attempting to make the July payment (on time), we were forced to wait on hold for almost an hour with numbers we had been given to call, only to have the representatives tell us they could not find our names, social security numbers or account numbers in the system.
We finally got through to a number that could locate us, and they gladly accepted our payment; when we inquired about the delinquent amount on the bill which should not be there, we were told they would look into it and call us back. They never did. So we wait another month and try to make our August payment (on time) via the same number we made the July payment. But this time we were told that they could not accept our payment because our account is in a delinquent status and we had to call another number. Nothing but run-around.
We ended up mailing the August payment via priority mail and have decided that there is no getting anywhere with this company. (This is the second time we have attempted to make a payment with them and they refused it--that is crazy!) Our next step is to contact our chapter 13 office or the lawyers from our case and see if they can get to the bottom of it--we should not have come out of chapter 13 in a delinquent status--the amounts we had gotten behind on from before we filed were taken out first thing, shown on the statement as 'arrears' amounts. It looks to us like they are up to their usually thievery and trying to get every penny they can get their hands on--legal or not.
And one more thing--we also had another real estate account with them which was due to be paid off in June. We sent the payoff amount to them and it was confirmed that they received it on the 13th of June. We have yet to receive our deed or titles or even to hear any word about that account or property.
In our book this company is a company of incompetents and are not fit to do business with the public. If it is possible for us to do so, we intend to get our mortgage out of their hands as soon as possible!

predatory 2nd mtg
Our 1st mtg was predatory 2/99 (they were sued and are out of business) and when we ran into problems with that citifinancial (we had an outstanding debt been refinanced repeatedly) said do a 2nd mtg 11/99. No appraisal, MANDATORY INSURANCE and all to the tune of 18.99 %. We recently found out about the predatory lending laws. But it is too late says our attorney. Our state laws won't let us do anything about it because after 5 years they are under an umbrella so we are sitting here holding the "bag". I Try calling Citifinancial and they say "Not our Problem Ha Ha" Well the joke is on alot of people in this state. I would like to hear from other people in this state who have been victimized by this company refinancing repeatedly and getting away with it.

Stay away
Citifinancial stinks! I paid my mortgage regularly for 15 years, and I just sent in the final payment. Their hoard of telephone harpies harassed me for years, if I was only a few days late. When I paid them on time, they still demanded that I send them a copy of my check from my credit union to prove that they indeed received the money! Screw them, May they suck donkey dicks in ***! May they be at the epicentre of an earthquake. May wildfires devour everyone. And most of all, may no more suckers like myself be lured into getting a mortgage with these idiots.

They treat customers like children
I’m pissed because my car payment was due on June 30th. I came back from a 3 month visit on June 15th. The first thing I did was go to the bank to get a cashiers check for CitiFinancial Auto. I totally forgot to send it, really, I did. But any ways I get a phone call from this Andrea Lopez, I answered it because I was explaining to her it was on its way. I know they've heard all excuses, but really I forgot, my husband is at war, has the first thing on my mind, not a car payment. Well Andrea had the nerve to ask "What are your intentions with the money" I told her "my intentions are to pay you, which I have" She tried to accuse me of using the money for something else. "I told her I didn't forget to get your money, I just forgot to send it out". She also kept talking to me like a child. I understand they deal with people who can’t come trough and have many excuses, but I’m pissed because she had the nerve to accuse me of spending the money. I’m human, and if I forget I forget, I had other things on my mind. It’s not like I didn't have the money and was hiding from them. That’s why I answered the phone. But they have no right to talk to people like they are stupid.

Beware
CitiFinancial Retail Beware of last payment charges and revolving credit that you have not signed or asked for and are being charged by the Day. The interest on my bill is 366.52% on finance charges even if your original bill states NO finance charges. You call and on the bill it tells you that you will still be responsible for the bill till it is resolved, and what if it is not in months, months. On $1.00 at 366.52% can you imagine what it will be? If I find out what can be done I will post.

