Unwanted service; fee not clearly revealed
My husband went to "Free" credit report.com and requested a copy of our credit report. They asked for credit card info, saying "valid credit card information is required to establish your account." For the next 7 months we've been charged $14.95 each month for the "Free" credit report service.
We have started a dispute through Discover.

Unauthorized Charges
I did not authorize CIC Triple Advantage to withdraw any money from my account to pay for a credit report that I can't even look at. When I brought this to the attention of my bank and told them the transaction was NOT authorized, they put in a complaint and investigated the transaction and denied my claim. The letter they sent me afterwards states the following:
"Dear Customer:
On September 16, 2008, you contacted Flagstar Bank and indicated the following:
On September 13, 2008, an ATM/Check Card transaction in the amount of $14.95 was performed at Triple Advantage; you stated your account was debited, although you did not authorize this transaction. Based on the merchant's terms and conditions, we are denying your claim.
If you need additional information, blah blah blah...
Thank you for choosing Flagstar Bank."
Thanks for nothing. So now, not only did I not sign up for this, but I am forced to continue to pay for services that I don't even recieve. Something needs to be done about this company.

monthly charge,after cancelling
Triple advantage is taking $14.95 monthly since 07/14/08. I requested a free credit report in July.Then called on 08/30/2008 to cancel the membership, because I didn't call before the 30th they charged me another month. So I did not get a free report. I am going to let people know, how they are scaming everyone. If that isn't bad enough they shared my information with MNICREDITRPT. Now
MNICREDITRPT is taking money from my account. They have withdrawn $12.95 from it for two months now. I would like a refund immediately.

charge for free service?
I went online to check on my boyfriends credit report, we went ot Equifax, and it wanted a credit card to get the 'FREE" credit report. then i had a membership charge on my charge card later on. this means it wasn't 'FREE'

difficulty cancelling membership
Yes I did enroll in the free credit report program with the automatic membership in triple advantage. However, after finding that it was not useful I called to cancel my membership as stated. My first phone call the woman was insistant on my giving her my full social security number. I claimed that was the most obserd thing ever especially in these times. I requested another way of contacting them to cancel and was directed to the website to e-mail the company. That wasn't going to happen - there was no link or information associated with contacting them for cancellation. Another charge was applied to my account. I called back determined not to give them my SS#. I requested whom I was speaking with and where were they located. I believe to the best of my understanding the name may have been Jane after giving up trying to get a name I was told they were not allowed to give out the location "it's not their policy to disclose that information". Very long story short -- buyer beware do not buy/sign up. No free credit report is worth the trouble and aggrevation. DON'T DO IT. You don't know who your giving your personal information to!!!
