Took money from my account, promised free book, and ever delivered. Half the website doesn't work including my cart, no one answers phone. No response to m e-mail complaints. The help option at the website is a bad link

The order was shipped, and payment made by my credit card company. On June 26 I was charged an additional $19.95. I did not receive notice of this charge by email, mail nor does it appear on my payment history within my online account information. I spoke to a rep at SmartSavings and at HotBookSale.com and offered no assistance in resolving this matter.

This deliberately deceptive practive may be effective for revenue streams by volume but I am certain no customer returns for a second purchase. While I am unsure about the legal obligations to offer written terms of such a transaction I am sure that it amounts to consumer deceit at the least. I can only hope that the company's failure is around the corner.

A young man name Wes Samson came to my door and said that he was working toward gettting points for a trip to London with his soccor team. He said he had just graduated from St. Mary's High School in Phoenix and this was a special trip for his scoocr team. He was very convincing and also said his Grandparents lived on the next block from me. He also showed me other sales receipts and money supposedly from other "customers". He was pushing for cash because it would give him more points toward the trip. He had a folder with numerous picturres of books that could be ordered. He also said that the books will go to Phoenix Children's Hospital cancer patients and within 2 weeks i would get $120 of my money back. I gave him a check for $147. The next day i went on the internet and found all these com-plaints about this company and proceeded to put a stop payment on the check and send out a cancelation with a return request and certified mail.

I have paid advance for 2 books to India Today book Club on 17.03.08. Till now I have not received the books. I asked them they gave a way bill no.of BLue dart courier. I asked Blue dart courier they told that there is incomplete address, hence it returned.