Bill not paid
I have been a Citi Finacial customer for years! I have recently found out that monies I borrowed from CITI FINANCIAL, to pay off an outstanding VISA bill in the year 2004 in the approx amount of 600.00...was not paid... and to this day no record, is on file, to show that it was! I was advised by my local CITI FINANIAL, that there was a record of a cheque issued, but they were unable to provide me with a number to prove this cheque was actually issued to cover the outstanding debt!! This only leads me to believe that said funds were never paid! And as per records of my financial institute CIBC to this date, no funds were received to cover this outstanding debt ...thus showing that this dept has NEVER been paid, resulting this debt on my credit record to this day...4 years later!!!
In my quest to clear this, I was advised by CITI FINANCIAL, to proceed to EQUIFAX, to process a credit report, as CITI FINANCIAL would not do the search themselves! As was instructed by CITI FINANCIAL I processed a credit report through Equifax, and found out in the process, that the VISA bill for CIBC was never paid. Thus giving me my bad credit rating!! Upon receiving this info, I have found out that this debt has been on my record for the past 4 years!! How could this happen! I trusted CITI FINANCIAL to see that this debt was paid, only to find that to this day, the debt is still outstanding and tarnishing my credit record. I tried very hard to clear up this debt but was very disappointed to see that a financial institute that I trusted for years had let me down! As per instructions given to me by a CITI FINANCIAL representative, I was given a number to clear this...only to be given an endless list of numbers in which each would give me another number! I have now exhausted the numbers given to me to clear this issue, and still no ANSWERS!!! If you would like a list of the numbers I have been provided with and have been non successful. they are as follows:
1 866 244 9275
1 888 638 2274
1 888 638 2274
1 800 263 2374
1 800 995 2274
1 800 922 6235
As you can appreciate as per the numbers above, I have repeatedly tried to fix my financial credit rating with the numbers that I was given, only to get another toll free number that did not help to solve my situation!
To this day, I have yet to have been given a number to clear this debt which was supposedly paid by CITI FINANCIAL...4years ago and I have no where to turn but to complain to the people that I trusted to help fix this matter!!
I trust you will help me to fix this matter and finally clear this matter that has haunted me for months!!
I will look forward to your immediate response to this matter! To further help you in this matter I have provided for you (as below)...info that you will help you in your investigation!!!
Thanking you in advance!!!

Repossession
Like many others we took out a loan with Citifinancial, using our vehicle (which was paid off) for collateral. We were never late on a payment for 1 and 1/2 years. We had some emergencies and missed one payment. Before thirty days were up we dropped two months payment off at the local office, the latter before the due date. A week or so later we got a call from Citifinancial wanting to know where our payment was. We told them it had been dropped of and the representative said they would note the account. The check was probably sent to their office in California and had not been received yet. The check never cleared our bank. We were called by "Tish" the manager and told we could come in and do a deferred payment. We went to the office on a Saturday and gave them another check and signed more papers. While we were in the office we heard two other representatives giving some poor suckers the same song and dance they gave us - "bring the vehicle in and the title and you and your husband need to be present to sign the papers..." They do this, so they can screw up both spouses credit. Our check was presented before our deposit was posted and was returned. We received a letter from them a week later stating we had to pay the returned check plus an nsf fee of 30.00. The next Saturday my husband dropped another payment off for the payment and the fees. Tish called before he even got home and said it was unacceptable, they could not accept a check for a returned check. Before we could even go to the bank and get cash on Monday, Tish left a message on our home recorder (we were at work) saying we had to come in today and take care of this to avoid repossession. She stated we could refinance and not have a payment due for a month. We made an appointment to go in on Tuesday and sign the papers...we walked out to go to work Tuesday morning to find our vehicle gone. A call to their office informed us it had been repossessed. We called too late in the day to get the repossession stopped. We had financial information in that vehicle along with other personal property. Now they are telling us we have to pay them $468, with interest accruing DAILY and pay another $300. for the towing plus $10.00 per day storage fee and will not tell us where the car is until we pay them - CASH. We cannot pay them almost $1000.00 until we get paid. Meantime the fees keep adding up. Called the Citifinancial office to find out if we could get our personal property and Tamara told us she couldn't give us that information but the "people they use are professionals" and proceeded to tell me how they have one vehicle at a certain towing lot, another at another, and still another in another part of town. Doesn't this fall under the Privacy Act? Apparently they are reposing a lot of cars these days. How do they expect us to pay any other bills if they keep piling on charges. We have told them they can keep the vehicle. This company takes huge advantage of working class people in an already struggling economy. I will tell everyone I know to never do business with Citfinancial.
