On December 4th 2007 I wrote a check at Aldo shoe store for boots. The salesclerk told me my check was declined. He tried several attempts and called to get the check approved. He was very sympathetic to me but I was embarrassed in front of a store full of customers. First I went home and called my bank to check my balance which was way above and beyond my check amount, then I called Certigy and all the girl could repeat over and over was "your check was not declined because of negative history, it just did not meet our pattern of check writing". What is that? I only wrote one check that evening besides this which was for under $100.00. This check was for $119.00. I very respectfully and calmly explained to the girl the embarrassment I went through for no good reason. She just repeated herself again. I tried repeatedly to ask her for a department that I could either talk to or write to in regards to the way they handled this and how extremely unfair this was. She repeatedly said they have no such dept. How could a Check Service Company nit have a consumer dept to handle these situations which are clearly unfair and humiliating! How can they get away with treating honest, hardworking people in such a way! I am so angry at this Company! I am also writing a letter to Aldo Shoes in regards to the check service company they use. Certigy has been getting away with this practice for a long time. The complaints are enormous on the internet about them. All the Company's that use their service must be warned about their practice and that I and I am sure many people who have had this happen now ask wherever they shop if they use Certigy and if they do use them do not shop their anymore mand let the store know why. They act like they are untouchable and can do what they want and tuff beans to you, then we need to fight back and let them know we are letting the stores and businesses know we will not tolerate being humiliated and embarrassed and will lose more business because of them. I am also going to continue posting on other complaint web sites. I do believe "The squeaky wheel gets the oil" saying.
Mad as heck at Certigy Check Authorization!
